I recently found this website and went through all the comics all the way back to the beginning.
Am I imagining that, as time goes by and you get closer to the newer issues, that he really dialed back the graphic, over the top sex antics of the earlier issues? The earlier ones had alot of cum shots and guys blowing each other and buttsex with lots of cum etc… but the newer ones seem to have shied away from that quite a bit.
Am I imagining this?
It’s a she. She’s said it started out as an attempt to make cartoon pornography, but I suspect she’s started to develop a feel that her audience is more interested in humor than nudity. I mean, I can find all the cumshots I want that aren’t drawn. It’s the humor that she has that makes it worth my time.
Although how would Mistress know about that? She didn’t even know where Ivan was at that time. Unless she has somehow found out afterwards. But the only people that know are Ivan and the Vampire Girl, and I can’t see that either would be telling.

Mistress killed her last apprentice for studying magic on his own. Somehow, I don’t see her viewing his outburst as a sign of growth and I imagine she truly intends for him to be dead. (Now, I don’t think Ivan is dead, but I imagine it is due to some other mechanic rather than Mistress is secretly training him up. And I think the Xoan ambassador may find that he was interpreting Mistress’s good graces as negotiability.)

The Eat Shit refers to the “Eat Shit! Love, Assassins” Ivan wrote in haste on the wall when the arrow of regret initially went on its rampage.
On another note: I’m really hoping Mistress’s new apprentice is Oglaf. I’d love to see what happens to his inevitable case of cumsprites when they have to contend with being floating jizz graffiti.
If Ivan is alive or part of the undead, I don’t see Mistress liking that at all. Sooner or later he’ll be dragged back in front of her just like this time.
I keep hoping we’ll see some character development with Mistress. But, she’s pretty much one note. People are dragged in front of her, she kills them or humiliates them (like the Ambassador forced into giving a BJ). Next.
Mmm, but if he’s alive against Mistress’s wishes, that implies there exists somewhere in this world, a power greater than or equal to Mistress’s and she may not want or be able to contravene it directly.
Grrr I know it’s spelled Oglaf but in my head I keep thinking of it as Olgaf.
A few things.
1: Ivan is alive. Stop worrying about it. He’s, by far, the single most popular character of the strip and an invaluable foil.
2: Mistress does not have a soft spot in her heart for Ivan, that’s reserved for the “horror” she was raising to ride. She’s an evil sorceress, he’s a play toy. If he’s surviving it’s by accident, not because she’s protecting him.
I think Ura-Maru has the complete list of things that Ivan did wrong. What would be the point of making him list five things if there actually were five things to list?
And where do people get that the word-cum guy is Oglaf?

I don’t remember her note exactly, but I remember assuming that she found she just couldn’t keep the humor out. So not in response to the audience, in response to the way her mind works.
That would work. I like that.
I just kept having to re-read those panels where the lizard is following the guards with the sign because it kept sounding like he was pleading with them not to bury Ivan or something. And it’s not showing that. It is just the sign.
And now that I think of it, it wasn’t really the lizard’s fault that Ivan was shot. He was shot because he was the one who had released the arrow. That was going to happen no matter what he said, or yelled at an invisible lizard.
Keep in mind that if Ivan had actually pissed her off, it would have been WAY worse for him than an arrow to the chest. She did mention a red hot poker. And remember what she did with the wand of fireballs to her previous apprentice. The arrow in the chest was how she ended the curse. It had to be returned to the originator very quickly after being pulled out of a victim. Now, she could have just put it in his hand. But why do that when she can drive the point home more thoroughly?
