Oglaf appreciation thread - very NSFW - hilarious pornographic webcomic

I’m getting “Gut the Love Salmon” tattooed somewhere on my body.

I have a feeling like I’ve seen something like it in some sort of esoteric diagram, but unfortunately that’s not enough of a memory to try and track it down, and of course I might be entirely wrong.

in regards to the most recent comic…WTF? Am I missing something?

It’s a joke about purple prose. Just like said-bookisms, some writers get the idea into their heads that the more oblique you are, the better your love scenes will be. This creature takes that to an extreme, eventually communicating without even a coherent material form.

The creature probably thinks it is a very clever metaphor, but is actually just deliberately obscure. Even if he explained his appearance everyone would say “Dude, that’s just stupid,” like an Halloween costume fail.

Ah. I was either not thinking hard enough or too hard. :smack:

This panel reminds me of The Killers “Human” lyrics :

“Pay my respects to grace and virtue
Send my condolences to good
Give my regards to soul and romance”

I guess I’m basing my assumption that the giraffapillar is significant on xkcd.

The only thing that comes to mind is the “archtypical vertebrate” that some anatomist once hypothesized based on averaging the features of all classes of vertebrates. (ETA: might be Huxley)

New one here. I like it a lot, for whatever reason this one really appealed to me.

ALT and TITLE:

ALT - there was no “death do us part” clause"
TITLE - the speeches were very short

Also I notice there’s now a book version. Hmmm.

I liked the Ivan storyline much more than the recent strips. They’ve not been very funny, IMO.

I’ve enjoyed some of the recent ones, but I miss the Ivan storyline, too.

I like the book ad with the Lizard of Guilt’s ghost saying “Ruin Christmas with this thoughtless gift”.

Yeah, I can understand that she wanted to take a break from the Ivan storyline, especially with him being in a coma, but it’s been how long now? I think we get the point.

Ditto.

I would guess that a lot of her time has been used up on preparing the new book, so she had to cut back on long ongoing and multi-page storylines for a while.

I don’t know. The recent allegory story ran for six pages and there was the three-page Rogue’s Arsenal story which was a continuation of earlier stories.

I don’t get this week’s strip. Is it an allusion to a particular myth or fairytale? I can remember a few fairytales where the prince ends up marrying an animal…

I don’t think there’s any specific allusion. Just another loony ruler in the Oglaf universe making life difficult for everyone around him.

Loved the mouseover text, though.

Maybe there is…

New one posted – The Nocturnal Adventures of Sir Coffee. I don’t get it. Can someone explain?
