Is Love Skull supposed to be based on the Guns 'N Roses skull?
Unlikely; the GR skull has a top hat, or (in case of the band members) A funny hat, sunglasses or weird hair.
I think the whole “skull decorated with roses” motif is just that; a reminder of how bleak a day of mandatory loveliness can be.
If anyone knows what “The Sindiecate” is, they are doing Oglaf this week.
The Love Day skull looks like a sugar skull, more than anything else. (Sugar skulls are mostly associated with the Day of the Dead - I wonder if that’s a secondary gag…)
So by “doing” Oglaf, you mean “linking to the website,” not “drawing a guest comic.” Now I get it.

Well, it has its ups and its downs. I laugh at about every third one, on average.
I agree. The strip has always had its ups and downs and I don’t think there are more downs now then there were in the past.
I thought the idea that a guy who just liked fucking goats would make up a story about his wife being turned into a goat was funny. And the punchline worked.
I thought the sexual prowess amulet concept was good although the punchline was weak in that one.
I thought the allegory strips were an original idea. I thought the obligation skull was a decent satire.
I’ll admit I found the death cloud and vagina tree strips mediocre. But, like I said, the strip has always had some misses.
