“Oglaf” has consistently made me smile, but I actually laughed at the “Because I’ve taken up slapstick” punchline. Bravo.
The Epilogue was what cracked me up. I though the joke was going to be about the swamp monster chatting up a dummy, then suddenly I was blindsided by the actual, very “Far Side” joke.
That does explain it. Didn’t notice on my own.
Who says that the Mercenary doesn’t know how to have fun? She knows how to have fun! It just involves hitting people, that’s all.
Wow, I didn’t even notice that, I was mentioning the earlier escape from Grier
I was more thinking of noodle incidents
Okay, Oglaf seems to have - temporarily, but we can hope - grown the beard. That’s some okay storyline and good use of some fun characters, though I think Grier should have considered taking Navaan with her. Navaan seems to be in a bizarre kind of denial about vampirehood, though that’s by no means a bad thing considering how her associates used to act.
I’m beginning to wonder if she isn’t a bit stupid or naive.
Possibly - but I think it may be a psychological rejection of her vampirehood, what with being convinced that she is a “doctor”, while being apparently aware that other “doctors” might kidnap and even murder people.
But she knows that sunlight is bad for her, so she’s not in a deep rejection.
Speaking of sunlight - I don’t think Grier can take Navaan with her - it’s daytime.
Grier should have taken Navaan with her where?
To the visible jet, obviously ![]()
That made me re-check for a prologue, I kinda expected to see Navaan hopping after Grier still tied to the chair
Couldn’t Navaan just be denying being a vampire because, well, people kill vampires when they get the chance? I mean, it’s not exactly the best way to make friends.
Huh?
Were you looking for an epilogue?
Grier’s smile scares me. A lot.
Good point, well taken.
err yeah, an epilogue
Yeah, I figure she’s just really, really trying to sell the lie that she’s a doctor, not a vampire, and is just not very good at it.
I just noticed that a couple pages back, when Grier breaks through the window, she does it by using Navaan’s leech-bait ham as a grappling hook.
Hence the mouse-over text, “Grappling ham: deployed”
If you mean the visible jet, Wonder Woman has a magic golden rope that makes people tell the truth, and an invisible jet. Grier only has a non-magic non-golden rope, so…
In the enchanted city, ISTR Navaan was just fine as long as she was swaddled from scalp to toe.
