Oglaf appreciation thread - very NSFW - hilarious pornographic webcomic

Notice Grier’s comment in the ante-penultimate panel.

Most awesome. Leaves poor Morag a disembodied head, but they can sort that out another time. Grier’s famously direct approach shows up again on the last page in response to the assertion that the fun cult will last as long as the temple stands.

Was it whatever the guy she was seducing lost from his pocket?

Yup. The “fake death” egg, which calls back to Navaan and Grier’s first encounter.

Thanks, I missed that connection.

Yup. “Standing” is something that temple won’t be doing.

Still, sad to think of all of the fun going away. Couldn’t they keep some of the fun?

Yes, it was one of those “fake death” egg thingies that she’s used before to create a dead “copy” of her body. It killed the fun god because, as we learned previously, he is the god of fakes.

And yet another nemesis learns why you should never taunt Grier.

That fun guy should’ve learned from the “Purity Is Strength” cult- keep your weakness a secret!

Especially to a pissed off Grier.

The most important thing is to not piss off Grier.

Why did the emanations from the fun god draw Grier and Navaan in, but instead cause everyone else in the room to get horny?

Hell, she’s permanently pissed off. She’s got three settings: Pissed Off, Really Pissed Off, and Totally Pissed Off. The best you can hope for is Pissed Off. Or offer her a big bag of gold. This lowers her PO setting one notch.

The temple is very flammable.

I felt a little bad for the fun god. Burning the temple seemed extreme.

I wonder if that immortal lady will get a new body?

Good question.

I was a little disappointed that there was no epilog to this story arc. Maybe it’s not over yet, and next week Navaan will break a fake death egg over Morag’s head, and generate a body that way.

Which raises the question: if a fake death egg is used on Morag the Immortal, what comes up?

Most fun things are.

“As a parasite, I resent that”

But of course it’s not fun per se that is bad, it’s worshiping pleasure-seeking as a goal in itself under the guise of “fun”.

It’s the Oglafverse, orgies are the standard group entertainment activity (except for the Monks of Happenstance and the dwellers of the phantom Magical City, apparently). Not having set up inside the temple hall the various other fun activities from the fair (many of which we saw were already of a sexual nature), they went for what they could do by themselves. The Fungod uses its power more directly on those who are a threat so that they will come to it for destruction, everyone else is just in a general pleasure trance.

Maybe it would have led them into terminal mercenary-on-vampire Girl/Girl action… but when Grier noticed the fake sword, that worked on one of her triggers: though she may deny it, dealing violence IS a form of fun (“I’ve been getting into slapstick”).

And, um, I sure hope the Monks of Happenstance have some gold…

Wild ass speculation.

The Fun God (whatever it is) originally existed and used its powers to trap its prey. It stimulated its victims’ pleasure center so they were unable to resist being eaten.

Eventually some people figured out how to use the Fun God safely. Just stake some victims out in the arena for the Fun God to eat and everyone else up in the stands got the benefit of mindless pleasure without the downside of being eaten. The cult basically grew from this.

That never crossed my mind, but that would be a very elegant solution to her dilemma.

I don’t doubt that your explanations are correct but dammit this is Oglaf. The author virtually promised that somehow Navaan would end up in an orgy in the Fun God’s chamber. I demand the mercenary-on-vampire Girl/Girl action I was promised!
