I’m sorry, Ogre, I didn’t see this thread earlier because I was up in Pittsburgh for my grandfather’s funeral, of which this sadly reminded me. It’s been very difficult for my grandmother, even though life is in many ways much easier for her now. (She just moved into independant living.) I’m trying to convince my mother and her siblings to work on getting Grandma a cat or a fish or something - she desperately misses having somebody to take care of. I know it sounds silly, but maybe that would be a comfort for your father?
We would have dearly liked to have had your mother at Agnes Scott, by the way. It sounds like it would have been just the place for her.
