Oh, Annie, I'm not your daddy!

You see, if I was in your blood, then you would not be so ugly.

For whatever reason, my random play has kicked out four songs of the last seven off the one Kid Creole and the Coconuts album that I own.

Why can’t you be like Endicott?

I think I’m going to have to buy some more.

Tell me what we gonna miss the most of all,
Roman Colosseum or the Berlin Wall,
Some little village or some cafe,
Westminster Alley or the Champs-Élysées.

I discovered the Kid about 8 years ago, with an album called “You Should Have Told Me You Were…” and went off looking for anything at all I could find by him. At the time there was almost nothing “in print” apart from the “Redux” greatest hits collection.

Now almost everything has been re-released, but there are also dozens of dubious live albums and repackaged greatest hits albums. I don’t have any firm recommendations, but recommend avoiding the albums “Too Cool to Conga” and “Private Waters In the Great Divide” (although it does have one great song, Laughing With Our Backs Against the Wall).

If you want to buy some digital songs ala carte, these are some good ones that aren’t on Redux:
No Fish Today (great. from Tropical Gangsters aka Wiseguys)
Consequently (from You Shoulda Told Me)
Madison Avenue (from You Shoulda Told Me)
You Shoulda Told Me You Were Catholic (from To Travel Sideways)
Haiti (Kiss Me Before the Light Changes)
Table Manners (Fresh Fruit in Foreign Places)

Also look out for August Darnell’s previous incarnation as Dr Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band, I think a ‘best of’ can be got on itunes - well worth it. I’ll Play The Fool and Cherchez la Femme are outstanding songs.
