Oh boy, more snow

Hot as blazes here now. Yesterday (Wednesday) was the first day of this hot season that I was truly soaked through and through with sweat outdoors. Will only get hotter these next couple of months.

We’ve received about a foot in the last few days. There is a Winter Storm Warning out for today with accumulations of 12”-24”. It’s really not that unusual for springtime in the Rockies. But we bitch about it anyway. Long winters up here.

I remember the day of the OK city bombing. It was April 19th 1995. We got so much snow that I actually stayed home from work (I was driving a CJ7 at the time).

I’ll definitely have to plow tonight.

About 9" so far in the Boulder area, maybe more. I understand that parts of Denver haven’t seen squat so far. It is 28°F here right now but 80 miles north in Cheyenne it is 12°F. When that cold front arrives, that’s when the shit really hits the fan. We may see 24"+ when all is said and done.

We do need the moisture, but damn, my trees and shrubs are getting hammered.

It’s “early spring” in Toronto, as opposed to “late winter”. Finally. Daytime temps are reliably above freezing with highs as high as 11 or 12C; nighttime lows are around freezing. Bring on the buds and green grass and birdies!

Perfect timing, I’m flying (hopefully) to Crested Butte tomorrow for a long weekend of skiing. 16" and counting - keep on falling!

I didn’t realize how pathetically unprepared people in Colorado are for snow. I have lived in the snow belt all my life. I moved out here a year ago and OH MY GOD. ItT snows and people drive 20 mph and forget how to drive. What the Hell?

And for God’s sake, WHY are there no snow plows out? This I do not understand. Back in Indiana, the snow plows would have been driving around getting ready for the snow. When it actually did snow, the roads would be cleared fairly quickly.

I just do not understand. I think all this sunshine has baked a few brains.

Sunshine is our snowplow. I can see how, being from the Midwest, that concept would be unfamiliar. (Lived in Wisconsin for six years.)

That’s because many of the people in Colorado are from Indiana, California and Texas.

My wife says on snowy days it can take an hour to go from Longmont to Boulder.

I would have strangled someone. It must be from living too close to Chicago.

Another thing that is hard to get used to is that you have to stop for people in the crosswalk. Don’t get me wrong, I like be able to cross the street without fearing for my life. But I got called a few names until I got used to stopping :smack::).
