Well, not the entire OCR, but to “What Is This Feeling?”, “Popular” and “Defying Gravity.” I like the rest of the OCR also but those three songs have grabbed ahold of me, demanding that when any of them come up on my iTunes shuffle that they get played three or four times in succession.
A friend gave me the OCR along with the original novel for Christmas. I read the novel before listening to the CD, in case there were spoilers (I started a thread about it, if you wanna search for it feel free). Without really knowing in detail the story of the musical, I’m really loving the OCR. I get kind of a seventies vibe from the OCR, deliberately or not a number of the songs kinda remind me of “The Wiz.”
You should talk to my 12 yo daughter. I bought the OCR CD last year after seeing a scene from the musical on the PBS history of Broadway special. She listens to it over and over…so much that I’m sick of it. But I still like the song “Popular”. Probably because like most people I knew girl that thought like that in high school.
Good Guess, and Good News: Wicked is opening in London next month and if it succeeds there, there’s a good probability some other countries will do it. Which means there might be an OLC, and maybe German, Japanese and who knows what other recordings.
Ah, the joy (and expense) of collecting these things.
