OK, sorry, I was kind of winging it here, I should’t have done that. 1099’s are just generally used to report income, so I thought it was strange that you apparently got one when there was no income to report (just the lack of income on a non-taxable rollover, I guess). “My bad,” as the kids say (or used to say).
You want to talk about silliness? I actually filled out my tax form in February. I just haven’t mailed it yet. Freakin’ ridiculous.
HA! Done!
But I had to call the freakin’ IRS to find out my 2007 AGI. My return from last year pulled a Judge Crater on me. 2005 and 2006 were where they were supposed to be, but 2007 done went all Amelia Earhart on me. And I had to pay $33 to file.
Bastards.
I just finished my taxes. Of course the “withheld” amounts cost me money but from just an immediate point of view -
The Fed -
I owe money. Money that they will ship off to foreign lands in support of bad foreign policy or ship off to New York to keep a banker’s ass covered in his multimillion dollar penthouse.
The State -
That same state with the crumbling bridges, busted highways, dwindling law enforcement. That same state that is drastically raising college tuition costs for my two kids because it is cutting back state funding of its universities?
That state is sending me a refund. No, it doesn’t cover the increase in tuition.
