Oh, lordy, this should be good: Moore visits O'Reilly tonight

Interesting. O’Reilly now seems willing to admit that the WMD thing was a “mistake.” I notice he basically ducked Moore’s question about whether he’d be willing to sacrifice his own kid to get rid of a dicatator.

My answer would be a hearty fuck no, btw.

But he flip-flopped on it, too. First he said it would depend on the situation. Then he suddenly said he wouldn’t speak for any children.

I vaguely recall hearing somewhere that Moore refused to go on “The O’Reilly Factor” previously because they couldn’t assure him the interview would be live (and uneditable). If he’s sitting down with Bill now, I imagine he has some assurances in place that Fox won’t Benihana the footage beyond recognition.

I’d like to see it, just to watch Moore gut O’Reilly like a fish.

In a debate forum, (whether it’s the presidential, message board or TV talking head variety), no one ever ‘wins’ or ‘loses’. Both sides walk away thinking they’ve won, and witnesses to such debates only have their pre-conceived notions reinforced. Even if Moore calls for construction of Soviet style re-education camps and O’Reilly calls for the extermination of all illegal aliens, I don’t see any of the ideologues opinion’s being changed.

According to what I heard O’Reilly say last night (in a rebroadcast following the Fleet Center speeches) “Franken, though way behind in the ‘poll’ is, in his opinion far worse” (Paraphrased…and perhaps he used the word evil or dangerous).

I’m not here to defend B O’R , but that’s old news

Well, that’s because you can only READ the words milroyj and Reeder are spewing at each other. In this case, we get to WATCH it, in all it’s colorful glory.

I can’t wait!

Actually, I hear that martial organ music used during cool fight scenes in Star Trek, especially while Kirk and Spock were going at in “Amok Time.”

Ok, well…it sounds like he’s still trying to spin in the most apologetic manner for Bush.

That was a pretty chickenshit “apology,” btw, but I guess it’s still pretty unusual for O’Reilly.

Better yet-“Duel of the Fates”!

Andros, I loved Carrey’s rendition of that music in Cable Guy. He did a great Grace Slick imitation as well!

Yeah, I meant winner or loser among the folks here at Straight Dope. If Moore falls to his knees, concedes loss, and signs a statement that O’Reilly scored every point, 90% of the people here will spin it as a victory for Moore. But as I say, that’s fine by me. Few jackasses deserve derision more than O’Reilly.

I never watch BO for more than a few minutes but I shall most certainly view tonight. Can anyone tell me who is to appear on the stage of the DNC at 8:00EDT ?

Lib, has your email changed at all?

[/hijack]

I saw a preview, neither of them were spitting.

Wasn’t it just a few days ago that O’Reilly was yelling “Moore doesn’t have the guts to come on my show”?

I will watch it, mostly.
I am obviously a Moore supporter.
I am more interested in watching Teresa tonight!
Lets see HER debate O’Reilly!

Any chance this will be aired online? I’d love to see it.

Hmm… Not sure, Coldie. Check their website in the next day or so. There should at least be a transcript.

Kal, yes. A couple months ago or so. Do you need it?

Dammit, this is the first time in my life I actually am SAD for not having Fox News anymore over here. We used to, up until a few years ago. Now it’s NSBC. And CNN, of course. But that’s it, America-wise.

Did you check out the clip? That’ll at least give you a taste of it.

Don’t get you hopes up for the website, Coldie. There will be a “partial transcript,” and I’ve noticed in the past that they tend toward a little selective editing.

Ha, the worst he can hope for is RATINGS. He’s going to get them out the wazoo. People who hate either one of them will tune in to watch. This is shear Producing genius.

At best (from O’Reilly’s perspective) he’ll distract people from the actual DNC and keep the focus off of Kerry/Edwards.

It’s a win-win position for O’Reilly and Fox. Most people’s opinion of O’Reilly will not likely be changed by the outcome.

I did see the clip. And while I’m skeptical on Moore, I think he’d have the best hand in this game of poker.

O’Reilly will get too emotional because he has no other way. Moore only gets emotional to get a result in his “documentaries”, and might remain a lot cooler in an actual debate.
