Oh my God, I LOVE this car.

I’m jonesin’ for that silver Lotus that passed my ford the other day!

MAN! that was a sweet looking car! About the same price range too.

Shoulda mentioned I was driving my wifes taurus at the time. I drive a chevvy pickup.

Just a serious case of power envy I reckon.

Nope. No cross border duty on cars made in NAFTA countries, assuming it’s RIV approved. Still have to pay GST though.

Well, the engineers did say it was the “best [overall] bang for the buck around”. So I guess it’s a sporty car aimed at the budged minded consumer. Typically Ford

Will they succeed? The 2007 BMW V8 M3 will blow it out of the water in terms of performance for about the same price, be naturally aspirated, and probably have much nicer handling and interior, but really, no one makes a rational decision to buy that kind of car anyway.

You WILL have to pay duty on that one though. :stuck_out_tongue:

how can you not love my car?

Wait until next year. The Shelby GT has been green-lighted - it’s the same car as the Hertz rent-a-car. It’s ‘only’ got something like 325-350HP, but the car is more than 500 lbs lighter than the GT500, so performance isn’t that much different, and it’s got much better balance (the GT500 is very nose heavy). So it’ll handle better, be much cheaper, and still go crazy fast.

Or, you could wait until 2008 and get the new Camaro. If it looks anything like the concept pictured here (and GM promises it will be almost identical), it will be stunning. Not only that, it’ll be much lighter than the 4000lb Challenger, and it has 4 wheel independent suspension.

I’ve actually driven in the Non-concept new Dodge challenger - it’s ok - it actually handles really well.

But you just can’t beat the mustang for style.

Now, if Chevrolet comes out with a new concept car Chevelle…heh. That would be bad.

Well, i’ve looked at pictures from every angle and, starting with the caveat that aesthetics are a very personal thing, i really think it’s a deathly boring looking car. But then, i thought exactly the same thing when the new Mustang was released, and the GT500 is, in terms of appearance, little more than a beefed-up Mustang.

While i’m not sure that i really like the 2008 Camaro that Sam Stone linked to, it at least has the virtue of being interesting. The Ford just looks bloated, with no decent curves or interesting angles.

I’m sure the performance is great, and of course you don’t have to look at it when you’re behind the wheel, but to me it looks like the product of a designer with no imagination who happened to be holding a picture of an old Mustang. It’s all very well trying to keep some of the lines and proportions that made the Mustang and the old Shelbys classic, but ferchrissakes make it look like a car for the 2010s, not the 1980s.

If it makes you feel any better, the Alfa Romeo Spider is my dream car and it will NEVER happen. Its so pretty though. Sigh.

I’m with Bippy the Beardless. I read about Tesla’s Roadster in this month’s Popular Mechanics, and I want one! It’s an electric convertible built by Lotus which does 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds and gets 250 miles to the charge. Now all I have to do is wait a year (it’s not on the market yet) and come up with about $100,000 USD. I don’t suppose the Powerball tickets we bought at work paid off. :frowning:

WOW, a hundred grad car that will get you cross country in just over 12 days. I could beat that in a '68 Corvair.

Too bad right now they can not really give those Vipers away right now, who are they kidding?

When I bought my first new car under the employee pricing plan (through my dad) the dealer was telling me how the discount varied with the price of the car, and that the employee discount on the Viper was something in t he neighborhood of 10K. So you can and do get the employee discount on the Viper. I think they have even extended the discount to the M-B products now, with possibly a few exceptions like the Maybach, etc.

Well, they’re the only profitable US Automaker right now, so they have to be doing something right. Of course, selling a ton of 300s doesn’t hurt profitability.

Forget the car! Where do I get the brunette hottie in a foil jumpsuit?

My husband would toss me over for a chance to have sex with that car. In a heartbeat. The fact that we don’t have the means to purchase that car does not stop him from whispering it’s name into his pillow at night.

Police could give you a ticket for intent to speed. Kiss your drivers license good bye.

Nope, losses of $1.2 Billion are projected

Nah, as the saying goes, I’d rather piss on a Chevy than shit on a Ford…no wait that’s not it… I’d rather push a Chevy up a hill than pull a Ford down a steep embankment …still not right…I wouldn’t piss in a Ford’s ass if it’s hemorrhiods were on fire…not that either…I wouldn’t bang a Ford with your dick… I give up.

Damn Germans. WTF do they know about making cars, anyway?

The Germans are doing fine, MBenz is projected to make $2,1bn IIRC, so there’s enough to subsidize Chrysler for a while yet.
