Oh my! Look what's at my local humane society!

This lil’ kitty, and her brother.

I will not get a kitten.

I will not get a kitten.

I will not get TWO kittens.

I have a life. I have a dog. It’s hard enough to find someone to take care of the dog when I go on vacation, much less a cat. Or two cats. I hate cleaning the litter box. Mr. Athena doesn’t like cats. He complains all the time about dog hair, even though he likes the dog. If I get a cat he’ll complain even more.

But they’re SOOOO CUTE!

I love cats. I’ve always had cats, up until a year and a half ago when my last one had to be put down due to chronic kidney failure. I miss having a cat. When I go to people’s houses who have cats, I play with 'em and think how much I miss 'em.

I’m doomed.

Save me.

It’s too late.

Enjoy your new kitties. Congratulations.

Oh! Oh! Get them, quickly - before someone else does. Those are some of the prettiest kittens I’ve ever seen.

NO NO NO!

You’re supposed to tell me what a HASSLE kittens are! NOT encourage me!

BAD DOPERS! BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD!

Uh oh, your all done. I’m a man who was recently talked into this little ball of fuzz.

It’s all over for you sorry…

Well not really. Do you live in a house with wooden walls? We do. My wife flipped out two days after we got her we lost her. I was sitting in the living room watching my wife run around like a dervish, when she stopped, yelled at me to help and I pointed to the wall. There 12 feet up out modern log home walls, was minmei, stuck with her little talons affixed to the wood.

I climbed up to our trelace and plucked her down…

I’ve had to do that at least 13 times a day since, and it’s been a little over a month…

I hate you all.

Luckily, the humane society doesn’t open until noon. By then I will have forgotten about the kittens. Right? Right?

rolls over on her back and stretches luxuriously, inviting a tummy rub

Who you callin’ a bad doper? Cats don’t respond to that stuff – but they do respond to a spray of water. Get a couple of water pistols and let your hubby help teach 'em the house rules. He’ll love it! (and, sooner or later, them).

Cats take care of themselves when you’re away. They don’t eat all the food you put down before you’re even out the door.

Those are cute.
Then there’s Deyanira (click on the number next to her name).
I want her now, but I still have to wait a little while before I get one. Gotta make sure the August finances are set through the 26th or I’ll have a kitty and no rent money. But I’d have a kitty!

I would go for Lily or Tori myself (Lsura’s link). I love torties and both of my current cats are marked that way.

You just have to, you know.

And when you get home, be sure to start a “you made me adopt them, now you name them” thread.

Hurry and go get those cute kitties! Like twickster said, cats are remarkably self sufficient. With large bowls of food and water, and full clean litter boxes, we’ve left our three for up to 5 days at a time. If it’s a longer trip, you have to get someone to take care of your dog anyway, and it’s not much more work for said person to periodically care for the cats, too.

They’re awfully cute…and they’ll keep each other occupied!

It’s too late and you know it. Get your kittens and bring them home.

Let’s start coming up with names. It’s noon now. Surely she has given in!

Bah. Kittens evil. Only good for making a nice ottoman, when they’re properly stuffed.

Livin’ up to that user ID, eh, Barb? (Can I call you Barb? Thanks!)

I’m willing to bet she’ll go get the kitties…her hubby’s going to be very mad at us.

It’s 12:15. How are your new kittens doing?

'Grats on the new kitties! BTW, we are not bad dopers just because we know when we–you–are licked.

Bah.

Mr. Athena has been on the phone all frikkin’ morning - work stuff, so I don’t want to bug him. So I can’t even show him the pics. So no, I haven’t gone to the Humane Society (yet).

Maybe I should call 'em and see if they’re still available.

I hate you all.

Update???

Oh wait, it’s probably taking a bit of time for her to fill out the paperwork etc. I bet she posts sometime tonight, complete with pictures of her new kitties.

They are best in pairs - gives them a friend to play with. The fact that they are brother and sister is even better - they are already used to each other.

Enjoy them.
