Oh NOEZ!!!1!!1! Obama to Give Socialist Indoctrination Talk to School Children!!!

Maybe a paper on the Red Scare?

Yes, this. This is what I’ve been thinking but looking for the words to say.

We need Sarah Palin’s pastor to come give this country an exorcism and witchcraft rebuking.

Every form of witchcraft!

So you’re saying that Obama wants to indoctrinate our children into his penis stealing warlock ways. Not bad. If you can tie Lenin, Stalin, or any of the Marx bros. into this, it’d outsell Ann Coulter.

My son’s school called this afternoon and left a message (they do a robocall every Friday with announcements & reminders). They’re going to only show it to 2nd, 4th and 5th graders. The principal gave the website for people who want to show their kids at home. If you want to opt out, you have to contact your child’s teacher and work with him/her to make special arrangements.

I told my son, a 1st grader, that the President was going to be delivering a speech just for kids in school. He’s very excited. I told him the kids in 1st grade wouldn’t see it in class, but I’d show it to him online when he gets home.

Any special reason he is so excited? Are you of African ethnicity, or godless socialists?

Did your first grade son ask if the speech would include a manifesto of the president’s controversial policies?

“Excited” means his eyes began glowing, along with those of his tow-headed classmates.

The assignment I just posted on my class web page says:

*Listen/watch and critique the President’s speech to students given the morning of Sept. 8th. What was his core message? Did he deliver this message successfully? What were some of his sub-points? Do you agree with his message? Why or why not?

For extra credit, try to explain why certain groups do not want their children exposed to this message.*
I might adjust the language of the extra credit. Or maybe not.

Will you accept “There are some real fuckin’ nutjobs out there” as an answer?

Oh, we’re the godless socialist types. He was mainly just excited because I told him the PRESIDENT had a speech Just For Kids. He likes it when adults do things Just For Kids. I told him that the President was probably going to ask for his help to do something, so he’s all ready for his marching orders. I’ll probably have to fish the jackboots out of the closet this weekend.

So long as they expand on that answer with some specifics, certainly!

My mom works at the central office for our local school district. Today it was announced that a student who attends the vocational school where some of our kids go was diagnosed with H1N1 (it wasn’t announced formally to all all the parents, just on the news or something). Mom was gearing up for a bunch of panicked calls from parents about that.

No one called about that. But they did get about a dozen calls about the Obama speech, people who were outraged about it being shown in school.

More than half of the people who called admitted that they DON’T EVEN HAVE KIDS IN THE DISTRICT. Seriously - cranky old shits calling to complain. Probably the same cranky old shits who can’t part with an extra dollar in tax every month for a new levy.

I’m with Guin - my fellow citizens make me want to cry.

The kicker in this story, by the way, is that Sept 8 happens to be a teacher in-service day and there is no school anyway. CRISIS AVERTED! (although the video will be available from the district’s Web site)

Creepy. Sort of a Midwich Cuckoo effect.

Maybe the Loyal Opposition have been running at the right speed on the wrong track. It’s not political indoctrination, Obama is cutting right to the chase by using mind control on your nation’s young.

I bet Cheney wishes he’d thought of this.

Lawmakers can (and clearly do) oppose the president on matters of policy, but they do (or should) recognize the fact that the president is the head of state, and should be accorded with respect.

I thought GWB’s presidency was a disaster for the most part, but if he announced he was going to speak to schoolchildren, I would shrug it off as one of the traditions, if not duties, of the person who leads the country.

ETA: I meant to address your “our guy” vs. “their guy” point. Maybe it’s a whoosh on my part, but I can’t see how that kind of thinking, after an election is settled, is productive. Sure, fight and scrap to get your candidate elected, but if winning isn’t in the cards, swallow the bitter pill of defeat and do your best to work with the person that won. Otherwise, you get what we’ve had for the last 7 or so years–a nation divided at the very worst possible moment in history.

Kids are awed about being addressed by the president. They should be. To have one of the most powerful people take time to talk to a kid like you is a big deal. I hope people don’t take that away from their kids.

Exactly.

Yep – I’ve seen it on Free Republic – some of them seriously think he’s the Antichrist (the “Left Behind” types)

I still want to fucking cry. I think I’m going to bed.

I have no problem with folks criticizing the President, AS LONG AS IT IS BASED ON FACT. They are making up out of whole cloth this concept tha is going to somehow indoctrinate them with some sort of Socialist Marxist Voodoo. That is downright idiotic. Now if the Presidnet gives his speech and says, “The blood of the worker is what supplies the grease for the Capitalist machione.” They yeah, go right ahead. Now there has never been a reason to suspect he would do that so it boils down to this: They don’t like him. It has nothing to do with what he is going to say, they simply don’t want their kids having ANY potentiall positive experience involving the President.

They are morons.

When I take over as Grand Khan of Amerika, I will call myself “Presidnet” & give speeches saying things like, “The blood of the worker is what supplies the grease for the Capitalist machine.”

Well, maybe in a movie.
