But it DOESN’T beat doing anything besides watching TV, and therein lies the problem.

Yeah, I agree that current episodes of The Simpsons are better than other crap out there, which is rarely why I watch any TV. And if I do catch anything from FOX’s Sunday night lineup it’s King of the Hill, Malcolm in the Middle, and Arrested Development.
Other than that, I like to watch Monk.
I’m just getting sick of the same old plots in The Simpsons:
Oh look, Homer has a scheme and he acts stupid a lot and usually there’s a guest star. Boring.

Fifteen years ago, this was really saying something. These days, it’s damning with faint praise. TV these days sucks, and unfortunately so does the Simpsons. They haven’t been funny in years now.
I’d say that it started going downhill in the mid-to-late 90’s. I say go ahead and end it, before it becomes another Saturday Night Live, continuing on year after year as a pathetic shadow of its former self.

What, just because it has some similarities to “I Love Lucy” it makes it good? “I Love Lucy” or “The Lucy Show” weren’t good shows either.
Good. Cancel it. FOX is letting their sick, old dog suffer rather than giving it the dose of death it needs.
This is going to be the first season where I don’t even bother trying to watch. Last season I simply tivoed it and watched them when I was bored, but aside from the diamond in the rough that was the Battlebots episode, that entire season was horrendous, and it’s been that way for years. Same thing goes for Malcolm which gives me no reason to watch FOX sunday night at all.
When I bought the season 4 DVDs I was just simply blown away at just how GOOD the show used to be. I’ve watched since the Christmas special first aired, but with the way that syndication has been flooded with season 10+ episodes, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen such classics, and I find it hard to believe that it’s still the same show…and just wait til season 5 (unarguably the best season of them all) comes out!

The “90% better than all other television” catchphrase hasn’t been true for several years now. I stopped watching after season 15, when I taped every episode and didn’t laugh once.
I say that the last season was genius and on the level of (if not surpassing) its height in the mid/late-90’s.

I apologize for having a different opinion than you. I didn’t know that I wasn’t allowed to point out the blatently obvious fact that a beloved TV show has dropped in quality. I will permit you to enjoy your “better than shit” TV show. I didn’t know my dislike of “better than shit” was such an affront to your enjoyment of said “better than shit”.

Hell, even the 13th, 14th or 15th season beats them. I hope it goes on for another 15 years because its the only show that even has the potential to be funny. All those other shows are just lame sitcoms. The Simpsons is funnier than them even when its making fun of how unfunny its been!
Not to mention the fact that that unholy, unfunny, low-rent, low-brow, should-have-been-left-for-dead-where-it-belongs, lets create a crazy kooky wacky show ya know like the Simpsons, series Family Guy (ugh!) has been resurrected…
