Some time ago, I received a telephone call from the Gallup Poll folks wanting me to answer some survey questions. I agreed, and proceeded to give opinions on political issues, candidates, and so on. The last few questions, however, caught me off guard:
[ul]
[li]Q: What television couple do you and your current or most recent partner most resemble?[/li][li]Q: What would be your dream job?[/li][li]Q: Which animal do you think would win in a fight, a lion or a grizzly bear?[/li][/ul]
Now I realize how issue-related questions are used and pop up every night on the news; but who in the world needs public opinion on wild animals, for example? Is there some PR firm working feverishly on the “Grizzly Bear Account”? Are there organizations that pay Gallup for this seemingly trivial question? Or are they just “fun” questions to ask people once they’ve already got you hooked on the phone?
For the record, I answered Jerry & Elaine, vacation tester, and grizzly bear. (please withold your answers to the three questions, lest this thread get booted to IMHO…unless, of course, you have a proven answer for the lion/grizzly question:))
