OK, Beeyotches, You've Made Up My Mind For Me

See, now that’s a shame, because those of us that are not in favor of abortion think that people who have abortions are every bit the murderers that you think Bricker is, only much more so because they’re the ones that actively seek to have the babies killed. In substance it’s no different than hiring a hitman.

Now, are you done with this peculiar self-righteousness, or do you want to continue to assert some sort of superior position? We can do this all day, or we can simply agree that there are two sides to the argument and neither of them are “right” even as one is enshrined in law.

[Confucious] It is the wise man who recognizes that once you eat the turd, the stinky is gone. [/Confucious]

Topics for another thread. Mainly, you don’t show the class that Bricker (usually) does.

I saw it. It doesn’t quick make up for the previous several pages of vitriol for me (and possibly others as well).

I’m sure Bricker will win back my respect (not that I imagine he cares about that.) It hasn’t happened yet.

Man who cook bean and pea in same pot unsanitary.

I just, you know… I kind of get where Brick was coming from, but Obama isn’t Jesus.

That’s right, I admitted it.

Even if he WAS Jesus, Jesus didn’t convince everyone in the world to be completely awesome to each other. Jesus Christ coming down on a beam of unicorn pee and rainbows from Heaven could not convince the GOP to quit with their smear politics. And even if nobody in either party’s leadership said nasty things in public, nasty things would still be said by all those other people.

I’m voting Obama for many reasons. One of them is that I agree with you, Bricker. I want issues-based politics. I don’t care what’s going on with McCain’s wife or Palin’s daughters. Suddenly, there’s someone along who says he won’t stoop to that level. He actually holds to it, too – he speaks out against his own side, saying that their attacks are reprehensible. People are starting to wonder if maybe he’s right. More people are beginning to say to their friends 'Wait, this isn’t the right way. We shouldn’t be trying to win by any means necessary if we can win by taking the high road. What if taking the high road really WILL get us there?"

Now, Obama might lose, and he might lose for many reasons, but I guarantee you that if he does lose both parties will come to the same conclusion: it is inadvisable to take the high road if you can instead kick your opponent in the balls and blame him for falling down.

Then we ought to be having funeral services for early miscarries? After all, they are fully human, no?

Please refer to post #114 for the reason for that, especially the part that reads:

You [Bricker] and Sam Stone have a more patient, carefully worded and even tone to your posts and that’s fine. I could mimic that approach and perhaps come in for slightly less vituperation than I do now (although you see how even you are being treated now by the likes of TVeblen and her ilk), but to me it’s better to just speak my mind and let the chips fall where they may. I have chosen not to waste time walking on metaphorical egg shells so as not to piss off people who routinely disparage those who think as I do in the most ridiculous (and worse, inaccurate) terms.

I tend to give what I get, chum. If people around here want class, they’ll need to show me a little first.

Pro-choice here, but some people do.

Sometimes I worry about you, luce. I really do.

Let’s see… more than 4000 Americans (roughly the adult population of Wasilla) are dead and rotting in what should be the prime of their lives and so are about 100,000 Iraqis (about the population of Anchorage though frankly, who gives a shit about dead Iraqis?) due to a war that has brought us absolutely no benefit, was justified by lies, and has cost us more than a trillion dollars (for perspective that’s how much it would cost to buy a $200,000 house bought free and clear for 5 million families) and we’re paying more money in interest to the Chinese than the GDP of many first world nations and they’re using it to absolutely kick our ass economically even more and the dollar is sinking like a dead Orca and the middle class is struggling just to stay alive and all but the richest 1% perhaps are on a collision course with an economic Doomsday even as we rely on petroleum supplies that were sold at heavy prices by people who behead uppity women and homosexuals and spawned the people who destroyed the WTC and that the war was supposedly about and meanwhile America, “the City on the Hill” that people literally once risked certain death to come to for its freedom, now employs a gang raping army of mercenaries and freely admits (with a little semantic tinkering) that it tortures people in Guantanamo (though torture is certainly effective- it’s the only way we found out how many people were fucking the devil and doing his bidding). One candidate wants to end this, another wants to continue this and hopefully, while at it, overturn abortion. One has followers who post mean things on message boards and the other… uh… has followers who eat only nutritious meals which they use to excrete lavender scented rainbows and the occasional white dove.

Yep, the decision’s clear which one to vote for. Can’t have a woman’s family talked about just because she went in 24 hours from anonymity to super fame and her family had gossip at a time when there was absolutely no political record to discuss.

My guess- it was an Obamaphile who went to Alaska, seduced that girl, and got her pregnant JUST so there would be gossip. (Or, more likely scenario, they tried but it was too late- Jesus finally has a baby brother on the way.)
I thought I was capable of being a histrionic drama queen upon occasion, but nothing beats the straight variety. If you’re selecting a president based on such a notion then you don’t deserve the right to vote.

True, Christ never said jack about abortion, and the Jewish tradition he came from didn’t outlaw it- even considered it advisable in some cases- and Jesus said he was there to fulfill the law- but luckily the Christians of today know better. It’s murder pure and murder simple. Hence all the funeral services for miscarriages. In fact I’m sure that if there were a place where you could take newborn babies and have them euthanized, there’d be absolutely no more outrage than there is outside of an abortion clinic, for gassing a one month old baby is no different than aborting a first trimester fetus.

I guess I’m part of that 1% and didn’t even know it. Do we have a name? Motto? Dues? Mascot?

After this thread, TVblen is my hero.

Once just wasn’t enough!

This whole thing reeks of attention whoring. Hence my response in this thread.

Seriously. ***Breaking News: Republican Behaves Disingenuosly ***- film at 11:00.

Sure, as long as we can also agree that since neither side has a monopoly on truth and virtue, the law should allow each of us to make the choice for ourselves.

Perfect thread summation, that.

" I have had a brief glimpse of the light but walking to it is taxing; far easier to fling the dung that magically appears at my feet".

I think Jewish tradition is more ambivalent than you’re stating. I know the famous passage that said that if the mother’s life was endangered during giving birth, the child’s skull could even be crushed mid-delivery. The Orthodox certainly take a stronger stance on elective abortion, however. The issue probably never came up to Jesus. However, within the first century, as the Church (quite possibly the Jamesian Jewish wing) confronted Gentile culture, it drafted the Didache, which does condemn (at least) elective abortion.

You list that as a reason why Palin is so evil?

I’m just waiting for the thread on that to appear in GD!

Hey, man, everyone gets those irresistible urges to lash out – and many who centered on “Preggersgate” instead of real issues with Sarah Palin were in the throes of the same urge. In this thread you have reconsidered your initial reaction. In another thread **DtC **has acknowledged that an accusation he made of “hypocrisy” was not called for.
But face it, in your own threads over the past few months I’ve felt a vibe of “oh, dear, please, please let there be a reason for me to NOT have to vote for Obama!” which I found (we’re in the Pit, right?) fucking unbecoming of someone in your station in life. You should be able to evaluate which candidate will do best for the country by your standards, or which you find more in tune to your values, and if there is some element of their respective positions that is a deal-breaker (choice/life, or torture, or climate change, or universal health care) then so be it. No need to look for an excuse!
I think that the two headliners have made so much of an effort to run “clean” that a lot of the lower-tier followers started panicking that they weren’t making the opponent bleed. So they’re jumping at everything. As I mentioned upon the Bristol announcement in a Lost Post, hell this is a golden opportunity for Palin to show off just how they are being the kind of good, compassionate, supportive Christian family they claim is “real America”.
So go ahead and vote GOP as you have really wanted to in your heart all along, Bricker. It’s up to you, and only you, to examine yourself and decide if you’re making a choice between what is right and what feels right.

The “I’ll show THEM” strategy seems to be the best thing John Bus… er, John McCain </TomRidge> has going for him.

Nothing to add here, except this is the single, most fucking funny thing I’ve seen on here in quite a while.
