Dream Theater: “Metrpolis Part 2: Scenes From a Memory”
Overkill: “Necroshine”
Grip Inc.: “Solidify”

Damn, this could go on forever.

It’s a long way to heaven, but only three short steps to hell.

I’d like to publicly thank Mr. String for picking an album on the label I work for! All unsolicited, even!

Yer pal,
Satan

At least he didn’t pick Slaughter’s new album, you know the one that has sold like 200 copies.

Wow, actually Slaughter’s “Back to Reality” it up over 15,000 now.

let’s see:

The Misfits - Famous Monsters
Lit - A Place in the Sun
Tori Amos - To Venus and Back
Blink 182 - Enema of the State

How do you like that! And without so much as a “Kiss my foot” or “Have an apple”!

That Scriabin album that Boulez did with the Chicago.

The Grateful Dead box set, SO MANY ROADS.

DICKS PICKS, vol. 15.

(ChiefScott, Frankd6, Dirty Devil, and any other Deadheads on the board: PICK UP DP-15 IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY!!! It’s the Raceway Park show in Englishtown, NJ, September 1977…the first “Peggy-O” to make it into DP, and an “Eyes of the World” that’ll melt your eardrums.)

Uke

So Peter, aside from making porn movies, what do you do in the industry which lets you check Soundscan?

Yer pal,
Satan

I’m just a fan of music…
Seriously, I found a site on the web…
http://www.metal-sludge.com/SludgeScanChart.htm

Hey look, Overkill made it over 20,000!

Hmm…

Live - The Distance to Here
Our Lady Peace - Happiness (Is Not A Fish You Can Catch)
Splender - Halfway Down The Sky
Dave Matthews Band - Before These Crowded Streets
Eddie From Ohio - Looking Out The Fishbowl

And I’ll stop there, before Satan calls me a hippie again for the last two…

Oh yeah! The metal-sludge site RULES!

We were all laughing about it one day in the office. We put “CMC” in the search engine and got to enjoy every disparaging word against us!

Yer pal,
Satan

love metal sludge dude! so funny… i love the 20 questions and some of the album reviews!

…c.c…c.c…

Un-fucking-believable. I guess this is confirmation that my friend Corey’s shitty little band really has made it. In a way I’m happy for him, but I’d be more enthused if he would have stuck it out and tried to get somewhere by actually singing. Cowgod, if you hadn’t listed Moby, I’d be tempted to criticize your taste in music.

I was wondering if anyone else had noticed that…

I really like Fiona Apple’s new one, “When the Pawn…”, but that’s to be expected, because she is wonderful and great and good and I love to listen to her music.

“…all the prettiest girls live in Des Moines…”
–Jack Kerouac, On the Road

I think these were all this year…

Tom Waits–Mule Variations
Steve Earle and the Del McCoury Band–The Mountain *
The Roots–Things Fall Apart *
The Indigo Girls–Come On Now Social

I just picked up the new Phish box set (Hampton Comes Alive)–so far, it kicks ass.

Dr. J

  • If these two albums both make anyone else’s list, I’ll be impressed. I hope I’m not the world’s only fan of both rap and bluegrass.

Hole, “Celebrity Skin” (yeah, yeah, I know–shut up)

Fuzzy, “Hooray for Everything”

Elvis Costello/Burt Bacharach, “Painted from Memory” (technically last year, but I bought it in January)

"I prefer shows of the genre, “World’s Blankiest Blank.”

I must concur with whoever said Rage Against the Machine’s ‘Battle of Los Angeles’

I would say the new Beastie Boys 2-CD compilation but that doesn’t really count as an album I guess.

Other then that, honorable mentions must go to Red Hot Chili Peppers’ newest effort ‘Californication’

Imthecowgodmoo, I don’t know exactly when Crystal Method’s “Vegas” came out, but I know I had it before May, 1998.
