So, I was laid off from my job last october, and have been without work since. I was a warranty manager/phones/service writing/cashier. They rolled my job onto someone else. Now, they are shy a service writer, and my name has come up for this position, temporary or not. So I went in today and met the new service manager and we sat and chatted for a bit whereupon he asked me to come back in a few days.
So after that I went and talked with the (SW) service writer who had taken on my old job. I have heard a few critical things from this person aimed my way after I was let go. So I have always more or less tried to be friendly and let stuff go that was said etc… So were chatting it up for a few minutes and then I ask a few warranty related job questions. SW responds that they dont know, they get very distant about the COOP money issue (I was the only authorized person for this money, and without me there they shouldnt have access to it unless they send someone in for the training), and I get a few commments on “how we dont do things that way anymore” ( referring to problem warranty repairs that I would sometimes have to wait on, and SW couldnt stand that). Then I see SW is doing everything the hard way, labor codes are back in a book, stored 20 ft away instead of all the handy quick look up pdf’s I had, codes are the same way instead of the handy 4 pages I had posted right by me for super quick reference. And, best of all, SW wont talk to IT to get the same double monitor setup I had. All the stuff I had setup to save hours of time every week is not being utilized, all for the sake of I did it that way, there for SW wont.
I’m really irritated and frustrated about this.
And now I’m not sure if I should continue trying to get this service writer position, cause I will have to deal with this person all the time. And watch SW do my old job, that I enjoyed and knew and still know all about.
My only other job opportunities so far are waiting on HR at a major corporation to decide if they want to fill the empty positions the managers desperately need people for.
At least I get to see Futurama tonight, and new Top Gear sunday.
