What’s so weird about this to me is that I actually agree with a lot of what that mother says…I wouldn’t give my kids antibiotics unless I was absolutely sure they needed it, and I don’t give medicine to reduce low fevers. But what is it that makes people take seeming sensible approaches to these kinds of things, and apply them in dangerous situations where more intervention is clearly indicated? I’ve seen these women on other message boards posting about how happy they are that their kids have caught measles…it almost seems pathalogical to me, because it is such an unnatural maternal reaction to be happy that your child is sick. I mean, back when we were kids, moms didn’t get all bent out of shape over chicken pox, because the best way to deal with it was to get it young, but they didn’t get all excited about it, as though getting chicken pox was some kind of sacrament.

Welcome to the Pit. Oh, I already said that. Character assassination as part of argument is part of the fun here - don’t like that - stay in Great Debates. However, if you stay in Great Debates you are going to be expected to back up what you say with reputable cites - like from the CDC - or you will be written off as a wacko. I am reminded of the old story about Mr. and Mrs. Squirrel. Their marriage had never been the best. One winter though he just went overboard hoarding acorns … putting them everywhere - the cabinets ran out of room, the closets were full, he even stuffed them into their pillows and their mattress was stuffed with them to the point of overflowing. She had it and left him.
Well he got lonely. Squirrel porn sites aside. One night surrounded by his acorns he had a wonderful dream of having sex with his wife.
We can only hope that foresam too wakes up and realizes that he’s just fucking nuts.
