Islamic State in Iraq and Levant (Isil) is increasingly exploiting the huge migrant flows to slip jihadist cells through undetected to launch attacks in the UK and elsewhere.

They are mainly travelling on fake Syrian or Iraqi passports which are now so sophisticated it is almost impossible to distinguish between genuine refugees and terror suspects.
The concerns will increase pressure on European leaders to get a grip on the migrant crisis that is engulfing the EU.

To be clear - no evidence whatsoever is cited for any of this, beyond the fears of intelligence officials, correct?
While I see why wild worries about sleeper cells would grab the headlines, it’s odd how buried this part of the story is:
I don’t think this backs many opponents of refugees line that they should just stay in Turkish camps, so it could be a big point in the rational debate.
I’m a left winger myself but I have to say plenty of them are some of the most rabid defenders of Assad, Putin and their ilk. Reading their comments one would think the Syrian conflict had nothing to do with Bashar Assad, that he never used force against protesters in the first place and that the conflict in Ukraine is 100% the west’side fault and Putin is just helping.
So I beg to differ.
Many of the genuine Syrian refugee’s want to stay close to their borders remember they still have family and friends in Syria they do not really want to go to Europe. Building a permanent camp with good accommodation, schools and medical services is the answer. This allows people to be checked before travelling to other countries if they wish
When the war is over people can return home and the host country can inherit what will be a fully functioning town
Yes they want to stay close to Syria, which is why they have been in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey since the conflict began. A million in each nation, remember Jordan and Lebanon are tiny. But these nations can’t take in all of the refugees, there is only a limit.
Most of these refugees are pretty much refugees, they qualify considering that Syria is in conflict and many are escaping war in their homeland. For anyone to say these are mostly economic migrants, has to either be a lying, eight wing Nazi fascist, or just plain stupid. Or boh.
That being said there among them people who are not actually Syrian, with some being Algerian, Moroccan, Iranian etc posing as Iraqis and Syrians because they think(correctly) that they will be allowed in if they are thought to be from Iraq and Syria rather than peaceful Morocco.
Some of those involved in the sex attacks in Cologne were not Syrian or refugees at all, two were Algerian.
My point is that just because a middle eastern looking person rapes, does not mean they are Syrian migrants.
Europe is close to Syria.
Is the senior EU official I quoted a Nazi or stupid? Please explain why I should assume Nema98 is less stupid or less a liar than Frans Timmermans, former Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs.

I’m not sure if you have noticed, but there are not a lot of Nazis around any more. Those whose sense of purpose and identity depends on having Nazis to oppose will invent or hallucinate them. This usually occurs whenever they see a windmill or encounter an opinion they disagree with or can not comprehend.
Like I said there are those economic migrants from peaceful countries that come into Europe and pose as Syrians and Iraqis. In reality they maybe from other parts of the Arab World.
But I still am not convinced that the vast majority of those risking their lives are economic migrants and not fleeing war and danger. Just because a high level EU official says something does not make it the case.
According to your quote, this is according to a border agency. However I would like to see convincing proof that most of these are economic migrants. Is there proof they are not from Syria, and these are all Algerians or Libyan or whatever? If they are Syrian, then on what basis does the border agency say these Syrians just want a job not fleeing war, nevermind their country is in war? I’m curious how he can tell a Syrian is here for jobs and not for the civil war, was a background check conducted and determined that so and so is from certain city in Syria and that city is not being bombed by Assad, Russia or encroached by ISIS, so therefore he is here for jobs?
I don’t find this covincing, you’ll need more than your quote of a EU official who in turn uses “data” from an EU border agency, to really show that these Syrians and Iraqis are economic migrants.
So suddenly economic migrants took up a surge to Europe in 2015 crossing and risking their lives and in unprecedented numbers not seen since WWII, yeah that’s it not the war in Syria?
Please give me better links that SHOW how it was determined these people did not flee war.
