Okay, can't we just split the country in two fucking pieces?

Look,

Red states, blue states, politically we hate each other.
Why the fuck do we have to be the same country still?

I live in a red state and I’m willing ot relocate. If we don’t seperate we’ll never be happy because we are being dominated by “red america”

Its just that simple

Someone on a morning talk show said something to the effect of:

Damn buttons, this is what sleep deprivation does…

Anyways he said something like:

Ok, we have the issue of slavery settled now, can we let the South secede and start their own confederacy?
I thought it was pretty cute.

Uh, Lissa?

Where did you go?

I mean really? We are so fucking different anyway and its not going to get any better. I got no desire to even have those fundementalists reeducated or changed. If they want to be backwards, let them, but we progressives shouldn’t be dragged down with them.

Here is my verbatim Livejournal post from last night:

The real question those of us on the West Coast & in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeastern states should be asking is: do we really need the South and the Midwest? What the fuck do they do for this country anyway? Personally, I’d be just as happy if we gave all that shitty land back to the Indians.

Tongue in cheek? Not a whole lot.

Well, there is our sense of perspective.

Woodstockbirdybird, take a look at the county results for California. We can do without the nutjobs in the Bay Area and LA County. The rest of the state is solidly Republican.

Do we really need the Bay Area? What the fuck do they do for the country anyway?

Well, fuck,

Who would really disagree anyway? The red states?

The states that have a democratic majority can have split off and if their people don’t like it they can move.

Damnit.

Kerry would have been a good president.

Funny. I was commented last night that “see where the red is? That’s really the area that will never get attacked.”

[sub]Don’t tell me about OK either[/sub]

For fuck’s sake, red state vs blue state just shows which candidate a simple majority was likely to vote for. California isn’t anywhere near 100% Democrat, nor Georgia 100% Republican.

OTOH, you have a point, what with all the election-realted violence that took place. Oh, wait, that didn’t happen either.

Anyway, According to the way things shook out, you’d need to break the country up into at least four sections, since the states that went Kerry were in three widely-separated clumps.

Too much bother, really.

Jesus, when did everybody on these boards become such humorless PC weenies?

Darn tootin’! I want a divorce! Northeast, Great Lakes, and West Coast let’s pull out of here!

If we made separate countries for everyone in the U.S. who thought differently, we’d have a couple hundred million different countries.

By all means. Why should Israel have the only Gaza?

It might not be such a bad idea. We could break the United States up into separate nations and end up with a map that looks like another Europe. I don’t think Europe has done too badly for itself.

Oh, I’m not actually supporting that this be done, just saying that it wouldn’t be quite as horrible as what may be imagined.

How is that? By somehow not connecting with the American people even more?

Wrong choice, anytime.

I say we make everything purple and be done with it.

Look, here’s the fact.

Only around 2 percent of Americans liked both Bush and Kerry.

We used to not be so divided. I can’t say who is to blame. I think its the Republicans, but I am a liberal, so I can’t have any claim to objectivity.

Yeah, I want a divorce. There is no need for us to be in the same country anymore anyway.
