Last Wednesday at the RNC, the Bush girls attended a party with several friends at the Avalon Club. They ran up a bar tab of around $4500.
Their tip? $45.

What’s the problem? The Bush girls’ conduct seems perfectly compatible with the Republican philosophy of contempt for the American worker.
Maybe they were tipping $1 a drink, and between them and their “several” friends put down 45 $100 drinks?

One bottle of wine, potentially. (I’ve frequently seen wine lists with one or more high-end bottles in this range. Of course, I was looking in the cheaper ranges.)

That seals the deal for me. I definately want to party with the Bush girls. I’ve tried my best and the most I’ve ever clocked on a bar tab in Chicago was $300. They must be some type of reverse ethics Hunter Thompsons…

Perhaps the server wrote a note on the bill. Or maybe the girls are at war with all servers, in a misguided attempt at revenge against the waitstaff that turned them in for underage drinking.
Salon says that they were with an entourage of 25 (click to get a free day pass by watching a short ad), so each person drank $180 worth of liquor. Can $180 even get you buzzed in Manhatten?
Chidope 2K2 Friday night bartab was over $1K (I think it was 1,096). Saturday night’s bartabs (two groups) ran over that, I believe.
Maybe they had a couple bottles of Johnny Walker, Blue Label. This site has it listed at $200 a bottle. Now, take into account that they were in Manhatten, and that a shot will cost more than just an equal portion of the bottle, and it’s entirely possible to break $4,500.
Or they could just be ignorant cunts. But I’d still do Jenna.

Whoa. I thought that leaving a $48 tip on a $4500 bill was bad, but The Salon article says that the Page Six article said

And then they stiffed the server on the tip. That’s really bad.
The difference being that ChiDopers know how to tip. Our waitress that Friday night ROCKED and she deserved every penny of the huge tip we left her.
They were COMPED and left $45? I am almost physically ill with rage. You run up $4,500 in vodka (probably Absolut :rolleyes: ), you’re given the gift of NOT having to spend the money after all, and instead of leaving at least a THOUSAND dollar tip, you leave FORTY-FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS? I change my mind about the death penalty.
