Yes, but are there dinosaurs hiding behind the couch?
Seriously, there are some really good concepts in there…a lot of stuff I would like to have (gas fireplace, EngergyStar Appliances).
The pre decorated, pre lighted artificial Christmas tree in the closet is genius.
It’s a great house, all the more surprising considering a) it was designed with the homeowner’s needs in mind, using the most ideal technology, and not on what the architect wants, and b) it came from Dilbert, which you wouldn’t expect to take seriously.
Adams has some great ideas in there. I love the interior courtyard, which allows cats to be outdoor creatures safely.
I wonder just how much it would cost to build.
Now it’s not really from Dilbert, it’s from Adams. He seems to be a really head on straight kind of guy. He even started his own line of healthy vegetarian microwave burritos so that you can get a fast meal and not worry that you are rotting your gut. And I agree with most of his critiques of modern business management.
The house rocks but for one minor feature - the curving walls. Can’t hang large pictures on them, more expensive to build.
I thought it was ironic that after denigrating rooms like a living room or a formal dining room as wasted space because they don’t get used often enough, there’s a room set aside for the sole purpose of storing a fully assembled and decorated Christmas tree.
No, the tree doesn’t get its own room, just a closet.
I was picturing a tree that would fold up like an umbrella, saving even more space.
I agree. I don’t like the curved walls. I’d want something with more of a Midwest or East Coast feel. And forget that observation room; I want a tower, at least a full story or two taller than the rest of the house. Actually, it would probably end up looking like a lighthouse, but that would be OK.
Other than that, it’s pretty sweet. I like the center courtyard, and the dedicated cat room. And I love the Christmas tree closet
Apparently the kids’ bathroom is all tiled, with a drain in the middle of the floor…for fast easy hosing down.
Heck, that might not be a bad idea for the kids’ BEDROOM!
