Okay, yet another cool ‘60s comic book search question

Somewhere between 1966 and 1968, when I was 5-7, I bought a comic book from an off-brand publisher (Charleton, maybe) about a giant blue robot (say, 15 feet tall) with long red bulbs for eyes, that landed on earth from an alien planet.

It was discovered by two benevolent scientists who also found its control panel. They put it through paces, determining it was super-strong and invulnerable to all the usual weapons, and planned to turn it into a Force For Good.

The last panel featured a malevolent scientist who constructed an override to the good guys’ control, planning to turn the robot to a Force For Evil.

This was the first comic in a series that may have never led to a second book.

Who can google this better than me? I have a crisp new five-dollar bill for you.

Maybe a particular issue of Magnus, Robot Fighter such as this one?:

Googling “tall robot rare comic” turned up this; don’t know how well it fits your dates, though. Was it new when you bought it?

Nope, not Magnus. I dearly loved Magnus, especially the robot designs.

I’ve seen “Bozo the Robot” in one of those “bizarre fucking comics” collections. These are far too early. Big Blue Robot Comix was purchased, new, possibly in a package of four unassociated comic books, at Cleveland Hopkins Intl airport around 1966-8.

This seems to match your description:

Bless your soul, I think you NAILED IT!

Great linked commentary, too…the most pointless and dumb Giant Robot in comics ever!
