Good for those at the clinic. My cousin (younger) just had his leg whacked off below the knee due to lack of care/circulation/diabetes issues - also known as gangrene. Please take care.
Beck, Beck, Beck…
You want Alba “very emollient” body lotion.
Stuff works. Makes dry skin get all supple and so forth.
I like that word ‘emollient’ (:))
Alot better than that word ‘gangrene’(:()
O’Keefe’s is great stuff. In the Winter my hands crack open all over. It’s really pretty gross, and leaves me looking like a small-time boxer. O’Keefe’s works, and it doesn’t sting.
The only thing better is my own cream, of which I just made a batch. 5 parts vegetable glycerin, two parts apricot oil, one part vegetable wax, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil(s). I used pineapple, basil, grapefruit, and tangerine. But it mostly just smells like pineapple.
The one thing you’ll need is a stick blender. Otherwise, it’s just not worth all the whisking. melt the wax gently in a large pan and then add the other stuff. Blend until it’s white and creamy. Set it aside to cool and blend again every 15 minutes or so while it’s cooling so it doesn’t separate.
Once it’s cool it will stay together as long as it doesn’t get heated up too much.
Use it by the drop. seriously. Most lotions have a good deal of water in them. You don’t need very much of this at all.
Works like a charm.
You can get it in a gallon jug.
I’ve threatened for years to buy a hot tub and fill it with Lanacane.

I just looked up Amantle cream in a 16 oz jar on Amazon. It listed for $999.99. A one ounce tube is more economical at $219.99. I hope the formula has ground up diamonds in it.
Jeezus!
TruCelt, what does the wax component do?
It’s on Ebay for a lot less ($20). Sometimes there are real pricing problems with Amazon or Ebay could have imitation products for sale.
You do some clicking on Amazon, and you can find “Acid Mantle” cream for $469.99.
Both AMantle and Acid Mantle are made by PharmaDerm.
Now, the Acid Mantle I bought 25 or so years ago was made by Sandoz.
I sniff hanky panky. Ownership changes, proprietary formilae are sold, and the new kids can do whatever they like.

I have the same problem with dried and cracking skin on my feet. I suffered for years using all kinds of medications requiring a prescription.
Then I just happened to be in a pharmacy that I had never previously visited run by some elderly pharmacist and he recommended I try Noxzema creme. I tried it and it gave me better results than any other previous creme I had tried.
It doesn’t even require a prescription.
I have used urea creams for my feet and I’ve found they work very well on dry, cracked skin. They are much, much cheaper than AMantle cream. I wonder how they would compare in side-by-side tests.
It would be very very difficult to conduct a side-by-side test, because ain’t NOBODY buying that Acid Mantle or AMantle shit for five hundred or a thousand bucks!

I know I ain’t.
Wonder if I can get a script for it? My high-end co-pay is $30.
I’ll ask for the biggest container and split it with everyone. In the interest of science…mind you.
(:))
That’s for sure, but I did do some noodling around and The Naked Chemist has a blog that discusses urea. I actually suspect that that is what is in AMantle and that they are just marketing it to the medical community and throwing the high price on it. The cheaper stuff probably has some very similar ingredients but don’t have high-priced marketing involved.
It keeps the whole thing from being liquid, and keeps the components mixed after they settle. Also makes it “creamy” rather than “sticky.” At this low amount though, it doesn’t lay on the skint he way some creams do. The skin just sucks it right up with all that glycerin.
Keep in mind this is vegetable wax, not bees wax or paraffin, which would both act differently.
Makes sense! Thank you.
