Old 1930s German Book Question

I have a book printed in 1937, in German, titled “Peter Mönkenmann. Freikorpskämpfer an der Ruhr”. The author is Tudel Weller. Googling hasn’t been a big help.

Anyone know anything about this book? My German is spotty, so all I know is that:

  1. It’s from the Nazi era.
  2. About a man in the Friekorps.
  3. Might take place in the Ruhr region of Germany.

I’m not sure exactly what you’re after, but a google search of the author brought up some google books matches. They seem to have been quite pro-Nazi.

Mainly I’m wondering what the book is about. I got it with a box full of other books with publication dates between 1900-1960 at a used book store.

The “freikorps” were groups of ex-soldiers who fought with communists in the streets. Herman Goering commanded one such group. they were active in the rise of the nazis to power, and greatly destabilized the Wiemar Republic.

Link to some listings for it on Bookfinder.com:

You might try contacting one of them and asking them to flip through their copy and tell you.

It’s about a young man who finds his way into the Freikorps where he makes a best friend (spoiler alert: eventually martyred!) and learns a sense of purpose fighting communist agitators and treasonists. At the end, he concludes that he will dedicate himself to the Fatherland, if only the right Leader comes along, because the Fatherland will always need men like Peter.

Typical agitprop, as best I can tell.

Dude, you’ve started threads on Mengele, a concentration camp visit, psychological doubling among Nazi doctors, a Nazi bayonet, and now agitprop for the Fatherland. I advise you to widen your interest set!

I love the username and post combo, Maserschmidt!!  But yeah, Brodi - ?

Have an interest in it, so what?

You’re absolutely right, of course. Hope my link helped.

It did, thanks!
