(Old) Ain't gonna move no more in the MMP

ISWYDT.

… including coding the correct punctuation?

There’s brownies, and then there’s brownies yanno?

Isn’t that illegal? Firefighters aren’t supposed to be causing safety hazards …

Speaking of firefighters, why, is that the dulcet sounds of (illegal?) fireworks I hear?

Why yes, yes it is.

Gonna head back outside in a few and see if the bats come out tonight. I gotta work open → close tomorrow, so if it’s happenin’ then … :musical_note: tonight’s the niiiiiiight:notes:

Does your church have any sort of bulletin board where folks can post ads?

Is there something you’d feel comfortable “advertising” yourself doing, e.g. cleaning homes or babysitting, or maybe dog-walking/pet-sitting?

Just throwin’ it out there.

Enjoy your cake.

(snicker) Fair point.

Wow! Glad you are not dealing with the fire craziness.

I ended up ordering from an Italian restaurant. Mozzarella sticks and chicken Alfredo. The furniture shuffle ended at 7 pm when the sneezing started.

After putting just the cat blanket on the shelf thing, koritza sat there for a bit. I just sprayed catnip on it, she sniffed and walked away to sleep in the bedroom.

One bat. Which is better than no bats.

There’s also a half-moon, half hidden by hazy clouds.
(Say that three times fast!)

Monkey headed off into the twilight like he often does, but I ain’t stressin’ yet. The side door is barely almost-shut so he can push it back open if he wants to let himself in.

Oh, I stopped at the dispo on the way home for four (4) prerolls, and not only did the manager handwave away my - admittedly paltry - tip, he threw in two extras for free.

They lurve me.

Now I need to figure out dinner, and then … I have an incredibly sore spot on my shoulder blade, and I’m thinking a loooooonnnnnng hot shower is in order.
Plus, I got a sample of some CBD muscle pain cream stuff - it was a dollar, I figured, what the hell, see if it works - and to re-use my own dumb joke, I think that … :notes: toniiiiight’s the niiiiiiiight …" :musical_note:

They were saving the FIRE STATION, tax payers be damned.

Letters will be written, phone calls will be made. Nothing will change.

It makes me happy to be able to look across the street and see a real fire hydrant. I’ve never lived anywhere with one close enough to see, the local fire departments always carried their own water and if they ran out, oh well, sucks to be you.

We haz bats here, but I have to close the curtains before they start flying lest the silly things bang on the windows. I heard one thump on the window and Hubs found a dead one out the back door so we are paying attention to the lights back there. We don’t want any more dead bats.

I napped. I dreamed I was in a sea of refugees on a narrow path with falling apart bridges, with my dad and Yaphet Kotto. but we still had time to steal a bunch of gold, and hole up in a motel where my apartment was. We need to talk about the bonus situation. So I’m up and having a Vieux Carré, and Spot is having Zoomies.

Spot likes ice water out of my glass, so I changed the big plastic bowl for a nice glass one. I had to change back, because he was fully committed to dying of thirst before accepting change.

< flashes back to this morning >
I’m sure it’s…fine. Yeah. Fine.

This.

I see what you did there.

And how.

Well, with automated facilities, everything works faster and more efficiently, till something goes wrong. Then it goes wrong in a extremely fast and efficent manner.

I want kitteh pictures!

Pretty sure we’ll hafta wait until she, yanno, acquires said kitteh.

Any other kitteh pics welcome

Spot

Thank you.

Happy Saturday!

Lots going on to keep me busy, yet in reality, nothing is going on.
Just the usual little piddly crap stuff that has to be done, even though doing it doesn’t really change anything.
IYKWIM

We had some rain and the corn grew about two feet overnight.
I have never seen corn planted like it is now. Usually corn is in nice rows. This corn looks like somebody just tossed seeds around and it came up whereever.
We used to be able to ride our horses between the rows of corn. This corn is much more tightly packed together.

I had catching up to do.
Read all, remember little though.

I’ve re-primed the Seca II cowling. Tomorrow morning I’ll sand it again, this time verifying I’m using 1500 grit, and then wash it. I’ll move the MGB and the R1 out of the canopy garage, and move the ladder and ‘boom’ into it. SWMBO will make me go to church with her tomorrow, so I’m planning to paint the cowling in the afternoon. Assuming this comes off according to plan, I might drive the MGB down to the self-wash to spray it off, and put the hood in the boot. Maybe I’ll even take the R1 out for a short ride.

The shades over the bedroom window seem to help. The shade for the front window should arrive Tuesday. I took the front off of my fan and washed it, and the fan blades. Not perfectly clean, but it’s better than it was. It seems to have helped. The portable a/c is on now, but we didn’t turn it on until hours later than we have done.

SWMBO wanted pizza for dinner. We got a medium (14-inch) Hawaiian pizza, and I ordered extra sauce and the thin crust. Fewer carbs with the thin crust, and it doesn’t overwhelm the toppings. We also shared a small Greek salad.

Monkey is already back, for those keeping score at home.

What kind of gravy, may I inquire?

My mother has informed me that 1a.) my phone is back on, and 2b.) I need to call her for further being bitched at instructions.

Yay.

So while I investigate my free joints run Coolio nonstop before a shower imma procrastinate a bit.

As I was leaving work, my S.M. was outside for one of her quick 3-puff smoke breaks. Because noone else was around, she was comfortable giving me the best pep talk about dealing with my mom I’ve heard in a while.

Mind you, one of her minor hidden superpowers is a lovely singing voice:

:musical_note: "If it maaaakes you haaaaaappy
Then why don’t you gofuckyourself … " :notes:

Cracked me up, it did.

Poor Coolio is getting a workout in this hyoomid weather, but I am thoroighly cleaned and am assimilating both the CBD cream (review so far: solid “meh”) and a Hungry WoMan tray o’food.

Yes, the brownie went first. Can’t let it sit around getting stale, now, can we?

Call to La Madre went better than I thought, mostly because I medicated as needed ahead of time was very obsequious and groveled appropriately.

She DID get my phone turned back on - again - and ran some serious interference between me and my dad, so I will absolutely give her props for that.

Found an old tub of a different CBD cream, this is the “warming” kind. (Kinda like Tiger Balm?) Rubbed some of that on, and oh, my goodness.

I smell like 2,000+ years of old lady, but dang, does that feel good.

Ratties will hafta make do with brown rice tonight - they’re already hittin’ those water bottles. Still owe both sneks a big meal … perhaps next Blessed Day Off.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and partly N.O.S. with a predicted high of 98 and N.O.S. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization, wherein I get to plop in a pew. After that it’s back to da cave for sammiches, nappage, sloth, day drinkin’ and other appropriate RDOS activities. We may or may not get in some quality cee-mint pond time.

red glad the family reunion went well. Reports about my family reunions always begin, “the survivors were…”

JtC I think the date and walnut bars and ice cream cups would be a hit. The trick would to keep the ice cream from meltin’ before dessert time.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

I got about 7 hours of sleep - that seems to be the exception rather than the rule, but it felt good. Except towards the end, there was a strange dream about flying to Australia and carry-on bags and something about cleaning windows on the car, plus the airplane was huge - like theater huge with similar seats. My sleeping brain has a mind of its own.

Today, Daughter and SIL are coming over to get the twin mattresses for the loft beds, then they’ll stash Roxy’s old bed in the attic over FCD’s shop, along with other stuff. I’ll wrangle the kids and Trevor. FCD is going back to work on the boat, despite making a short day of it yesterday because he was in pain. I think the man is insane sometimes.

We’ve got 4 days of gawd-awful heat ahead, but it’ll drop to the low 80s come Thursday. And somewhere in there, I need to go to CVS - someone screwed up my anti-seizure meds info. I’m supposed to take 2 a day - one in the morning and one at night - so a 60 pill bottle will last 30 days. Well, it’s the 25th day and I can’t get a refill (according to the phone and website.) I’ll be heading over in person to get it straightened out and refilled. That’s something I absolutely do not need to run out of. I’ll probably have to wait till tomorrow to deal with that.

And I need to mow, but not today - too wet, plus kids and visiting dog.

Speaking of dog, Higgs is not happy about reduced meal size. She acts like she’s starving to death when I feed her. But FCD has been good about not giving her random snacks, so maybe we can get those extra pounds off her. I can’t believe it’s taken this long for him to listen to me and the vet!! Some people…

Happy Bastille day and Happy Sunday!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. It’s supposed to be hot again, so I shall clean early then sloth in the afternoon. Spot is watching Vermin TV.

Appropriately, I have no cake.

Last family reunion we had, my Aunt Mary made Day-Glo lime green Clarkfest t-shirts for everybody.

Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/63f with a predicted high of 19c/65f, and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s cloudy because the sun fucking hates you. And by you, I mean fucking all of us.” We also have a weather warning for periods of heavy rain and potential localised flooding. Which means it’s going to be dry all day.

Taters welcome back! I think you deserve a day of having someone else do everything for you after that mammoth trip. I’m glad most of your driving was scenic and unencumbered by road-idiots.

flyboy Hope you get the sanding/priming/painting finished and you’re happy with the result.

JtC I’m glad your friends and the cats are safe, it would be good to disable all those alerts from AZ now that you don’t need them. Does WV have anything you need to be alerted about instead?

Moooom Sorry to hear that MIL is continuing to be vexacious, I’m glad she didn’t decide to call FCD Harwood, that just sounds totally wrong for him.

Swampy Sounds like you had a fun weekend of entertaining, now you need to recover and get back to normal RDOS slothery.

Pilot Thanks for the explanation about BB’s family background and the funeral rehearsal. Makes much more sense now.

Sticky Buns Even though it is an expensive bandage, it’s good to know that you haven’t done any serious damage to yourself.

We had a very good night out yesterday. After doing our errands, we were home just before 4pm and about that time, our friend was checking into her accommodation. We got ready, and walked up to meet her. Then we went for some yummy Turkish food at a little restaurant we’ve been to before - every time I go past, it’s completely empty so I have no idea how it’s survived for so long! I think it must do a lot of business through Deliveroo, Just Eat, Uber Eats and suchlike. Since 'im indoors has fallen out of love with the Good Chinese Place, we may go to the Good Turkish Place for lunch on our way into town for a while.

After food, we took our friend to the Posada as she’d never been there and we like it. The tavern wench was outside having a crafty smoke, saw us and said “Oh no, not you two again!”, we told we’d brought reinforcements this time. Had a couple of drinks in there and a natter about stuff, then took ourselves off to the Giffard for the night’s entertainment.

The event was sold out so that was good news, and we arrived just as Connor Emms was starting up. He has his own band but this was a solo acoustic performance, although much of it was his band’s songs. It was very hot and sticky in the pub, so once he’d finished, we went out and hung around on the fire escape smoking area just chatting to people. Then we went back in as the main act started, another acoustic performance, this time from a local rock band - Gin Annie. We first saw them back in 2016 and have been fans ever since. They did a very good job, songs interspersed with stories and tour tales.

We hung around chatting to folks for a while afterwards, then got a cab back and dropped our friend off on the way. She recently retired from Greater Manchester Police to move back in with her mother who has dementia. Unfortunately she can’t get out as much as she wants to because she can’t leave her mum for too long so she really appreciates the times when she’s able to get someone else to take over the caring so she can have some time away.

We have very few plans for today, I was up early-ish to feed and medicate the cats, and change the litter trays. Then I went back to bed for a couple of hours! Got up again, and am sitting here rambling to you lot. We’ll have a couple of cups of tea, some lunch and then load up the car with a bunch of stuff that needs to go to the household waste/recycling centre. It’s not too far away, and it shuts at 4pm so we have a schedule there. I’m making meatballs and sketties for dinner later, and that’s about the extent of my plans. I’ll squeeze in a bit of slothage too.

After I was in bed last night, I had a terrible itching behind my right knee, so I went in search of some hydrocortisone in the hall medical stash. There, I found EIGHT tubes of triple antibiotic!!! EIGHT!!! Not to mention the one next to MIL’s recliner, the one on the sink in the hall bathroom, and the one next to her bed. I’m pretty sure most of them came with her when she moved here. Anybody need some generic neosporin??

I did eventually find some anti-itch stuff and I fell blissfully asleep.

Everyone is awake now. As soon as FCD gets out of the shower, I’m going to get clean and dressed. Daughter et al should be here within an hour or so. And soon my basement will be empty of beds - huzzah!!
