(Old) Ain't gonna move no more in the MMP

“I got 7 people, and no power to the SSLAWS.” - Smalls Sup
Yep, another one of those days. I got sent to the 100 and 200 Slides an hour in. Fewer closed items than last week, but still a lot of work. It almost looked like it would be a short day, then they sent 8 totes of chewed up packages down the 200 Slide, and right when the drivers were leaving the Head Sup sent down another, mixed in with stuff that should have gone out. Something like 60 chewed up bags of clothing, and a bunch of clothing with no invoices to match anything. It looked like maybe they replaced the SSLAW with a wood chipper. But I finished that up, bought an onion, came home and showered, and now laundry is washed and drying. Plus a gin&tonic to hep with this flareup of scurvy.

Glad you got some time with BB, Pilot

Flexible plans. I like that. And feel free to do nothing after that trip.

Feel better!.

I should weigh Spot. He’s not Maine Coon size, but he leaves impact crater when he walks across the couch.

Boo.

I woke up after the shopping trip, so cuddle time with lager and ice cream for breakies.

I landed on hallmark mystery for today’s entertainment. Garage sale mysteries. Very light and easy.

I have gotten one side of the living area cleared and mostly settled. There will be zuzhing of wee accessories. The other side is piled up. I will figure that out after I decide on lunch.

Koritza is restless still. Hopefully we will land on something that makes her happy. Lager is happy. He likes that the little shelf unit is next to my main chair (rocker of course). I hoped koritza would like the top of it, she keeps going on and off it. I tried putting her kitty blanket in a basket on top. She didn’t like it…I’m now trying just the blanket.

On to grub hub for the lunch search.

Correct wiper blades ave been installed. MIL is back home, chewing on ice - there’s an annoying sound for hours and hours. Not sure what we’ll have for supper. That’s my afternoon.

Rah.

Coppertone! I’m so sorry to hear that. :pensive:

Doggio don’t you think you’ve trashed enough stuff just to get attention by now!

Welcome home, Taters!

I normally buy breakfast bars that come by the case. They served them for breakfast at several schools that I worked at. But the price has been going up and up and up lately to the point that the last I looked on Amazon, they were nearly $100 for a case (up from $55ish). So, I decided I was done with that. I got busy making granola when we got home from the hospital. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to buy more oats and so we substituted some corn Chex and some Kix instead. Music Man just brought me some from the kitchen just now. It’s……. Ok. I’m sure it will be consumed, but not my best effort. Still it’s better than spending $100 on the bars!

Preparing for a guest = sweep, vacuum, mop, make up guest room, clean and make up cross-the-hall-bathroom, pick up our bedroom and clean our bathroom, clean fridge, take out trash/compost/recycling, do laundry, pick up our studies (= get my boxes of papers I’m sorting out of the hall and neatly stacked in my room), refill dish- and hand-soaps, carry furniture/area rugs/towels/tchotchkes around, phew. Gas the car, check tire pressure, clear off the dining table, water the plants, feed the neighbor’s cat and water her garden, go to the grocery. Phew again. Since we have at least 6 guests (2 individual, 2 pairs) visiting over the next two months, we will strive not to yield to siren song of entropy.

VBC didn’t weigh near as much as GG, but she walked like she had pile drivers for feet and left bigger craters than GG does.

Hubs and I want to get a not raggy tree before Bella gets here, but I’m concerned that GG will riot if his favorite scratcher is moved to Hub’s room. They can be so very picky about the Feng Meow in their domains.

I could never have even thought of those substitutes, how very clever of you! And to come up with something that’s OK instead of Not So Good is even better!!!

It is so easy to do, though. Once one thing has been left out of place for whatever reason, it just attracts company and then next time you look, you are all like Holy Cow, how did that happen?!?

Our check hasn’t gotten here and I don’t think it will until Monday. Hubs is not as sanguine as I am and is sure it has been lost or stolen. Since he didn’t want it to be direct deposited, there is no way to talk to a bank and he is just going to have to wait until Monday for it to show up or him to be able to call the title company (which was closed today) and get things figured out.

While I was digging through my stash, I found a Cyro-infused preroll and broke it up and put some in my pipe. It is very nice stuff, but shouldn’t be used unless one has nothing that needs to be done in the next couple of hours. I’ll save it for later, I still have things to do today.

Hubs has spent most of his day checking the porch table and setting his room up. He has rearranged twice (not unexpected) and thinks he’s got it the way he wants it now. He found the missing soup bowls when he was unpacking his printer (I did not ask, I did not want to know) but our cutlery is still AWOL.

We’ve been getting distracted because the Lakes are under per-evacuation orders “Get Set” and we haven’t thought to shut those notices off yet. But now that it’s happening, of course we will look and discuss.

My spies haven’t reported signs of lights in our old place despite evidence of occupation so I asked my head spy to knock on their door and tell them how to get the notices. She did and said they didn’t weren’t aware of what was going on and seemed happy to have been told.

I still hates them, tho.

The “tarted-up caravan” behind that place sold for 194G. Just insane.

ETA: Homes near the library and TC friend’s place are on fire. The fire fighters are trying to save the fire station

Tonight we heard again how her father’s middle name was Harwood and she thought that was such a pretty name and it’s what she wanted to call FCD - yep, heard that for the 427th time…

We had a few sprinkles and a brief, intense downpour, and now the sun is out. Then we were asked for the 293rd time if it’s always this hot here. Yes, I’m ranting. Not particularly patient today.

Supper was random for all of us. The rest of the day is for chillage.

I was going to paint the motorcycle cowling today. I sanded the primer, but inadvertently picked up 400 grit. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: Saw blue coming through in several places. So I re-sanded with 1500 grit and re-primed.

The excitement at the Lakes is winding up. The vacant lot next to the fire station is privately owned, so the county won’t maintain it. When the weeds get too tall and dry, one of the neighbors will go over and cut it down.

The unlucky person today hit a rock with his lawnmower blade and the spark started a fire. The wind took it and two snowbirds lost their trailers and one occupied home was heavily damaged. The fire station survived untouched thanks to the valiant efforts of all the county fire companies who sent trucks and crews to save the fire station.

The power company cut the power to the community due to concerns about the fire taking out a transformer, so that made things even better for the homes in the path of the smoke but after the fire station was safe, the fire fighters directed their attention to the neighborhood so were able to save the library and vape store.

We are so happy we are not there anymore.

??? Details would be good. Pictures, too.

Howdy Y’all! A good time was had by all today. We spent a couple of hours out by the cee-mint pond, then decided we’d had enough sun (plus so hyooomid out!), so we decided to be inside. Everybody showered, we grilled burgers, we day drank and we watched Serial Mom on Netflix. We all agreed all seven of the murders were justified. Plus it made us laugh, hoot, and holler. After that the boys left and we’ve been in chill mode. Truthfully, I could go to bed right now, but I want to give it a little while before I do.

MOOOOOOM cleanin’ the critter fountain, cleanin’ the ice maker, gettin’ a windshield replaced, pickin’ up MIL from Bible study, and gettin’ a bill of sale signed! I’d need at least three days to recover!

Pilot glad BB and you got some time together. OK, the “funeral rehearsal” makes more since now. I alread figured it was some sort of cultural thing. Y’all are aces for feedin’ the starvin’ concierge.

Sticky_Buns hope you can get some relief at the ER. OK, I see now you got an ace bandage. Hope it’s givin’ some relief.

Coppertone sorry it didn’t work out.

Taters welcome back. Hope you get some rest this weekend.

Lily nuttin’ gets us in gear to clean like overnight company. We have a cleanin’ service, but will still make extra sure the guest room and hall bathroom are super clean. Plus we try to be less slobby in the livin’ room, dinin’ room, and kitchen.

We used to have someone who cleaned very well, then during COVID pretended to wear a mask but took it off when she thought we weren’t looking, so buh-bye. We gots no katz at the moment, so the house doesn’t have that additional level of filthitude.

George of The Jungle’s girl friend is Ursella. George doesn’t know that she’s a girl so called her Fella. As a child watching the original cartoons, I didn’t get it so thought he was calling her Bella.

We will be naming our new feline overlord Bella. We would like to get a two to three year old white female, but you never know what you will find when you rummage around in the used cat bin.

It doesn’t really matter what we call her or him, they won’t pay attention anyhow. They are cats and that is what cats do.

Someday I will get a cat again. But not until I can afford to take care of it properly if it gets ill.

Oh, I don’t change sheets daily, hence the states of decay. He tended to bury them on his side of the bed.

I used to have one that had a battery on the ring end and a receiver that simply plugged into a wall outlet. Might be an option for you.

The family reunion went well. I got to see my uncle, sister, nieces and a whole mess of cousins. Food was et, lies swapped, cornhole and music played.

Now I’m watching the breaking news with Dad.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Evenin’ all. 8pm as I drivel and balconate in the fading light. NWS sez it’s 89/32 on teh way down to 81/27 overnight. A light breeze keeps the air moving. Earlier I saw a thin moon but it’s to the west now and probably behind some scattered high clouds to boot.

We had a pleasant day. She got moving around 8, so we had a nice :rabbit: :rabbit2: eye-opener together, some cuddles, a sorta doze, more fun, then shower and I drove us off to breakfast at a cute little Italian bakery / breakfast lunch place nearby: Cosa Duci Italian Bakery.

Driving home she noticed a carwash which happened to be the one I use. Her car was filthy and so we went back to the building, she hopped in her car and we drove both cars to the wash, got them done, then back to my building.

At which point we were casting about for something to do (besides the obvious) so we elected to go to the indoor snooty mall for a walk. We’d both dressed for indoors = frigid, while the outdoors was 92/33 and an outdoor walk wherever would have been real sweaty real quick. And she’d not brought her swim gear, so beach or pool was out. Anyhow we had a couple hours of walk and talk and browse and she bought a couple of things.

Back home, more rabbitastic recreation, a short doze, then it was time for a final shower and send her home to change and attend the family-only memorial.

I arranged for a haircut, and a pleasant meal at an outdoor eatery (in the shade): a “small plate” skirt steak with chimichurri and yucca and such. Then home, laundering used towels, and slowly reassembling the wreckage that was once my bedroom. And buggin’ you folks.

All told we were together for a hare under 24 hours. We did prove that that is a worthwhile amount of time. And especially if she comes this way because of the lack of fol-de-rol between her house and a hotel, check-in time, check-out time, etc. We are both much happier to do this more often, even if more briefly.

As to y’all …

Oopsie: Hoooo-ray for the proposal launching out of the gate at full throttle. That’s gotta be exciting. Even if you do “get” to mentor. There’s “helping” like your teenager helping make dinner and there’s “helping” like your 4 yo helping make dinner. Here’s hoping your mentees turn out to be at least teens regardless of actual age.

FCM Hooray for windshield. Sorry about MIL and your shattered nerves.

Cookie that is a cool story about the spoons. Even more cool that Dawter seemingly wants them.

Damn Coppertone.

Good gosh there Taters, how much harder can they make your life? But welcome home to blessed relief.

Doggio: maybe you and Taters could co-author a book titled *How Come Nobody at my Place of Employment, from Top to Bottom, Can Do a Single Damned Thing Right?"

Jane: I gotta say the idea of somebody volunteering to cut down flammable brush on land not their own using tools that can start a fire doesn’t sound like the work of a rocket surgeon. Can you spell “Liability”? I bet the county attorney can. Thank goodness nothing of yours is at risk. Shame about the impact on old friends.

Red: welcome home and sounds like a good set of reunions were had.

Back to me …

BB called while I was typing somewhere above to say she’s done for the night around 8:30. Apparently she’s tired for some reason. Me too. Quittin’ time here.

Best of luck to one and all. Cheers!!

Evening all. Once laundry was done and dishes were washed, and snacks were consumed (only problem about having fairly low-cal snacks in the house is, well, not snacking on them constantly…), made it to the gym for some serious (1,000 calories burned) pedaling. Then decided to have Sunday dinner on Saturday, so drove over to swampy’s old standby, the Golden Corral and had pot roast, rice w/gravy, soup, salad, cookies and pecan pie with a coke for around $20. So pretty stuffed and the wallet is still in good shape. People in the booth next to me had a 3-week old baby, just the cutest thing in the world, along with a 2-3 year old I played ‘oops, I see you’ games with. Came on back home and am prepared to sloth the remainder of the night away, still 86F at 7:30pm. Mowage is planned for tomorrow, will try to get to it early given the heat.

Next month it’ll be the Xmas stuff that starts to appear… And am glad to hear the windshield replacement is complete.

Oopsie, hope the proposal help actually does help, as it appears to be doing.

boo fae, enjoy the company and the gig.

JtC, glad you got out before the fires got bad this summer. Wonder if the new owners are having buyers remorse yet.

Coppertone, aw nuts; but I know what it feels like. When I was trying to get a teaching job in the 1970’s, I sent out dozens of resumes/applications and had 10-11 interviews and got nothing. Hope you luck turns around.

Taters, do they pay you mileage for trips like that? They really should, besides your per diem. That was a lot of time and effort for what seemed from your description, minimal results. At least you got to see some pretty country.

doggio, rather amazing anything gets to where it’s supposed to. They built a big Female Warrior Clan place down the road a bit from me, wonder if it’s like that there.

lily, enjoy the company.

OK, need to check the news on you-know-what and see if there are any updates (I do not intend to bring that discussion to the MMP). Then time to be thinking about bed. Catch y’all on Sunday.

I’ve found it’s best to get to know a pet to figure out their name, but that’s me. If naming the new family member in advance works for you, I’m sure George and Bella won’t care.

Good idea, thank you. We used to have battery operated yard cameras, so I know that such a thing is possible. I will see if I can find something before more holes are drilled into the walls.

I’m glad your reunion went well. What did you do about bringing a dish? Hubs’ annual family reunion is in August and it will be a few hours away so I don’t want to bring a hot dish but they all do their own special salads and the only thing left for me is desert. Which will be tricky as well.

Maybe I’ll make some date and walnut bars and pick up a mess of vanilla ice cream cups when we get close, what do you think?

After a couple of weeks of triple degree weather and worrying about the lot next door catching on fire…cognition sometimes fails.

TC friend is livid. She has cats and lives only a few houses away from the fire so the smoke was a serious issue. She wanted to get her cats and self out because they were worried about the propane tanks going off, but one of the fire trucks was parked in front of her driveway and nobody would move the truck so she could leave. Plus running fire trucks are so loud nobody could hear her on the phone. Two other neighbors were also blocked in, so I expect many phone calls will be made on Monday.

We used to do that and they didn’t listen to those names either.

We are as well. The I17 was closed three times last week and the air quality reports haven’t been good.

While I might still hates the people who bought our home, I do hope they enjoy it.

It was a very nice place for the location and we took care of it. I didn’t want to live with a Xeriscaped yard but did try to plant with water and the lack thereof in mind.

I did see that the Corporation Commission approved the 300% increase in the water bill starting in October so the buyer’s remorse will probably set in then.

Looking forward to church tomorrow.
I am eating the chocolate cake before bed right now.
I really need a job; God will come through somehow.
