Old Atlantic Richfield Gasoline Newsman?

Atlantic Richfield was a pretty small gasoline chain, as I remember. What I also remember was that they sponsored a late night news/weather show, with a guy who was also a cartoonist-he’s read you the news and weather, and usually draw some kind of funny cartoon characters. As far as I know, they only did late night news.
the chain disappeared long ago (I believe it was bought out by Chevron).
But anyway, anybody remember this guy?

Not sure about the old timey newsman, but the Atlantic Richfield gas chain (aka ARCO) is still huge on the west coast.

I can’t name the newsman, but Atlantic-Richfield is still in business. They operate about 1100 ARCO stations in the southwest U.S.

ETA D’oh! Simul-post.

Late night news and weather tends to be a local broadcast. What city are you remembering?

It was the Boston, MA area. What I remember was that the guy gave a national weather report, and he wasn’t any recognizable celebrity. But he always drew cartoons featuring penguins.

Do you have a timeframe?

I always assumed that ARCO simply sponsored the weather report, and that a local person actually put on the uniform to do the weather. I seem to recall the person as a recognizable local news person at least in my TV reception area. But. . . it’s been a long time, and memory can play tricks on you.
