old drivers that cant see over the dash

Well, you can’t exactly rant against YOURSELF without seeming like a self-loathing bastard. Seems to me you became what you hated most.

You may be right. At one point I ranted about adults but now that I am one, I rant about kids. So yes, I did become an adult if that is what you mean. And I have learned that the more things change, the more they stay the same. And I should have learned that it is usually pretty bootless to argue with youth as youth will very seldom admit to not knowing everything. So, no more arguing from me.

LouisB: That came off wrong. It wasn’t meant as a direct slam. I shall now add this to the end:

Over caution, which is commmon with senior drivers, can in certain instances, be as harmful as recklessness, especially in such instances as 4-way stops. It seems as though every time I approach one, somebody insists on waiting for everyone else to go, even if that person clearly has the right-of-way. That, I think, is dangerous, and it’s not just old people who do it, either.

So you want to take away the license of every elderly person? You think every older person cannot drive??
How many of these slow driving old people where flying over Berlin or risking their lives and leaving their families behind so that freedom and democracy would be around for the new ignorant, lazy, cocky ass youngsters. These old people have been through things you cannot imagine. They have been through times that you could never make it through. Because of them, we are not driving small ass cars with swashtikas on them.
It may suprise you that I am not over 65. Actually I am only 20 and I drive over 100 miles and hour on a daily basis. I drive really fast and I weave around cars to pass them. I have NEVER been in an accident because I pay careful attention and I do not run red lights or anything too stupid. I am young and I still have my reflexes so I drive fast.
Whenever I come up behind some old person going ten miles under the limit or stopping too long at a stop sign or something, I just go around them. It is no big deal to me. I do not see why you have such a problem with them. does that extra space they leave at a light really make that big of a difference to you? I just use it as a space to pass in. There is room for everyone. Just pay extra attention while you drive and you can avoid that one old person who may not see you coming. But do not honk and scream and give them the finger just because you do not think they should be driving.
Revoking their license would be like taking away their freedom to drive themselves where they want, when they want- to not rely on others for transportation.

And remember that it is YOU who owe THEM your freedom. So do not be so quick to take theirs away.

Remind me never to drive within five states of you.

Robin

Take a look here and tell me what it says. I have nothing against seniors driving as long as they are able to. It’s when they or anyone else continues to drive when they have no freaking business getting behind the wheel.

And for the “Speed King”
I would never boast about driving 100 miles an hour all the time, I have driven much faster than this in my lifetime but can look back in retrospect and realize what kind of dipshit I was. I used to drive to work at 240kmh (145mph) and any driver failure on my part would have brought an end to this life which I am presently enjoying. I always obeyed the limit in the city but the highway was a different matter. Slow the hell down, idiots like you have killed their fair share of children by going around stopped vehicles… didja ever think there might be a reason why they weren’t moving?

Last November some stupid motherfucking asshole pulled this same shit by going around a truck at an intersection. This candidate for retroactive abortion was doing at least 60mph (twice the speed limit) in a residential zone and crashed into a car driven by a woman who was 7 months pregnant. The woman only suffered a broken ankle and thankfully for this piece of shit there was no injury to the unborn child. The woman was my wife and I can quite thankfully look at my soundly sleeping daughter as I type this. It was all I could do at the time not to go to this guys house and beat him to a bloody pulp.

The local cops stuck their heads up their collective asses and didn’t even charge the other driver because there were no witnesses, I went and measured 100 feet of skid marks and informed the police of this. These dickheads did nothing and charged my wife with making an unsafe left turn.

I’m done now…

Feynn,
Sorry about that happening to you.

The point I was trying to make was not how cool I am for driving fast. The OP was complaining that old people drive to slowly for him. He made it clear that people who drive like that have no business on the road. All I was saying was that I probably drive faster than him on a daily basis and I do not have a problem with slow old drivers- why should he.
Also, I hope there are no children playing in the interstate… that is where I drive on a regular basis. If there happens to be some kids trying to cross three lanes in lowlight (like a half dozen did a few days ago) I will see them, and hopefully they will see me. I do not know what they were doing out on the highway but I slowed down considerably when i saw them.
As far as passing a STOPPED vehicle in a residential street, well this falls under “anything too stupid” that I mentioned in my first post. Passing a stopped vehicle is extremely reckless especially if one cannot see what is beyond that vehicle.
So please do not compare me to some idiot, reckless asshole who was probably driving fast for the joy of it. Just because I drive faster than normal people does not mean I am out road raging and running over people.
BTW, I do not go speeding through neighborhoods trying to hit children and I have never gone over 15 in a school zone.

I was trying to say, that people that cant drive shouldnt.
Regardless of age. It just so happens that most bad drivers happen to be 60+ around where I live. same thing goes for 16 year old girls with their daddys cellphone.
I am 20, Yeah upon occasion I have driven in excess of the speed limit, but I realised I will live longer and kill less people if I go the limit. It was fun to drive fast, and yeah I miss going 125 on the freeway, but hey, I want to live.

It isnt the speed of the driver, its the skill.
