(Old) Firin' up the grill in the MMP

Thank you! I’m pretty happy with it. I’ve never done anything like it and there was pink dye everywhere but I like it!

Afternoon, folks! Did a bunch of stuff today. I went to Target and got a big Kirby plushie, and I also cleaned and reorganised my room! I feel a lot better in here now. Tonight I’m just gonna throw in some pizza rolls for dinner. Looking forward to it.

Howdy Y’all! I highly recommend tossin’ back a couple of dirty martinis out beside the cee-mint pond. I even took a plunge. BRRR! After a couple of minutes, however, the water feels good.

Floaty you look f-aaaaaa-bu-lous!

VanGo have fun with the 'rents!

First, let me say Happy birthday, Bumba!!!

Now on with my replies!

I would have been livid. Unless someone tells you “Do what you think is best” (which I do occasionally), stylists really need to get buy in from the client before the first cut.

Though, I have to share what I had to do to BtY when his hair got too knotted at the back.

He wouldn’t let me cut the front or sides. I got a lot of questions from his teachers about it.

Hubby’s the same. I couldn’t tell you the last time he went to church. I grew up Catholic but realized I was more agnostic when I hit my 20s. I was just Catholic enough to get married at the altar (which Hubby wanted), and I agreed that we would have the kids baptized and go through first communion, but I put my foot down when it came to Confirmation. My feeling was that if my kids kids decided they wanted to continue in the Catholic faith, then they would decide whether they wanted to be an adult in the eyes of the church. CtE went to a few Confirmation classes but really wasn’t into it. So both my kids are like me - Baptized and Confirmed and that is IT.

I’m listening to Sarah Millican right now as I’m typing. I will blame any further typos on me laughing hysterically.

I love that! I don’t know what (if anything) Nashville has done since I try to avoid going downtown. There’s been so much controversy thanks to our legislature that a lot of people that are only casual allies aren’t stepping forward. Me, I’m bi, poly and cis-gender and CtE is Aromantic Gender Fluid. So I always appreciate anyone that steps forward to say that we are people too.

She really was. I wish she was still with us.

VanGo, I used to try to do that when the kids were younger. But then I’d forget where I put them and six months after Christmas, I’d find something I’d put away. Yeah, I’m not overly organized for all that I want to be.

doggio, Hubby has been listening to this guy’s MTG songs a lot lately and all of them are hysterical parodies, especially if you know MTG.

Yay!

I hated that when we were in the townhome. Sometimes, when I didn’t feel like dragging the thing along the stairs, I busted out the dust buster and used it. Right now, I have far less carpet than in the old place, which is probably good since my rollsuck died on me. I’m waiting for my best friend to come up since she has an extra one. Otherwise, I’ll have to start looking for a new one.

I find the same thing. Whenever I’m sick enough for it to knock me out, it takes awhile to get myself back to where doing more than a few things exhaust me. So I’ll just give you the advice that others have given me: don’t push yourself too hard and listen to your body. {{{pilot}}}

Good for you! And it looks great!! I dyed mine kind of an aqua color. I like it, but it’s fading quickly. I’m trying to decide what color and brand I’m going to go with next. I still end up with color everywhere when I do mine, though I try to get it cleaned up as soon as possible so I’m not staining the apartment.

GodBod, sounds like a good day. BtY has a giant Kirby plush that he was using as a pillow. At the moment, it’s sitting in my room waiting for me to fix a hole in it.

It’s been a bit of a busy day for me. Managed to get nice and clean before heading to get my new mask. I like it a lot and I think it will do much better than the current one I have. The new one has memory foam so I shouldn’t have to worry about my allergies. When I got home, Hubby and I went to do our big shopping. I finally bought a plant for the porch while I was there. If I can manage to not kill this one (since I completely suck at keeping anything alive), I’ll pick up a few more. I want my porch to actually look like it gets used.

I made a stop at Smoothie King after getting my mask. Fridays, rewards members get a 32 oz for the price of a 20 oz. And since smoothies are one of the things that won’t cause my stomach to act up, I was looking forward to it. I had a mango ginger smoothie and I think it’s my new favorite. I found a recipe online for a copycat version and picked up the ingredients needed to make it myself.

I’m not sure what I’ve got planned for the rest of the day. Probably get plenty of reading done for my summer reading. I finished Chef’s Kiss yesterday, and I’m not sure what I’m going to read next. I’ve got about 40 books on my shelves from the library. I just don’t have any idea what I’m in the mood for. I may just grab the first thing off the shelf that catches my attention.

Hope you all have a great night/morning/afternoon! And a great weekend!

I’m with pilot. Why not? We’d love to see it if you decide on it.

Weren’t there supposed to be pictures of this?

I’m trying to psych myself up for the gym. I love the gym, but the stuff the doc gave me for the knee pain, Diclofenac, is a strong NSAID, and it feels like a small dog is chewing my stomach, which is retaliating by strangling it. Now you see the violence inherent in my system!

Vacuums and stair treads…ugh. In the secret passageway house I loved so much, there was one glaring bit of nasty: the stairs to the second floor had that thin, Velcro-like indoor/outdoor carpet. It was red. I felt like I was in a Motel Six. Everything stuck to it and then clung to the fibers. I was tempted to put duct tape on my feet sticky-side-out and just walk up and down the stairs. Quick, someone invent a Rumba with tank treads.

doggio, I dreamed I opened my door to go for a walk, and a dog with a smooth brown coat was waiting there. She dashed in, and I thought, “Looks like I have a dog now.” Then I realized it was Darci! I reached for my phone to call you but woke up, probably because my brain realized I don’t have your number. It was sweet for a few minutes, though.

Pilot, thank you for the cheery way of looking at my hair disaster. I’ll keep telling myself how much cooler my neck feels. I hope you start feeling better.

Floaty, I LOVE the hair! Baker, go for it! Use a temporary dye if you’re feeling unsure.

True Fish, I think your son’s haircut was edgy and innovative. And I’m glad you like Sara M. She and Michael McIntyre are my favorite comedians.

Happy Birthday to our sweet Bumba! :tada: :birthday: :gift: :champagne:
In your honor, I’ll do the Rumba! :dancer:

Nice!

Color me a tad jealous.

There was, on FaceBook.

Ah. I dont think I have the right people on Facebook…

Maybe not yet, but that can be fixed.

gimp, you rock pink hair. You just reminded me that I haven’t put some Kool-ade pink streaks in my hair yet this year.

swampy, I like to see a bunch of kids spending time outside playing, so, unless I have my hands full, it’s no problem to throw them back. Most of the kids are pretty well behaved and if they’re out when I throw them back, they always thank me. They even like to pet Nelson through the fence.

baker, I was a natural redhead most of my life, but began going grey in my late twenties. I covered the grey for years until the white really took over. At that point, I went blonde. It doesn’t take much, just some lightening spray every day and it blends in with the white. :stuck_out_tongue:

Apartment is clean, groceries are bought and a pot of chicken and rice is cooling to go into the fridge for Nelson’s meals next week (I swear, all I would have to do for that to be palatable for me is season it some more). I set a bowl of his regular kibble down on the mat and he’s eaten a few pieces of it. I’ll leave it there so’s he can ease back into his usual diet.

SIL amd I are going to my old town to the farmer’s market and lunch tomorrow. If we feel like it, we may head up to a town that she and BigBro used to live outside of for the Folk Medicine Festival. I hadn’t been to it for a few years and it’s always interesting.

Your picture wasn’t accessible to the lowly likes of me. But it sounds like he’s now got a reverse mullet: business in back, party in front. Which probably suits his attitude pretty well.

Color me? Color me??!? Very clever punnery there young lady.

What, they don’t sell pink hair dye in Nebraska? You can do this. We can watch.

Red, the trip w SIL sounds like lots of fun. I’m not sure it’s safe to be near Red Boiling Springs though. Makes me think of lava spouts bursting up through the crafty tents. Pro-tip: If you see lava, run!

As to me:
Her Ladyship made fancy burgers for dinner with all the trimmings. Tres yummy. When I get healthy I’ma gonna owe her. Meanwhile the sun is just about down as the sky has largely cleared up. Should be a pretty night. I’m thinking cheese and WW crackers accompanied by a gin gimlet will be the second course of the evening’s dining.

Out in the Gulf of Mexico the first named storm of the season, Tropical Storm Arlene, got fired up this morning and will probably die overnight tonight out in the middle of the Gulf far from land. Be a bit of a rainy weekend in southwest Florida and western Cuba and that’s about it. Should have no effect over here. But the annual hurricane rat race is on.

Now that I’m neither a homeowner nor in charge of caring for a chronically ill person I find the prospect of a hurricane just doesn’t phase me much anymore. Famous last words.

Irked, walked three miles, showered, fed the cats, and made dinner.

Dinner was Trader Joe’s marinara sauce with Trader Joe’s meatballs. The meatballs had been in the freezer a while, so they had that freezer taste. Mrs. L.A. had thin spaghetti, and I tried Trader Joe’s Hearts of Palm ‘pasta’. It didn’t taste anything like pasta, and it was crunchy; but it was good. I made a hot dog bun with marge, garlic powder, grated parmesan reggiano, and Italian seasoning, toasted in the oven for mi esposa, and I made a couple of slices of Sara Lee Delightful whole wheat bread the same way for myself.

Graduation is over. Kidlets are gone. The quiet is just sooooooooo…

I’m ready to crash.

Wanna know what’s a little scary? I didn’t do that knowingly, but let’s pretend I did. I could use the ego boost.

I already have enough trouble being taken seriously.

However, I have pure white hair, which would much an excellent palette should my precious grandkidlets ever want to dabble with kool-aid paste on my hair. So I am not going to say ‘never’.

Happy Friday!

Happy Birthday Bumba

Ugh
I finally caught up on the reading and now onto the replies
even though tis past my bedtime

My son and I are going to have to have a Looooong talk.
I can’t take it anymore. He got off irk 1am Wed, 4am Thurs, and 1am this morning.
The lack of sleep is getting to me and he just doesn’t get it.
Everything hurts worse, and I feel unsteady when walking.
I forgot to tell the doctor when I saw her that the PT said I needed to be tested for vertigo.

Puppies are doing well. They can go up the stairs by themselves, and my son showed them how to use the ramp to get on the bed. They are so proud of themselves when they make it. Rayleigh is more agile and it’s easier for him. I don’t like for them to jump off the bed yet though. I think it’s a little high for them. Rayleigh is doing well coming down the stairs, Misiu is a little hesitant, but he has more wrinkles to fall forward and cover his eyes.
House breaking has been achieved!
My son was so upset, but I told him to give them a few more days and it will be good.
He still carries them downstairs though; we don’t trust them to be able to get down and out fast enough for their little bladders yet.

Echo is getting better. She plays with them more and one night I saw one of the pups snuggled up against her.

Misiu is pronounced MeeShu.

Congrats on the graduation GodBod

Good luck on the interview Niner

I wish I had a grill, and knew how to grill. People around here are grilling outside and it smells good.
I wonder if they would be offended if I showed up with some hot dogs and hamburgers and asked them to throw them on their grill? Maybe if I bring a case of beer with me?

The little asshole two doors down had his fire pit going again. The flames were 3-4 feet high. I think he may be burning cardboard or something in it, there is a lot of smoke and it smells awful.
I saw him out front one day, he was walking out into the street. When a car was coming, he stood in the middle of the street staring at it. The driver had to stop and he said to the driver, I think you were trying to hit me. This was early in the morning and he was already drunk or high. Or maybe still drunk or high?
He’s doing a lot of irk on the house, hammering, and drilling, and sawing going on all day.
The house next door was sold, and there are people over there all day irking on stuff too.

I’m glad you are feeling better Pilot. I too have noticed that I no longer spring back from illness and injury like I used to.

Poor Nelson, I’m glad he is feeling better.
When I was home cooking for Ripple, I was tempted to try it a few times. Sometimes it smelled pretty good, other times not so much. Overcooked broccoli stinks.

I should be cleaning up around here. My old neighbors are coming by tomorrow to see the puppies and will bring their pug with them. We’ll probably stay outside, but who knows. It was in the 90s today and way too hot to sit outside.

Okay, it’s almost 10. I should have been in bed by 9.
I will catch up with the rest of the stuff tomorrow.
I hope.

Evening all. Decided to eschew any homemade fixin’s and decided on a caloric blowout at 5 Guys (I could easily become addicted to their french fries, but I limit myself to 1 trip a month). Since then been internettin’ and reading on and off and will head off to bed soon with refereeing at 10am. Had a couple of drops of rain but nothng much, will have to deploy the new sprinklers here in a day or so if this keeps up.

Sari, the boy has to learn sometime that his actions have consequences for others and that he needs to accept the responsibility. Hope it all works out. And drunk/noisy neighbor sounds like he may be doing more damage to his house than improving it, given his behavior. Take care.

Real Fish, was going to tell you about the PM I sent you regarding the beard, but you’ve already read it, so nevermind… Couldn’t get the Boy’s pic either.

Pilot, I will root for a calm hurricane season for you and other Florida Mumpers, but I suspect it may be a bad one.

Enjoy the day out with SIL, red.

Floaty, nice hair.

OK, need to finish up things and start getting ready for bedtime. All y’all take care.

Having had some vino (plus a Tennessee whiskey), I’ve made SPAM® salad. The meat grinder is drying in the oven.

Happy Bumba day!!!

As a retired person, I sure do like weather more than I did when I had to go out in it. Now I can sit around in my PJs, drinking coffee and watching the kids across the street try to get their cars out to the road so they can go to work while thinking “sucks to be them”. Tis wonderful.

Thanks! I’m still a “widow” but I expected that. Crabby Old Cat was not happy when his slave wasn’t in bed at a reasonable time and kept yelling at me about it.

The pattern mistakes are really annoying. The designer is much better than this and when one pays a couple of hundred dollars for a pattern, expecting it to be right shouldn’t be unreasonable.

As long as I can keep ahead of Mom, I’m semi OK with it. She’s having problems keeping track of things, so its best if I can do all of the tearing things out first.

Mr. Johnston? Is that you? (Klingon wasn’t around when I was in high school, but that is totally something my fav teacher would have done a few years after we parted company.)

You need to just give up and plan to give your new overlord his banana tribute before he has to start screeching. Jeeze, homans can be so hard to train!

That sucks. I hope you are better soonist.

Mom was super active at 80, her date book was so full that even her oldest daughter had to book time months in advance. Then Covid happened. The isolation and lack of face to face interaction took so much away from her :frowning:

Go you! It looks super cute and sets off your eyes.

Not only do we have a housekeeper, we do not have carpets. We went carpet free more than 20 years ago and have never looked back. We have cheap rugs that we can throw over a railing and spray off with the hose or put in the washer, so have no need for a rollsuck at all.

We do have a shop vac in the shop and a mini-shop vac in the laundry room. That is another thing I bought that hubs thought we didn’t need and didn’t have room for. Yeah, he uses it more than me, LOL.

You are still standing, no reason you can’t rectify the situation in no time at all.

Our cats have a red pagoda fountain in their catio. We had to put it out there because we couldn’t stop our idiot cat from playing in the water, but it’s lovely to listen to while I’m relaxing on the porch.

I’m always happier when I’m in orderly surroundings, it helps focus me. Have you thought about getting new curtains lately? Changing out the curtains on a room really can change the whole appearance and freshen things up.

Are you able to eat dairy? Like can you eat some nice greek yogurt with berries? The cultures could help coat your tummy and berries (strawberries, cherries, blueberries and such) often help with inflammation.

Ask Sari for a few of her recipes, they sounded really good!

Dad used to like potted meat, so when he came to visit, I would stock up with spam and canned samich meats that he liked. Once he came to visit and I had to work so he made his own lunch. I came home and asked what he had eaten for lunch so I would know what to not make for dinner. He said he had used the open can of turkey to make a samich which confused me because I hadn’t bought anything like that and I knew there wasn’t an open can in the fridge. I checked the trash can and found an empty can of Wellness turkey cat fud. Knowing that the ingredients were human grade turkey, water and taurine, I asked him what he thought about it. “Needed salt”

I never told anyone until Dad’s celebration of life when I brought the house down telling about the time I fed my elderly father catfood.

I agree that something needs to happen. He is a grown up, he needs to be responsible for getting himself home after work. There are many options if he doesn’t want to drive, he can pay a co-worker to bring him home, he can pay for Uber or something like that or he can just wear a reflective vest and walk.

Come on over!

Grilling isn’t hard, can you buy a hibachi for practice? They are small and easy to give away if you don’t like it.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. it’s my Firday!

Never too late.

Looks good!

Well, I plan on being immortal till I die.

That y’all are. and a lot more fun at parties than the Rabidly Outraged Mouth Foamers.

Awwww. At least I know dream Darci is safe.

The Panthers have the rats, the Hurricanes have the Ice Hog.

I’m glad you’re typing this, and not Pilot.

Tell me about it. So far his favorite cheese is Gouda, so I may just buy him a block of cheese, so I can have my morning coffee unmolested.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 86 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I shall go assist with mowage over to the church house this mornin’. Also I shall make a chawklit cake with chawklit pee-kahn icin’ and a veggie casserole to take tomorrow mornin’ for first Sunday brunch. Not to worry, I will manage some time for sloth and general overall uselessness. One must have priorities.

RealFish I couldn’t see the pic of BtY either. If he’s happy with his coif, then that’s a good thing.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should at minimum shave so as to be somewhat presentable. Grass does not seem to care about attire.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!
