It’s been a relaxing day so far. The Sunday chores are complete, the old office chair (and the new shipping box) have been taken to the dumpster and some work has been worked on in the studio.
Heading back to irk tomorrow, so tonight will be an early one.
I stayed there. In the beginning, I had chosen another path. I have kept it light and general here because that is the nature of this thread. I don’t read or post in the Pit here, but the entirety of my interaction with the clergy would need to be told there.
Thanks. I knew the word in that context. I did grow up in the drug heavy 60s & 70s in SoCal.
I just enjoyed the turn of phrase Jane used to describe her trip and the idea of hitting the Mexican joint to get a jones. If you’re not sure what to drink at a Mexican place I suggest a michelada is always a good choice. And since it includes beer, we can all toast Sister Mary Corona whenever we have our micheladas.
Mrs. L.A. bought dry mozzarella and soft, wet mozzarella from a local cheesemaker. I got the MG out again and went to the supermarket for some Roma tomatoes and fresh basil. We’ll have Caprese salads for dinner. Goo says she wants her dinner meow!. But it’s only three o’clock. She has to wait an hour.
I stopped for some very expensive gas on the way to the supermarket. (The MG takes premium, and all of the local stations are expensive anyway.) As expected, it vapour-locked. I really wish it wouldn’t do that. Fortunately, after lifting the bonnet, it only took a few minutes for it to cool off.
I cleaned. I dusted, I vacuumed I did 3 loads of laundry. I took out trash and recycling.
Me: < attempts to nap >
Spot: “OHHAI! I WILL STAND ON YOUR THORAX, AND RUB MY FUZZY SCROTUM ON YOUR NOSE!”
Once I got him settled down, we both napped in the same orientation.
I pressed the thumbs up on the video. That must have been scary.
Had a big meal today at German Fest. Those sage sausages, noodles with meatballs, German cabbage salad were so good. I saved the krautstrudel for this evening. My sister always gets the sauerbraten and I got a bit of hers, giving her a chunk of sausage. Oh my I wish there was a restaurant with this stuff around here. One good thing is that plenty of younger folks at the church that sponsors it are involved, it’s not just the older folks. And they all are assisted by helpers from another Catholic church not far away, Our Lady of Guadalupe. That church has it’s big festival in July, and the folks from Sacred Heart go to help them.
Not a problem at all. If I could, I probably WOULD tar and feather one of us - either myself or BtY for making me do it!
I never had until I moved to Florida to live with my dad and step-mom. I’ve always thought it kind of weird, and I never did it once I was on my own.
If I were to ever get my hands on the TARDIS (or the Doctor), I have better things to do than fix my kid’s hair!
I don’t mind at all! If things were looking bad, I was going to ask for some since I know we have so many plant people here. I took care of the watering yesterday, but honestly, I’m too short. So I’m asking Hubby to take care of it for me. I did tell him to check more than just the surface of the soil. And I’ll be keeping an eye on the leaves while I’m outside reading. So I can come back in here with pictures and say, “AHHHHHHHHH HELP ME!!!”
{{{Nellie}}} I’m so sorry that you’re in so much pain. I hope you get feeling better well before Saturday, because all of us should be as well as possible.
It was the same issue where he wasn’t brushing his hair and it got so matted that we had no choice but to cut it. He carried that bit of hair around in a plastic bag for at least a year. My kid gets attached to some really strange things.
I’m familiar with Maisie from Mock the Week. I hadn’t really thought about it but yet… BtY’s haircut is very reminiscent of Maisie’s.
You are very considerate man.
I used to remember most of my dreams. As I’ve gotten older, I’m able to hold on to a only the most fragile wisps of my dreams. It’s frustrating because I regularly wake up KNOWING that I had a good dream and I can’t remember it to write it down.
That sounds like a lot of fun! Nashville regularly has various food fests. Pre-COVID, we used to go to the Greek Orthodox festival every September. I should look to see what, if any, will be coming up this summer.
Went? We’ve been wordy from the get go!
{{{Cheffie}}} I can only imagine.
Taters, just reading about your day yesterday has me exhausted! I’m ready for a nap now!
{{{WetOne}}} Ice cream to lower the fever sounds like the best plan possible. Get feeling better.
FCM, you definitely do deserve some recliner time! I hope you were able to enjoy it.
This sounds sooooo good. I love Caprese salad, but I’m the only one in the house who likes tomatoes.
Today’s been… a bit up and down. I did manage to get out for walking and PokemonGoing, but I only walked half a mile. Part of it is that I need new sneakers if I’m going to keep walking regularly. Today, my feet were hurting before I made .3 miles. Hubby and CtE were with me and they walked a mile. But it really got me thinking about needing to buy new shoes. The problem is that I don’t know what constitutes good walking shoes. I’m going to try going to the New Balance store and hope they can help me out without it costing me a couple hundred dollars.
I did see the cutest thing while at the park though. I was sitting on one of the swings Pokeing and people watching. One woman was walking her dog on their harness when two other women walked toward them. The pup immediately laid down and rolled over to show their belly. They would NOT get up until they were petted. When they finally did stand back up, they were only there for a minute before someone else came around and down for pets they went again. This had to have happened at least 3 times. I felt bad for the poor owner!
After the walking, we came home and I went on the Book of Faces to see what people were up to. And I saw a post by MFN with him and his new girlfriend out having fun together. It hit me hard - not out of jealousy, but because I want to comment on how much fun and how happy they look, talk to him about what they saw there, and I’m not sure if commenting would be kosher. Then I started getting more than a bit annoyed because it shouldn’t be that hard to talk to me and tell me what is going on. (Though the last time I did talk to him, he did say that we were ok but he still needed space. Gah!)
It put me in enough of a funk that I couldn’t focus on reading or much of anything else. I did finish my book but it took a lot longer than it should have. I recognized that I needed to do something to get my mind on other things. Tried replying here, tried doing some writing, tried watching the last episode of She-Hulk… nothing. Until I went to Hubby and told him I needed something to get my mind off of things and suggested a board game. The first game didn’t really help, but it was a brainless game. The second one, however, was Eldritch Horror. Somehow defeating ancient evil always puts me in a better mood.
Now I’m just trying to finish up with some of the other things I want to do tonight. Tomorrow is going to be a long, fairly busy day, with taking Dad to the doctor’s, getting new keys made for my van and Hubby going to MTG in the evening. Plus there’s trying to make the kids do their cleaning. Hopefully, I’ll make some time in there for self-care as well.
Anybody here from Lansing Michigan? I worked in Michigan for three years and a Greek church there had a wonderful luncheon, and the pastries, oh god the pastries. We used to have a Doper named Sparteye from up there but she has passed. I remember replying to a statement she made, and I used blue and yellow font, and she told me she didn’t know I had a death wish.
Hey y’all!
Thanks so much for the Birthday wishes. I hope you know how much I value you all.
The reason I haven’t been around is because I’ve been in the hospital.
On monday I spent the afternoon in the basement clearing off one of the storage shelves so we could disassemble it and haul it down to the new house and put it in the garage.
Around 5 o’clock, I went upstairs so I could get the grill started to cook dinner.
After dinner we knocked off for the day.
The next morning I had two messages from my cardiologist’s office.
I think I’ve told you that my pacemaker records everything and messages my doctor’s office if anything goes wrong.
Well, it had messaged them that I had been in and out of V-Tac almost 50 times between about 5 to about 6. They wanted me to go immediately to OHSU to see the team that dealt with me back in February. They decided that the Sotalol wasn’t working any more. (I was warned about that, but it was worth a try.)
That was Tuesday.
They put me on another drug that is stronger but they don’t want you on it long term 'cause it very hard on your kidneys, and, I think, your liver. (I forget.)
They kept me until Friday morning to watch and see if I could tolerate the new drug.
They said I could go home Friday morning, so I finally got out of there at 3pm.
Anyway, I’m scheduled for an ablation next September.
Wifey drove me home, getting us back here around 6, but I was fried from lack of sleep, so pretty much was a zombie until bedtime.
Saturday I finished disassembly and we packed the shelving and as many boxes as we could into the back of the pickup and headed to Madras.
We spent the day cleaning and putting the shelving back together and putting things on the shelves, then stopped about 8:30, stopped at Subway for sandwiches, and drove home, getting home late.
I was about 200 posts you guys, so just got caught up. I know there were many things I would like to reply to, but that will have to wait.
There was a lot more story I could tell, but this has gone on too long already.
On the other hand, I lost 8 pounds on the hospital’s ‘heart healthy’ diet.
Evening all. Spent some time with other youth soccer coaches and played a little ‘oldsters vs kids’ soccer, then went to the Professional soccer game downtown. The Stadium used to be for minor league baseball but when they moved out it was rebuilt into a soccer stadium, and quite a nice one, too. However, you need a pre-paid parking pass or you need to scan their QR code and pay on-line, no cash accepted. Parking charge was $12!! Same with food and drink inside, credit or debit only. Apparently I have encountered the cashless society…and am not immediately fond of it (old guy prefers cash money). Walked from parking to be told I couldn’t take my umbrella into the park, so had to hike back and drop it off. Did enjoy the match, although the home team blew a 3-1 lead to lose 3-4, missing several close chances to tie late in the game. So home a little grumpy.
Real Fish, loved the story about the doggy and belly rubs.
For everybody else, yeahs, cheers boos, hisses, and always, always hugs as needed. All y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
Currently, GG is being a whiney boi. I did laundry today, which I fold on our bed, and VBC wanted to come in and lay on my warm laundry. I left her my socks and panties cause who cares if they are wrinkled and she is happily napping. In the monster’s room. Without GG. His life is ruined, just ruined.
My BFF had been complaining that the wind was blowing all the seed out of her birdfeeder and her hubs was doubtful so they moved one of their game cams and got very nice video of a male Javelina reaching up and grabbing the feeder to hold it sideways so the seed fell to the ground for mom and baby to eat.
Something got into my birdseed bucket last night, but I think it was a raccoon. There were crushed hazelnuts and almonds all over the patio floor, along with greasy paw prints on the flagstones. I made sure the lid was tight tonight. I have problems getting the lids off when they are sealed properly, I doubt a raccoon has the finger strength to do it.
That shows support!
Has anyone called the Patriot Guard? They were formed in response to fred God Hates F**s phelps, may his soul burn forever. We went on many a mission back in the day, but all we ever did was stand around and try to look intimidating because haters tend to be cowards.
I am SO sorry you were hurting so much, hopefully that horrible drug is out of your system now.
Thank you again, I was thinking about Capt’n Crunch a couple of weeks ago.
Dad loved Spam until he died. I ate fried Spam with him until he died. I haven’t eaten it since.
I wondered about that when I saw the pic cause I couldn’t reach our hanging basket either. I went to the hardware store and bought a small pulley to attach to the hanger so I can lower the basket when I want to fuss with my fuchsia.
You do indeed rock!
I’ll bet it would have been just fine, heat kills germs! I think Dad would have laughed, but that was half my life ago and I was really embarrassed that something like that happened in my home. I’m a much different person now, LOL!
Bows.
I’ll bet you would have looked quite dashing!
Good job on getting the planter put together, I would be pretty irritated if ours had gone missing too.
Have you looked at egg grills? The small ones have a pretty small footprint and they are pretty attractive for a BBQ.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Cheese Time was fun. Nothing like watching Spot use 40 million years of Predator Brain to pick up a piece of Havarti that superglued itself to the Linoleum.
