(Old) Fun Facts in the MMP!

How old is the mattress on your bed? Would a firmer one help?

That sounds like a fun day, Mooooooom.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The only thing that is written in concrete today is the reschedule of the tax appointment at 1400. I may hit up the grocery outlet after, as the meat supply in the freezer is getting low.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Hopefully, next time, Lil’ Man! (Can you call ahead to check? Some zoos list all their current residents on their website, too.)

I remember those. Horrid.

Ah, simpler times! That gave me a nostalgic, bittersweet smile.

Same.

The vet should have told you this, but just in case: don’t use human toothpaste. They make a doggie toothpaste that’s designed to stay on their teeth - there are enzymes that continue working after the brushing.
Use a baby toothbrush.

Thanks for the good wishes, all. I got some decent sleep despite a few minor middle-of-the-night blurfs (an encore performance!) but, like FCM I feel almost human again.

Nibbling a bit of dry Cheerios now, washed down with some sort of Pedialyte/Gatorade “RAPID REHYDRATION!” thing, cuz they didn’t have the VitaminWater I like & didn’t wanna make another stop.

Back to the :pizza: tonight.

It’s a gloomy Saturday. Currently caffeinating. Gearing up to accomplish things.

When one of us is sick, we tend to sleep separately, so we set up the modular sectional in the family room as a bed for me. It is really cozy. I spent probably two nights more than I needed to down here, but it’s time to reset the room and return to the master bedroom. Also probably change our current bedding for the season. It is way too warm for the winter comforter.

After that it’s off to our younger nephew’s roller skating party. Whether I roller skate is an open question.

Then perhaps date night, since we actually have a night off at the same time. This is the problem with musicians marrying.

If you haven’t already, you should see a therapist that specializes in Parkinson’s protocols. There are specific exercises that help with it.

70s yesterday and expecting snow today. Sheesh.

Breakfast was everything bagel with mashed-up avocado with lemon olive oil and salt, topped with bacon. Side of scramble.

Wife’s niece is coming by later and the building activities person has therapy dogs coming in this afternoon.

She’ll probably call before they go next time.

Skimmed over this and read it as Cheetos - I was going to scold you, but never mind!

GMTA! I just pulled the electric blanket out of the washer - it’s draped over our basement futon to dry - and the comforter just went in the washer. Not sure if it’ll dry properly in the dryer, but I’ll give it a shot.

I got a very weird FB Messenger from FCD’s aunt (MIL’s last living sibling.) It was a picture of some woman I didn’t recognize, and when I looked her up, she had a new FB profile saying she lived in NY. I responded saying “I don’t understand this” and got a link to an article about 11 signs that your dog is dying. So I emailed AuntB and told her to change her FB password, then I reported the “woman” who I think hacked her FB account. Just weird.

First load of laundry folded and stowed, second is in the dryer, except for the aforementioned electric blanket. Comforter is in the washer, and 2 more loads after that. I need to go to CVS and pick up my cholesterol meds refill. And I need to figure out what we’ll do for supper tonight - something healthier than last night’s McSupper.

Today will be warmer than yesterday – it’s already 67°F and will hit 85 – but it’s much cloudier, and will stay overcast until Monday afternoon’s thunderstorms. I don’t mind the clouds, and it’s nice to have another “windows open” day.

I finished the Batwing! :bat:

I’m really happy with how it looks; so are my BFFs. It’s currently in a big Amazon box – on a layer of packing paper, with several layers of bubble wrap on top of it – waiting to be transported to their house at some point. The box is under my kitchen table; it’s too big to store anywhere else. Having it there will bug my OCD a little, but it’ll be out of the way until I figure out when to bring it over there. WifeBFF gets released from rehab on Wednesday, so there will be a few other priorities at their place for a while.

About a week ago I decided it was time to get a better organization system for my extra Lego pieces than just having them loosely sorted in a dozen or so Ziploc bags, so now I have three of these: one in white, one in red, and one in black. They each hold a different main type of brick (my brain’s definition of “main type”). None of them is full, but I was able to sort everything a little further and now it’s all easy to see/get to. I have a couple of large baseplates that don’t fit in the big drawers, but I’ll keep them with my other Lego-related stuff (unused stickers, extra brick separators, a microduster, the pumpkin set I’ll only put together/display each October, etc.).

After I finished the Batwing (while watching the Wicked movie) and relocated my extra Lego to their new plastic condos, I wound up binge-watching all 10 episodes of the new Hulu comedy Mid-Century Modern. I recommend it! There are a few obvious jokes and clunky moments, but enough genuinely funny/touching content. It was moving to see Linda Lavin in her final role (she died during filming), I always enjoy Nathan Lane, and it was kind of fun to see Matt Bomer – of White Collar and Magic Mike – playing pretty-but-brainless.

At some point this afternoon I’ll start putting together the Ghostbusters firehouse…and, of course, I’ll watch Ghostbusters while I’m doing that.

Ha! :joy:

Today, though, I’m feeling more like the Stay-Puft marshmallow man…

Oooo, those sound good!

Hopefully you’ve heard from/seen her by now…?

Oh no! :worried: Glad you’re feeling a little better today.

I thought I was the one who did it, by emptying/cleaning/storing all of the humidifiers a week or so ago!

You can get extra thick extra large exercise / yoga mats for $20-30 from Temu - Search - Exercise Mat. Big enough to serve as a bed, and just spongy enough to keep you off the floor. And no pesky inflatability to leak.

I have one of the thick ones and have slept on it out on my balcony with just a beach towel as a bottom sheet. No pesky elbows or shoulder blades poking into the hard floor. Can recommend.

Being the fifth Saturday of the month one of our fabric stores has a 20% discount if you show up wearing one of their purple tee shirts with the logo. We spent $350.00

Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na-Na…Batman!

At the hotel. Weather is damp and chilly. Typical for this time of year, but tomorrow will be nicer.

There’s a frosted portal window between the bathroom and the bedroom. No idea who thought it would be a good idea. I’ll have to use my phone for navigating to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

And they have earplugs on the bathroom counter. Often not a good sign, but it seems pretty quiet as long as there’s no traffic. And the road is closed at night.

Did they mention the jackhammering remodeling going on all week starting at 7am?

Nah, don’t respond. It tells 'em they got a live one.

I get that crap all. the. time, and my response is how I generally handle many of life’s more minor annoyances: ignore 'till it goes away.

I’ve had a crush on him since White Collar, which my Other Shoe and I would watch together. It became apparent very quickly that we liked the show for, uh, slightly different reasons.

I have a fond memory of Other Shoe pointing out that Bomer is not catchin’ what I’m pitchin’ to which I responded “I don’t care!”

Don’t they, though?

I have a buncha trash bags staged by the side door, so that’ll be Step One of getting my shit together poop in a group, and then heading back to work.

Honestly, I am surrounded by shit I gotta do. Clutter to sort, clean laundry to put away, ratties to move onto clean bedding (and pull a couple for Pretzel, she hasn’t eaten in a shamefully long time, I’m afraid) plus I acquired filters but still haven’t gone down to the furnace … and I just get so friggin’ overwhelmed by it all, and then too depressed to do ANY of it.

ETA: lots of the clutter is due to that damn bookshelf that fell off. Need to fix that, too.

And I have a replacement magnetic screen door to replace the one Monkey shredded, and that really needs to be hung up soon as it’s about to be Bug Season.

I know, I know, pick just one task a day, eat the elephant one bite at a time, etc. But I get overwhelmed and anxious just attempting that, so then I get even more pissed at myself.

How dysfunctional is that? :frowning:

If my landlady saw the place, she’d shit bricks & possibly initiate an eviction .. not to mention how my mother would react, which is probably to have me involuntarily committed.

None of which makes me feel better!

So I was clerking the 100 and 200 today, so a good long day. TIL that Blazy Susans are a thing. But laundry is in the dryer, the medicinal gin&tonic is in me, time for a nap.

I’m pretty sure they avoid putting any goat with the nickname “The Impaler” is an area with small children.

Well, you do have the wrong wedding tackle for that.

Yeah. now he merely screams for an unspecified thing, and occasionally mauls my arm.

We took the cats to the vet. Abbey got her vaccinations. Goo had hers last month. You may recall that Goo’d thyroid level was at the high end of normal, and that she’d lost a lot of weight over the last year. She had blood drawn for a T4 test. Last month she weighed between 9.2 and 9.4 pounds. (I’m not sure why the vet tech gave us three numbers.) We doubled her ration of gooshy food (and I mix in some kibble to slow her down, to give Abbey a chance to eat), and she’s up to 10.7 pounds. Both cats are happy and healthy, and very vocal about having to leave the house.

On the way home, Mrs. L.A. asked if I wanted to go for Japanese food before we went to the movie. I’m like, ‘Uh… What?’ She said I said a couple of days ago that I would take us to see Snow White. I did mention that Snow White was being trashed in the right-wing media, but I never said we’re going to see it. So we’re going to the Japanese place for a late lunch, and then going to the 15:35 showing of Snow White.

Oopsie, before I clicked on your link, I half-expected to see a storage bin made from Legos, to keep Legos in.

Temp is up to 84°! Windows are open. Laundry is done. FCD is home. I picked up my meds. Chillage is underway.

This was the day in SE Mitten when I left at 10am to go to BF’s house. When I left to come home at 1:30, it was no longer sunny as it had started to gently rain; although it was still warmish. 64 degrees. I’ll take it, the grass will enjoy it.

A former ambassador to Denmark was on Rachel last night and damn, if he isn’t one handsome fine eye candy. But he plays for the other team. Not like I’d do more than look because as the saying goes “just because you’re on a diet doesn’t mean you can’t look at the menu!”

I’m glad you’re feeling well enough to go back to work today!

So we were back to planting this morning. I planted early girl tomato seeds and a heck of a lot of flower seeds: 2 varieties of marigolds, milkweed, lavender, zinnias, nasturtium. That was all the tube planters that I had. Brought home about 2 dozen more toilet paper tubes so I’ll make planters while I’m watching tv that I more or less listen to and peek at occasionally. Then we’ll hopefully complete the planting on Tuesday. I want to plant some sweet william, shasta daisies, bachelor buttons, more nasturtium and a lot more marigolds. Some will go to daughter, some to the flower beds, some between the veggies, and some to the cemetary. Hence I need a lot of flowers, particularly marigolds.

Need to take the yesterday’s laundry down from the line and fold up, put another load in the washer, get on washing the dishes. This evening will be 2 games of the Elite Eight: Florida vs Tx Tech and Duke vs Alabama.

Big Ten Sweet Sixteen report: As I mentioned yesterday, 4 Big Ten teams made it into the Sweet Sixteen. Maryland lost Thursday night, both Michigan and Purdue lost last night. Once again the Michigan State Spartans held up the honor of the Big Ten by beating Ole Miss 73-70. Yay!

Got my new glasses. Well, they’re my old frames with new lenses. The right eye with cataract got worse so now I can read better.
They’re a nice emerald color, was getting tired of boring black ones. Also a little larger. I like the way Kat Timpf looks in hers.
My back still bothers me, its been 7 weeks.
Picked up my medicated shampoo, hope it will help with the breakage.

In a funny coincidence, today there was a farmers market / street fair / car show / generic [whatever] festival a couple blocks from here. Which had a teeny petting zoo with, you guessed it, a bunch of goat moms and goat kids. And lots of human moms and human kids too.

I didn’t witness any impaling (damn) but there was a lot of trying to eat buttons off coats or nuzzle into purses in search of yummy [whatevers]. And squeeing. Lots of squeeing.

Yep.

She’d made those party arrangements a couple - three weeks ago before our thing had really picked up speed. No hard feelings on my part.

I’ve apparently been shown off to them all by description and pictures, so one day semi-soon comes the delicate dance where I meet the group and they meet me, and she hopes none of them decide they want to try to steal me, and she hopes I don’t want any of them more than her. Right now she’s in a pretty insecure headspace, so I bet it’ll be awhile before that intro happens.

Good news is that since I posted this morning, we have confirmed the stayover tonight. Gonna start kinda late but that’s OK. I can stay up late.

Excellent decision there, Number One.

We had a grayish day after a promising early morning then about 2pm it started raining off and on. Mostly off, but everything is damp and will probably stay that way. Should be mostly the same overnight and all of Sunday. Sigh. Here at 5:30ish it’s 76/25 on the way down to 71/22 for the overnight low.

Dinner next for me, then the long wait until her event ends and ours begins.

And a good afternoon to all. Left home about 7:15am and got back about 3pm, the rest of the time was either coaching, refereeing, or get from one to the other. Day was pretty good, both my teams lost but in close games and the kids had fun. The refereeing went well, exercise is good for keeping up with 11-12 year olds. Was a cool (60’sF and cloudy day with spots of rain, but I persevered and got through it. Came home and binged on things that are not good for me (cookies and cheese bread) but hey, I was hungry. Nothing much else planned, a bit tired right now. Rain is due to start tomorrow morning and carry on for most of the day, so glad I got my outdoors stuff done today.

Oh, and checked the water meter when I left and when I looked at it 7 hours later…it hadn’t budged a bit!! Success!!!

Now to wade through the 30 or so message everyone posted…

VanGo, hope the back starts behaving better.

boo fae, my US Government job used to have ‘early outs’ at times to incentivize folks to retire early and avoid cutting staff. Sounds a lot like what your friend is contemplating. And no concerts this weekend? Where’s swampy’s fainting couch when I need it…

FCM. saw the zoo pictures, glad they had fun, hope Tobester gets his giraffe fix next time. I still like visiting zoos when I can. Haven’t been to the Baltimore one, have to keep that in mind.

Sticky Buns, oh I agree, my Big Bowl O’Salad is a dinner, not a snack (now the baby carrots are a snack).

Dicey, enjoy the night with your friends.

Knots, my bad in explaining; they had to pull up the carpet to do the plumbing (I live in a slab home), so just need it put back, stretched and attached; nothing new.

Pavo, I haven’t been on roller skates for 50 years and am not about to try it now. Good luck if you go for it.

Oopsie, that Batwing really looks good!

Hippie, nice deal and imagine that you two lookr great in purple.

Shoe, make a list of things to do and post it somewhere that you’ll see it all the time, the jobs will get done. If not, remember “Lesson 1: Don’t sweat the small stuff Lesson 2: It’s all small stuff”

Flyboy, good news on your feline overlord’s health. And was the movie any good?

Catglove, happy planting season!

Coppertone, yay for the new lenses.

Pilot, have a good night and a better morning.

And that’s all I got. Have multiple You Tubes to watch. May have to find some more snackage now. Take care all.

Shoe, I was just thinking about this today. There’s so many things to be done at my house and they never seem to get done and for the same reasons that you mentioned. Yes, it’s true, all we can do is take it one breath at a time.

Today I did clean most of the refrigerator except for the damn bottom shelf which wouldn’t pull out. It was quite the fun adventure. Since then Music Man has gotten home and we had to run a few errands including dropping off 5 garbage bags of my too big clothes to the thrift store.

Weird thing of the day is that my vein in my arm (the one where you’d usually have blood drawn) is enlarged/swollen on my right arm. I am keeping an eye on it to decide if anything needs to be done. This is definitely not something that I’ve ever had happen before.
