Official geezer supper tonight - we ate at 4:30! It was yum - steamed shrimp, broccoli, and fries. Dishwasher is now washing and we’re holding our recliners down.
I did go out for a bit and cut back some more vineage. Stooping stuff is budding, which will make it harder to subdue. Dammit. And t-boomers are promised tomorrow so I doubt I’ll get any outdoor time. Then Tuesday, it’s mammosquish day!
GF has returned to her regularly scheduled program of logistical hassle. Sigh.
The rain & lightning had been slamming, but now the sun shines brightly.
I’m out for happy hour & live music. The early act (5-8pm) is a keyboardist, a drummer, and a ~70yo teeny Italian lady w butt-length black hair who can blow jazz trumpet like you’ve never heard. You go girl!!! The other two musicians are young enough to be her kids and grandkids, but are probably unrelated.
My martini and my meatballs app are going down smoothly. The next course beckons.
OH my gosh, yes! He probably knew before the rollover happened!
Apparently, someone hit a curve too fast and ran into a parked car and took down a fence and the cow got out in all of the excitement. The cow is fine, the car driver was just fine, his passenger wasn’t wearing a seat belt so wasn’t nearly as fine as she could have been.
So lets hear about the cardboard bonfire, that sounds every entertaining as well!
In other news, I thought the needlepoint auction was over at 1700 my time so did the entire tenterhooks thing while watching my bids. Yeah, no. It’s closing in 6 minutes so I get to stress and worry even more!
One of the things I was only willing to bid 30 bucks for is now up to 131. I’m not going to fight for that one, but if nothing changes I’ll have kits for the rest of the year! At about half the cost of buying the patterns and materials elsewhere, plus it is for a good cause.
Down to two minutes, the hyperventilation is starting!
I WON I WON I WON!!! I can’t wait for all the pretty new fibers and patterns. Hurray for a good thing in the middle of all the bad things going on, I’m so happy.
Whelp, was going to go in and do some work, but the car said low coolant, get checked. Popped the hood and saw an open reservoir cap. So I gots some water and filled that. D’oh, that was the washer fluid. The coolant was next door. For some dumb reason Ford decided to put the fill cap way up under the cowl, instead of on the other side of the container. Filled that, ran the car for 20 min and all seems well. I still don’t trust this car.
taters You are doing the good work. I just hope this doesn’t hurt you.
I will and now I haz a sad. I have the feeling that this is the last year that I will be able to afford to work with silks. I’ve already lost my favorite rennet and cheese making stuff supplier over tariffs, I’m sure silk threads aren’t far behind.
Even brand new, straight off the lot cars can have problems, I don’t blame you for not trusting your current one.
Our past fuzzbutts are why I only drink out of covered containers anymore. I learned long ago that coffee and linen fabric do not work as well as one would hope.
I did a test run today. I have an automatic so the only problem I have is that the key is on the right and I have to bend almost in half to get my left hand in position to reach. The big protest will be in Morgantown cause that’s where the university is but I’ll be going to to smaller one at the capital. It is closer and my body isn’t happy about being in the car for longer than an hour now. I will get better.
It amuses and saddens me that accessibility has been addressed in the postings and invites. I can remember when it was young people who stood up and protested (and got shot) while the old farts complained about the younger generation.
I only had that happen once (back in San Bernardino CA) and it took about a week before I could really sleep without waking up to listen. I hope you gt over it faster than I did.
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and then brunched durin’ coffee hour. Seriously, there were mini quiches, fresh fruit, pimento cheese and crackers, and some really good shortbread cookies. No need to stop at the Pubic sto’ after that. Been rainy and sometimes stormy all afternoon but that has stopped for now. I did manage to haul our and our neighbor’s biiiiiig trash cans all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow between rains. Neighbor is out of town so I did my good deed of the decade.
Did some erranding, have some meatloaf baking. Costco’s price for 2 dozen eggs was about what most stores in this area want for 1 dozen. They are limiting quantities, citing supply challenges, but I could have bought 3 packages if I’d wanted to. I didn’t, but got one package, since two dozen will more than suffice for my household’s egg needs for the time those will still be good. Still, I don’t recommend Costco on a weekend afternoon. Too peopley, too little collective brainpower for things like not walking/driving right into someone else’s path.
Wind and rain due in, so comfort food seemed called for. DH, who’s working in the private sector, is working tomorrow, while I have the day off for Cesar Chavez Day, since I work in a government office at present. Hopefully, I’ll get on some of the defilthing around here I’d intended to do more of over the weekend, but just couldn’t muster motivation. I’ve also gotta process more ground beef I found on special (when $4/lb for 80/20 is a good price, grocery costs are getting a bit out of hand) and stocked up on. Beside meatloaves, some is destined to become taco meat, some will become sausage/burger patties, and I’m not quite sure what else to do with it. I have plain browned ground beef crumbles already in the freezer for Hamburger Helper-style meals and such (the plain can also become taco meat if needed).
I had a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, poke loin, baked N.O.T., and roasted squash with onion and tomatoes for dinner. Laundry is folded and put away. So another day winds down.
So one day when I had my first day off in 3 weeks, I was out with Maggie Wonderbeagle when a Waste Industries truck turns into the neighborhood. I notice the trash area is smoking. Then the driver opens up the rear hatch, and the truck vomits out a full load of burning cardboard onto the road. It was hot hot. So hot it was hurting my face when I was at the fence 50 yards away. But the FD showed up, stood around for a bit, separated the stuff, and finally put it out. And eventually someone scraped up a ton(literally) of burnt cardboard, with just some buckled pavement to show what happened.
To be fair, there are a lot of young people who need accessibility, too.
And a good evening all. Did make it to the gym for several hours of workout time, then home for sammiches and Pepsi. Talked to brother and SIL, they are worried about me going to England for a cruise in June for safety reasons(??) but otherwise everyone is doing well. Rain on and off all day and T-boomers are due in the early morning time slot, so soccer will probably be cancelled again on Monday. Otherwise a quiet evening and will head off to bed here in a little while.
JtC, doesn’t seem like it’s been a year since you left Arizona either from my viewpoint. Glad things are going well for you (at least going better than things are for the driver and rider in that car…).
And YAY!! for the big auction wins!
doggio, quite a story, at least we didn’t start the fire…
And that’s all for this edition, take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
Tonight I made the fajitas from the new carniceria I found. I’d also bought a jar of Herdez guacamole salsa. Pretty damned good fajitas for $4.99 per pound. And we have leftovers.
