I should be out by 11:00, event starts at 11:30, 15-20 drive downtown. and yep, 100 Slide.
Well, I’m cold and it’s 90 degrees.

Good evening all. Laundry has been washed and sorted, exercise has been exercised, and dinner has been consumed. Also got a walk in (close to a mile) around the park to watch the soccer teams practicing, so it’s been a fairly active day for me.
34 messages to peruse, so let’s be about it.
Pilot, sounds like the date went well, with further contact indicated. Hope the excision went with precision so you didn’t regret your decision…
I will, my major concern when I was going 11-12 times a day was diabetes (family history) but nothing showed up from their testing last month. And today I’ve only had to go 4 times and with much less volume…no idea why, haven’t changed my diet or fluid intake, bodies be weird…
Sticky Buns, glad the work day wasn’t to onerous. And yeah, falling off your roof once is bad, doing it several times like neighbor did I’m most impressed he’s still alive.
Cat Glove, good wishes for the marching. Nothing close to me, but I’ll be rooting for you. And hope all the medications and Dr. visits all work out. And yay! for daughters (hopefully) car.
FCM, so glad I don’t have trees or plants, I’d be hopeless in dealing with them. Haven’t been to Cracker Barrel in a couple of years, may have to stop in and give them a try again. And good that you got all that cardio in. Sweet dreams.
nellie, I would pay good money to hear a Wagnerian opera with Harry Belafonte tunes…
wet one, glad it went well for your feline overlord.
flyboy, good on ya to stick with it and keep the customer satisfied. And good on that roofer for standing behind his work.
Either your system goofed or that is a wonderful way to express it. And sad about your lost son.
Coppertone, hope the dermatologist can solve the hair mystery. Good luck at the job fair.
red, hope the job application goes well.
And that’s all the energy I got left. Have a good night all and see you on Hump Day.
nellie - back then, I was 5’5". However, I done shrunk to just a smidge under 5’4" and shrinking. Roxy is excited for the day when she’ll be taller than I am. Probably next week.
We started a new series on BritBox. Not sure if I like it, but I’ll give it another episode or two.
Now, tho, it’s after 10 and I am beat. So zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…
It seems like a rash? I have 2 pink splotches on my abdomen. Go figure.
Church guy cancelled his ablation last week because at first it was denied ( coding error) then extra bloodwork.
Then the power went out.
I told him I felt uneasy the night before, I have discernment.
So its on for tomorrow. He knows I’m praying.
I’ve had some Trader Joe’s chicken meatballs in the freezer for a while. Since The Spousal Unit didn’t want leftover pork chops for dinner (she had sourdough bread, Laughing Cow cheese, California Olive Ranch olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping the bread in, and Summer sausage instead), I heated up the meatballs. There are 16 in the package. One serving is four meatballs (2 g carbohydrates per serving). I had eight of 'em on Sara Lee Delightful Multi-Grain bread with some marinara sauce. I forgot to add a slice of provolone cheese, but I had one after.
Almost nine of the clock. I should probably brush my teeth and go to bed.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
My fun fact:
This year Luzern, Switzerland is celebrating 150 years of potable public water supply.
And in 2024, Basel Zoo celebrated their 150th anniversary.
So Basel had a zoo before Luzern had public water.
Has my monthly appointment with the personal trainer this morning and the targeted muscles are already talking to me.
@Misnomer Cool addition to your Lego collection. I never had a console of my own, but the people I babysat for did. So after the children were asleep I was allowed to use it.

Lately I’ve been making meatballs in sloppy joe sauce and it’s been delicious! Just another idea…
Currently my wrist is being licked as I type. Shocking, but true! Today I’m going over to the clubhouse to hang out for one of their sessions. Also, I’m donating a couple things and they are going over with me. This is the place I keep thinking about applying to. I actually was about this close to having a job, but I couldn’t afford it with the job that MusicMan had at the time. Also there is no insurance in part because most of the people who work there are already on disability and they don’t need it.
I don’t know if they still would need someone or not as they haven’t hired anyone new. And I still don’t know if I want to get a job there just for the sake of ‘yay, go me, I did it’ or because I really want to do it. Because some days I feel it’s just the one reason and other days I feel it’s both. One concern is that they have stairs that I’d probably have to navigate daily. One positive is that I’m literally about 3 minutes away from my house in case my mom needs something.
I just don’t know. Part of me thinks I should drop off my official credentials (remember that week long class I took awhile ago?) and see what happens. Maybe I’ll decide by the time I get ready to go over today.
TLDR: Not sure if I should put my ego on the line.
What say you, mumpers?? Honest thoughts welcome.
Ok, happy Monday!
ETA: I just saw the picture of Monkey and shoe in the last MMP and it’s awesome!
Also, I’ve officially lost 50 pounds which is 1/3 of the way to my knee surgery goal. While I’m glad about this, I’m still a little bit mad at myself for getting into a spot where I have to lose so much. It’s 90% trying to focus on the positive and 10% frustrated. Could be worse. I think I’ve shared my whole life in this one post now. You’re welcome!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 78 and N.O.S. We shall procure provisions this mornin’ and attend the Wednesday night doin’s over to the church house where we shall sup. RDOS inactivities will comprise the afternoon.
Sticky_Buns I say go for it since this seems like a thing you’re interested in.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Oh woe!
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
Morning all - Sunrise is imminent and the thin crescent moon was glorious when it rose 90+ minutes ago. Just a bit of sea haze on the horizon, NWS sez now 67/19 on the way to 82/28 under clear skies. Sounds like an ideal beach day to me; shame I can’t get my wound dressing wet, so don’t really want to get sandy. Oh well, there’ll be more nice days ahead.
Speaking of wounds, it’s been about 10 hours since my last acetaminophen, and no discomfort. So yaay! As usual, I expect the worst part of this ordeal will be peeling all the tape off my rather hairy arms tomorrow. Ouch!
GF called last night. She had had her first phone call w hubby since he learned she had filed for divorce and she wanted to talk to me about that. It had been a few days since he must have known and the silence had been deafening to her. Naturally she had been catastrophizing about his eventual reaction. Not that he’d be physically violent, but that he’d be vindictively emotionally violent. Not to mention greedy about her being entitled to so much as a penny of “his” money.
Anyhow, she tells me that in a nutshell he said “Sigh. You’re right, we should have ended this a long time ago. Thank you for stepping up and pulling the trigger. I’m just emotionally uninterested in anyone, including you. You deserve much more than that. So there’ll be no fighting, you’ll get your half of the money, let’s move on as friends, and be good parents to our adult kids.”
She was happy, nay giddy, with relief. That news doesn’t hurt my feelings a bit either. I predict tonight’s / tomorrow’s meetup will contain a heaping helping of extra affection.
Breakfast soon, followed by intense RDOSing seems to be the order of the day. Then intense something-ing once she comes over around dinner time.
Another night of having a ridiculous time falling asleep, awakened by the phone - the HVAC tech was enroute. So immediate panic, shower and dress, and now I’m sitting and waiting. I’m glad to get the first appointment, but they could have told me yesterday when they confirmed…
It cracks me up that they send an email and a text with info about the tech. “His name is Rodney, he was born and raised in Local Town, and he spends his free time hiking and fishing. Etc” Ending with his photo! I’m dying to get one saying “He loves long walks on the beach…”
Once he’s done and gone, I need to make a run to Food Lion for a few things. And after the yard dries out a bit, I’m going to try to hack back some more wisteria. I’ll probably do other stuff, too.
Happy Wednesday!!
Props to Sly and the Family Stone.
Just don’t have Alexa playing boom-chicka-wow-wow music when you answer the door in your nightie. You might get more service than you had bargained for.
Metal_Mouse, wirrt sounds like part of a song called “The Marvelous Toy.” It was done by Peter, Paul, and Mary. Something like “It went wirrt when it ran, and bop when it stopped…”
FCM, I took flying lessons when I was a teenager, but I had to stop when the medical certification exam asked the question, “Do you ever get lightheaded?” The doc told me I couldn’t fly. So, no more lessons, but it turned out to be lucky. I took that refusal with me to my draft board physical, and the doc there proclaimed I had Shy-Drager Syndrome, and I couldn’t be a soldier, either. So, no Vietnam for me! I later found out I didn’t have S-DS, long after that war was over.
There’s a HandsOff! rally in Goshen, but I don’t think I’ll be there. My asthma won’t handle teargas. Maybe I can send 'em a check.
I actually greeted him in sweats and a t-shirt in the garage.
He’s a least halfway done, then off to Food Lion I go!
Good morning! Bladder was busy in the early morning hours so up fairly early. Another lovely day in N. Ali-bama, 73F for the high and no rain in sight. Nothing much on the agenda today, will come up with something to do, I’m sure. Tomorrow I have the plumbers in and soccer practice, so should be a busy day then. Probably will try and relocate some of my furniture and stuff so the plumbers can access the area for the purported leak.
Priorities, priorities..
Sticky Buns, never hurts to ask.And Yay! on the weight loss. Know what you mean, I finally decided in 2022 to start losing weight, took me until now to drop from 290 to 200 lbs. Your doing much better than I.
Pilot, glad new GF doesn’t have that to worry about come date night.
FCM, made an appointment yesterday (they called) for the HVAC checkup, it’s set for April 17th, so plenty of time to prepare (or forget).
Cookie, thanks for the info.
OK, the morning apple has been consumed (Cosmic Crisp, not my favorite but wanted to give them another try–I’ll pass) and I’ll finish the morning internettin’ here in a bit before first meal. Have a good day all.
It’s Wednesday already?
I’m mostly human again. Actually got out to a rehearsal last night. Sat out in the house (rehearsal is on stage) masked and didn’t sing, but I wasn’t wallowing in bed, so that’s something. Wednesday is usually light anyway so I get to rest most of the day before another rehearsal tonight. We’ll see.
Wife isn’t as sick as me, but it’s taking the day off anyway. She’s also stressed about work.
Still covered in cats. This is fairly normal, but a little over the top the last few days.
HVAC check went well - no problems and systems are ready for the summer. So now off to Food Lion with me. And the credit union to deposit my whopping $67 check! Onward!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 14c/57f with no predicted change, and partly cloudy. Weather app says “This is the perfect weather to not fucking eat Tide Pods. Seriously, just stop with the dumb fucking internet challenges.” That sounds like a great idea!
I finally achieved minor tea intake today!
I don’t understand the rest of the world not being fascinated with the stuff! To be fair, I was a Marmite baby and had it on toast from a very early age. I think part of the fascination is that it’s such a polarising product, you very rarely find someone who can take it or leave it. Most people really do either love it or hate it.
Awww…such a good and brave girl! I kind of miss taking Shadow to the vet for his spa treatment and arthritis shot, the vet and the nurses always made a big fuss of him.
I am sorry for your melancholy - he must have had a lot to deal with and sought refuge where he could. It’s a shame he wasn’t able to get through it, and you had to say goodbye too soon.
It’s the Australian and vastly inferior attempt at Marmite
Of course we don’t microwave water for tea, that’s what the kettle’s for! Jacket spuds are easy - poke with a fork so the skin doesn’t explode, shove it in the oven for an hour and a half at the most, split it open, shove some butter in, then whatever filling you want. Cheese and baked beans is my favourite.
You can use Marmite/Vegemite/yeast extract to add some oomph to gravy, soups and stews. I use it for Marmite roast potatoes, and also Marmite mushrooms.
Sticky Buns I’d say give it a go, you’re obviously interested in the job and if they say yes, you can still say no.
I am glad she was able to speak to him and he was nowhere near as bad as she expected.
Yesterday evening was busy, this morning has been similarly busy. I got pulled into a different dept meeting with a rushed request to take minutes…because the Head of Dept who organised it forgot to invite anyone from the support team to do it!
I should be at the pub with friends tonight but I have decided that I ought to have another quiet night at home because I am still not 100% recovered from my bout of gastric insecurity. I managed solid food today and have had a whole cup of tea so that’s an improvement.
One of my minions has made a fairly massive blunder so I’ve got that to sort out today, and the academic I need to speak to about it will be in the office in 3 minutes so I’d better get ready to talk to him!
Back from erranding. I decided to have McLunch, so I ordered their version of the chik-fil-a sammich. Imagine my delight in finding one - count’ em one - pickle slice on it. Because I guess, more than one slice will affect the manager’s bonus… or something. Whatevs - it’s still a pretty good sammich. And I got some used meat at Food Lion that will be sous-vided for supper - it’s marinating in the fridge at the moment.
Before the HVAC guy left, he told me FCD’s shop was really warm, so I went out and found the thermostats set to 75°!!! He’s hardly been out there in the last week or so, meaning we’ve spent stoopit $$$ heating an unoccupied, marginally insulated 1300 sq ft space!! No wonder I got the notice from the electric company that my bill would be high. Dammit. It’s all been reset now. Dammit.
It’s supposed to hit mid-50s this afternoon, so I’ll go out in a bit and have a go at the wisteria that eats small animals for fun. OK, I may exaggerate a tad, but it is an overgrown mess that needs taming. I’m giving myself an hour of chill before venturing forth.
