Old gasoline

How do you dispose of two year old gas for the lawnmower?

Put it in your car’s gas tank, 1 gallon at a time, at each fill-up.

I thought of that, but I don’t know how well the fuel injector can deal with varnish.

At that dilution, it won’t matter. If you are worried about it, put in a bottle of Techron when you are done during up the old gas.

Thanks.

I have a 2018 Acadia and old lawnmower/snowmobile gas works just fine. I seldom have much more than 4 or 5 litres left by the end of the season anyway. The car handles it fine.

On that point, my old camaro has been running on 2006 gas. Works fine. Mind you as you can see it doesn’t get driven a lot.

If you don’t want to use it in your car, I find it useful to use in the chainsaw or weed eater once mixed with oil. Or I just save it for starting fires.

I’m pretty sure Qadgop isn’t confessing to arson, but just in case he’s giving you any ideas: Don’t do arson.

Old gasoline goes into my vehicle’s tank. Old diesel gets poured into the bonfire in October.

Hey, I’ve got over 60 acres of woods, fields, swamp to maintain. Brush to clear, fallen timber to dispose of, etc. Fire helps a lot. Plus, it’s so beautiful!

My ‘65 Ford runs on mostly varnish and rust. Some dirt. Pour it in the old car. Or use it to start your woodstove fire. When it gets old, it doesn’t "PooF’ so much.

Not confessing, just encouraging others to expand their horizons by taking up arson. Nothing wrong with that. Fire is pretty!

Diesel is pretty good (safe) for starting fires, but gasoline is pretty scary. Pour diesel on a log, and it’ll burn like a nice gentle candle once you get part of it lit. Pour gasoline on a log and drop a match on it, and you’ll burn the hair off of your legs when the heavy vapor cloud near the ground lights off.

As others suggest, feed it into your car a gallon at a time on a mostly full tank. If you’re uncomfortable with this, check with your city for a household hazardous waste disposal service. My city has such a service, where they accept gasoline and other home toxics free of charge because they really don’t want these things ending up in the landfill or sewer system. This is also a good way to get rid of ionization smoke detectors (which contain small amounts of radioactive material).
