Old habits dying hard (...)

I dunno, I like it, gives me hope for the future.

Nuthin’ wrong with that. I bought the Loonie Tunes Golden Collections as they came out and was disappointed when they ceased after Volume 6, about a third of WB’s total output. True, they were getting into (at best) the mid-level tending towards dross, but I’m a completionist, dammit!

One thing I noticed is that the disks were mastered from archive masters or really good prints and with the magic of Hi-Def, it’s really apparent they were made in a hurry. Every little ink or paint error shows as to dancing dust motes. I consider it part of the experience.

Likewise, I had the eight-box set of Betty Boop on VHS but have not set about upgrading it, yet. Disney shorts I’m not so keen on but I did buy a wartime collection just so I could (finally) see “Der Fuehrer’s Face.”

I like really really old cartoons, like early Disney with Mickey the Mouse and dancing skeletons. And those beautiful old color cartoons, I think by Warner Brothers, made in the 30’s and 40’s. Not featuring famous characters, but with nature themes and fairies and trees. I had a whole bunch I taped on videotape over the years, of course lost now.
