(Old) Happy Hanuholichristkwanzaavus- A Holiday(s) Week MMP

Howdy Y’all! We did all the errands and since we were out I decided to go to the church house to handle candle duty. Once provisions were stowed in da cave, we went and had lunch which included a big margarita for OYKW and a smaller one for me since I was DD. Nappage was needed after that. A couple more episodes of Victoria were watched as well.

MOOOOOOM glad FCD is gettin’ the nose bleeds tended to. I saw the pic of RoxStar with her tote bag on the book of faces. Tres chic!

MetalMouse glad you feel better today. Continue to rest up before the big trip.

Piper aside from two Christmas Eve services, the service of Christmas lessons and carols this comin’ Sunday, the Epiphany party, and the Bishop’s visit January fourth, I will be my usual RDOS self. I won’t be runnin’ about givin’ gifts of fowl, golden rings and strange people doin’ strange stuff.

Nellie perhaps Episcopal cats with problems have hooman servants who cannot make a proper cocktail and are prone to eatin’ their sallit with the fish fork.

Nuts that is quite the assortment of religions there!

Rocker I have never attended an Orthodox Mass, but would like to have the experience. Maybe one day.

Evening all. Spent the balance of the afternoon slothing, did do my packing (except for the hearing aid, phone and watch chargers that I’ll use tonight and pack tomorrow.) Think I’ve got everything I need, the presents most of all of course. Have delivered my gifts to the neighbors (we’ve been neighbors for over 20 years and they have always been the best kind, friendly and helpful but never pushy or demanding). DId go to the gym for a little bit, just to sit in the whirlpool and sauna, no exercising and it seems to have helped some. Now if I can get a good night’s sleep tomorrow should be an easy trip.

FCM, can’t believe how much she has grown. Wonder how she would feel about a group of folks she’s never met having watched her grow up all these years…

Flyboy, can understand 22 December not being your favorite day.

VanGo, safe travels for you and Ms. Peach; sounds like your weather will be more problematic than mine.

red, hope you get sprung tomorrow as planned.

And take care all, I’ll be back in touch sometime tomorrow, we’ll just have to see how travel goes.

I got drenched. It wasn’t raining hard when I left, but I took an umbrella anyway. Went to little Max’s house and left a loaf of bread (It was BOGO, so free.) and his Christmas present. Then I walked to Ms. Dog’s house and dropped off her gift, which she insisted on opening immediately. I was grateful for the chance to sit down because I felt like I’d been stabbed in the back. Ms. Dog, as it happens,is actually on the Naughty list because yesterday she murdered a mop head. She was angry because her person wouldn’t give her cheese until Ms. Dog ate her dinner. Then she assumed the Very Very Sorry face and crept over to her person, who acted sadder than she was to teach Ms. D. a lesson. It got a little too Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf for me, so I left to walk to the grocery store. I took the bus home because I just couldn’t handle the pain. (I’ve gotten wimpier.)

Anyway, it rained harder, and when I got home, I had to change my clothes because I was soaked to the skin. I am now sipping a medicinal and warming brandy.

red, hooray for getting sprung! Is your sister going to stay with you for awhile then? That CNA must have been beyond horrible.

MetalMouse, safe travels, and i hope you stay comfy under that pile o’ dog. Bloodhounds are big!

swampy, I loved your explanation and sent it to my daughter.

I napped. Apart from the leg cramp. And Spot attacking one the posters on my wall, that was 5 feet above the floor. Not sure if that was a bug, light from the window, or some weird criticism of Southern Culture On The Skids. Having an Old Fashioned and seafood and linguini.

Happy Christmukkah!

Happy Christmas!

{{{{Flyboy}}}}

“Squeaky toy” and “quiet” are two diffrent things.

Yay!

I went to an Orthodox wedding once. Pretty cool.

Happy Whatever you celebrate!

We aren’t big xmas fans but I like the lights and shiny and giving people presents so we do our own secular celebration on xmas because we both got that day off. Just a day off when we were working was reason to celebrate anyhow.

I have a wrapped gift for Hubs and several for the fuzzbutts, but cats don’t know what day it is and Hubs thinks that wrapping paper is a waste of money so all of that is just for me anyhow.

(He doesn’t buy me “gifts”. He bought me flowers once (roses, the day after the night before) and bought me diamond earrings for my 60th birthday but that was only because I told him to. If I want or need something, I tell him and it magically appears, no wrapping paper involved.)

I’ve been to several Orthodox xmas masses. They do have the ceremonial pageantry down pat!

One of our Bridge cats had a piece of lamp pull chain. She originally stole it from Hub’s reloading press, so I bought her a piece of her own. She would drag it around and find a nice piece of lino and then sit there and pick it up and drop it, pick it up and drop it, pick it up and drop it.

I didn’t think it was annoying but another cat did. She would put up with it for a while and then go and smack the poor playing cat and hide the chain in her bed so she could take a nap.

Gentle hugs, you are NOT a wimp, your back is not playing nice and you are suffering.

Sleep well and drive extra carefully tomorrow. Your reflexes are going to be slower because of the ick and it would suck to crash your brand new car and have to go through all that bother and paperwork.

I sure do hope they value you at least as much as we do.

I’d have been upset too unless they had a good reason to want to keep you. People recover much better at home, in their own bed and quiet nights. I hope our release goes smoothy and you are using your own toilet by this time tomorrow.

Have a safe drive and be sure to take pics! Ms Peach is adorable and her admiring public need more.

And now I’m running out of steam, it is kinda late. I lost track of time cause needle and shiny thread. Earlier today I thought I would move the kitchen island to give the floor a good mopping. GG objected so strongly that Hubs had to take off his headphones and come out to see what the problem was.

I should probably head off to bed, I’ll try to catch you all tomorrow, but I’m at a tricky spot and need to pay attention.

I’ll be at her house until the new year.

Congrats on getting out! It’s been a long road.

There was just a toilet paper commercial on TV. (The one with the bears and the non-linear perforations.) Mrs. L.A. commented that I use so little toilet paper, that she doesn’t know hoe I get clean. Actually, I frequently feel that I use too much. (I’m rather anal about my hygiene.) I said that it’s because I fold; not wad. She said she doesn’t ‘wad’; she ‘fluffs’.

Anyway, TMI convo.

She needs a bidet for xmas. You can buy bidet toilet seats for not a whole lot of money and I was able to install ours with just a wrench. She will wonder how she ever got along without one and you will save even more money on toilet paper.

I think it would be more impressive if you install it and then put a ribbon on the toilet lid, opening the package might not go over as well as you might hope.

Isn’t that the nature of the beast?

Also because you’re a dude. You’re not pulling paper every time you go to the bathroom.

HAPPY FESTIVUS!!!
May your meatloaf be moist, and your Pole stay erect.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Star with LED lights. Which is actually a snowflake, or angel flake, if I look at the box. Looks like this: Angel flake

Best Christmas present ever!

Went to the grocery store for the last time until Saturday. Just about ready to leave to go to the Christmas markets in Zurich and to see the lights. Last year we went after Christmas, and they had already taken the Swarovski Christmas tree down, so this year we’re going before everything closes. Today is the last day of the Christmas markets, as everything closes tomorrow at 1600 or thereabouts.

Should go get ready to catch the train - Happy Tuesday!

Sleepy. Going to try to keep up this week. More later!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 6c/43f with no predicted change, and cloudy. Weather app says “Your moves are fucking weak, sun. You need to fucking do better.” No sign of any sunlight today, we did get a glimmer yesterday though.

Cookie glad to hear the new seat got installed for you, must be an xmas gift from maintenance.

Flyboy I hope yesterday was uneventful for you and you didn’t damage anything else!

I wouldn’t want to chance 7hrs driving in that kind of weather, especially as you can’t be sure of what is at the other end. Maybe the “wintry mix” on the way will have become full-scale blizzard by the time you get there, and you’d be stuck.

Fingers and paws crossed for you! I’m sorry it involved a panic, and a complaint about someone else too.

I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better now, certainly hot water and steam can do wonders for congestion!

You have not become wimpier! You’re making a sensible decision based on what your body tells you. After all that walking, and being in pain, getting the bus home is totally the right thing to do.

Same here! I like to see bright and shiny decorations, everything looks so cheerful when the days are dark and gloomy. But we don’t decorate at home, ‘‘im indoors can’t be bothered, and I sometimes find all the bright and shiny a bit overwhelming so it’s nice to have calm and peace at home.

I was “working” yesterday, we were all at home as there was absolutely no point opening the office. We poked senior management and were allowed to log off just after 3pm. I’d already been to do most of the grocery shopping at lunchtime, so logged off and went to the gym. They have a new door entry system (those of you on FB will have seen my little rant about it). Previously they issued a keyfob thing that you tapped on the box by the door, and it worked.

The new system requires an app. That was my first source of annoyance’, ‘cos the keyfob thing worked just fine for me. I downloaded the app, set up an account which was a faff in itself, and saved a pic of the instructions issued by the gym. I went to use it yesterday and had trouble getting in (a very nice guy who had just come out was kind enough to let me in). The new system requires the app to be open (even though it says you don’t need to), it also needs internet, bluetooth, location and NFC to be enabled. Honestly, it’s just overcomplicated nonsense.

I went home via the pet store to get some cat littler, and some Muffin food, then stopped to get petrol. When I got back, I fed the cats, cleaned litter trays, gathered up recycling and emptied that into the biiiiig bin which then got hauled to the kerb. The dustcart came round at 7.30am so the biiiiig bin has been hauled back to where it lives.

Today’s plan is to do the last of the xmas food shopping, ‘im indoors wants to come along so we’ll do that this morning. Then we can go to our respective gyms in the afternoon. My turn to cook tonight, I took some chicken out of the freezer so it’ll either be chicken curry, or tarragon chicken. Haven’t decided yet.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 46 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 73 and partly cloudy to start but sunny in the afternoon. Today is laundry day. I can hardly contain myself. Also, I will go to Sam’s this mornin’ to get a chawklit pee-kahn pie and tp. We are down to only 48 rolls! I have decided that I will not be mad if the pie is gotten into before Thursday. Ya gotta pick your battles after all. doggio will be glad to know that sup will be beastloaf in honor of Festivus, along with green beans, mac ‘n cheese, and rolls. The beastloaf is already cooked and just needs to thaw and be warmed.

VanGo hope Ms. Peach and you made it to Maine.

MetalMouse safe travels today.

red happy gettin’ sprung day!

JtC I took on candle duty cause I am retired and can do it whenever. Several other folk know the routine as well. I figured out how to take apart and re-assemble the two Altar candles in the Resurrection Chapel. We inherited them from a church that closed and they needed a good cleanup and polish. They come apart in several pieces, a very weird thing. I gave a class on how to re-assemble and there are now instructions written down. Actually it was kinda easy to figure out the re-assembly from lookin’ at a picture of the csndles. Why am I tellin’ you this? To give you your RDA of pointless and useless information, I suppose.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday/Festivus Y’all!

Went skiing and snowboarding with SenGirl today. The snow wasn’t the best but not bad. She starts her instructor class the day after tomorrow. Japan is pretty serious about the instructor test and she doesn’t think she’ll pass it this time.

SenBoy spent the day with his friend. He is really happy we came back to Japan and his Japanese has gotten really good. I was listening to him talk to his teacher on the phone and he really has improved.

SenWife is still out of town and busy. No news is good news.

My mother has the flu. She’s 90 and in ok health so we worry. Hope she will be ok.

Did you ever hear back from the guy about whether he wanted you to return the unexpected craft supplies? Did he want them? Or did I miss the end of that drama…

We got one and FCD loves it!! I’ve found it to be useful myself, despite my concerns about cold water. It’s actually not bad. Well, except the time it got bumped and was running ever so slightly and I turned the handle the wrong way and got my t-shirt squirted… I shoulda sat down rather than try to figure out which way to turn it while standing in front of it. Lesson learned.

Dicey - Roxy told us a joke yesterday that I just had to share with you.

What’s the best thing about Switzerland?
I don’t know, but their flag is a big plus.

Did I mention that I have waaaaaay too much tarragon? I bought some on line and it turns out the jar was waaaaaaaaay bigger than I thought. So what else can one do with tarragon besides put it on chicken?

Roxy just scared the dickens out of me - she came in sooooo quietly, then spoke when she was right at my shoulder. Anyway, she’s getting dressed, then I’ll give her PB&J toast for breakfast. Tobias will be here within the hour, then the fun begins.

Well it will, after I shower and dress. And so my day begins.

Happy Christmas Eve eve!

I decided I’m not setting out on a 7+ hour drive in this mess.

It’s a Tuesday, the 23rd of December. Okay, let’s get it over with, “What do you call the day before Christmas Eve? It’s Christmas Adam, because Adam arrived before Eve!” Yeah, yeah, somebody had to do it.

Flyboy, I read yesterday that NASCAR star Brad Keselowski broke his leg skiing, so he’s probably a no-show for the big opening race.

VanGo, when I read wintry mix, I sometimes think of my late MIL, who would make a huge batch of Chex Mix to give a bagful to everyone on Christmas.

It is a Tuesday, which usually means Mrs. Nott will be doing a Poshmark show. However, she won’t do one today, because everybody will be too busy and too broke from holiday shopping.

To sorta quote from Dickens’s Tiny Tim, “Gesundheit, every one!”
