(Old) Happy Hanuholichristkwanzaavus- A Holiday(s) Week MMP

I napped. I dreamed of zombies and Marines running a NASA bootcamp. Watching hockey now, having a martini, and having French style chicken, Morels, and olives with brown and wild rice.

Wouldn’t catch 'em, would just move them off the track and into ground.

True that.

I’ll wait until next week to see if I get a response. I commented on one of their posts what I reported here. If I don’t get a response, I’ll initiate a charge-back.

In other news, one of our members (work) asked for the paperwork to become a data contributor. I’ll send the documents in the morning.

Well, the tshirts that FedEx said would be here today got to Memphis this evening. So, NH to TN is the best route to MD?

We hates FedEx, we does.

I hope that the pain decreases in frequency.

Yay!

While a long, strange trip, I’m in a recliner with Nelson, plus his father Frankie and Aunt Ginger. He doesn’t want to leave my side.

Sis and I got almost to my apartment when we remembered my cane back at rehab. That delayed the trip an hour. Then we required BIL’s assistance getting in and up the one step. Once we figured out chair heights and navigated the bathroom, we seem to be doing better.

Sis mentioned that when she has the main bath redone. They are in the process of taking bids now. Now she’s reconsidering a walk in shower , much as she lurves her long tub soaks (not enough space for both). The other thing will be to put a wider door in. My walker doesn’t fit, so I’m using my cane in it.

I grew up in the Eastern US. Cow catcher.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 50 degrees Ferret Height(10.0 Centipedes) outside.

This.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out with a dense fog advisory in effect until ten a.m. and then sunny with a predicted high of 76. Next week we go back to highs in the 50s. Go figure. We will go to the [s]hog trough[\s] GC for lunch just cause. This will be followed by nappage. I need nappage cause I will be servin’ at both Christmas Eve services. The first one is the kiddie service in which I will serve Chalice. The kiddies are doin’ a pageant so that will be cute. The second will be the usual Christmas Eve service with incense and all that. On the plus side the services are at five and seven p.m. While I do love a good midnight service, I am glad we’re doin’ earlier services.

red hooray for bustin’ out of rehab and undivided Nelson attention!

Now I need more caffeine and to eat a little sump’n so’s I can take meds. Then I shall purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Christmas Eve/Hump Day Y’all!

Good morning!

Annie and I are having our usual Quality Poodle Time. The only difference is that I’m wearing dangling, sparkly Christmas tree earrings today. I’m wearing them in memory of my dad. I probably mentioned this before here, but when I was about 8 my mom said I was too young to get my ears piereced. My dad decided that was not the case. He took me to the mall and I got them pierced. We had lots of fun and joked about wrapping up my ears since they were part of my Christmas present. Then, every year afterwards for at least 20 years, my dad and I would spend Christmas Eve together and he’d get me a new pair of earrings.

Well, I just got off the phone with MusicMan. He’s had a sore throat and it still there which really annoys him because he absolutely LOVES to sing Christmas carols. Ok, I’m not feeling great right this moment either. Gotta love nausea. I’ll be back later!

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 4c/39f with a predicted of 5c/41f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Suck it, clouds. Fucking suck it.”

I only have a small jar and don’t use it often. Fortunately, given the choice, ‘im indoors asked for tarragon chicken so that’s used up quite a bit. We use it in Bearnaise sauce for steak too.

Disappointing, perhaps, but it sounds like you made the sensible decision there.

I hope so too, and I hope the afternoon nap helped you to feel a bit better.

That is a sad story, especially if it’s something you were really looking forward to. Sadly, so many stores have folded this year.

Hurrah for a safe trip, I hope you enjoyed the experience in the new car too. Feel better soon!

Very wise decision, you don’t want to be stuck with that much pie if it’s not up to scratch!

She’s much the same as usual. She growls, hisses and snarls whenever Cherry gets a bit too close, she spends most of her time on her blankie under the window, and she still bites me after a bit of fuss. She hasn’t ventured out of the room where she lives, and I am concerned about her because nobody’s upstairs for a lot of the evening so she’s all on her own. I’m planning a charm offensive while I’m off over xmas though, a lot of sitting on the floor with her in the hope that she’ll eventually turn that corner.

I hope you get your money back from them, it’s rough when you are watching the pennies and someone does that to you.

This makes me very happy, for you and for Nelson. A lapful of dogs is always a good thing.

I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying some good poodle time with Annie, and enjoying your sparkly earrings. What a lovely story!

Nothing exciting here today. We did the last of the xmas food shopping yesterday, I went to the gym in the afternoon and made dinner for us. Today, ‘im indoors is going to his gym but I am forsaking mine and running the rollsuck instead. That’s enough of a workout for me! We’re having ribs for dinner tonight, they are marinating in the fridge. The cats are distributed around the house and will go and hide as soon as the rollsuck comes out. Other than that, I’ve copied my accounts spreadsheet over to next year’s version and updated some regular charges.

I’m almost at the end of my cup of tea, and ‘im indoors is getting ready to go out. Guess that means it’s time to get the rollsuck out!

Re Muffin: some cats just want to be only cats. I know, we have one. She would never get along with anyone until we stopped trying to get her to get along with another cat. We luckily were able to re-home the other cat. Over time then Muffin became very cuddly and happy and now she even gets along with other humans. I wonder if you could find someone willing to foster Muffin and see if that helps her and if it does maybe she could be adopted by someone wanting an only cat.

Well, I’m apparently not coming down with anything, as there are no symptoms today. So our brunch with some family is still on.

Looks like we have a new executive director for the building after the last fiasco. This one is a man, which is a departure from before. The vast majority of the staff here are women, as was the previous bad hire and the long term director before her. This guy is apparently a woodworker, which bumps him up a notch in my estimation, so we’ll see how things go.

orthodox do love incense. it gets very foggy, especially in smaller churches. funerals have mostly minor key music with dissonance. adds a nice spooky mood. the slavic churches have the best music as most of the major composers wrote church music. coptic churches have percussion. they come the closest to nearly dancing. the alaskan chants have a good rhythm.

i believe i might not be alone in the office… i hear rustling about…quick shufti, yep, 2 in the office.

my plan is to have lunch at a restaurant and then head home. the office is closing at noon.

Morning all. If the wind and rain cooperate, we’ll go see a big holiday light display. If not, we’ll hang out with the relatives.

Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve!

It’s 39°F and damp outside. The forecast calls for showers and rain throughout the day, and we, too, have high wind warnings/advisories for later today. We’ll see if they actually materialize. The expected daytime high is 48°F.

Metal Mouse, I’m glad you arrived safely and hope you’re feeling better today.

Cookie, it’s good to hear you’re feeling better. I hope the new director is much, much better than the last one.

Red, yay for finally being home! I’ll bet those Nelson snuggles were the best!

I ran the last of my errands yesterday, and I about gagged when I had to pay for the prime rib roast. They really raised the prices this year! It’s only once a year, but I dunno if it’s worth it anymore. For as much as I paid, I could have ordered a Waygu prime rib roast for not much more.

Anyway, I was in and out of the butcher shop in mere minutes, then off to Safeway, where I purchased spuds and other odds and ends.

Upon arriving home, I put away the groceries, unloaded the dishwasher, and noted that the water didn’t drain all the way. The filter is clean, and so are the hoses. I poured vinegar in the drain and let it sit for several hours, but no love. So, I’m guessing that once again, that tiny plastic piece is busted, and I’ll have to buy a whole new part. This will be the second time for this repair. I’ve about had it with this dishwasher. I want to buy a new one, but that’s not in the budget right now. Maybe in a couple of months.

I need to wash the bedding in the guest room and do some general tidying today. That’s about all that is on the agenda. I’ll probably run the rollsuck too, because Buster and Maisie shed a lot.

I wish you all a very happy Christmas Eve, and, if your day isn’t filled with family, at least a peaceful and warm one.

The Midwest, definitely cow catcher here, where we have lots of cows.

It’s Christmas Eve here on this side of the pond.

SenWife is still gone and comes back in a couple of days.

SenGirl discovered that she hadn’t completed an online module for her snowboarding instructor class tomorrow so we had to go through it tonight.

Japanese customs for Christmas are quite different. It’s not as big of a deal, but they usually eat Christmas cake, a sponge cake with white icing, strawberries and whipped cream.

It’s eaten on Christmas Eve and any cakes not sold by the end of the day on the 24th go on discount on the 25th.

Back when people got married earlier in life, women who were still single at 25 were jokingly called Christmas cakes. What wonderful sexism we used to have.

I’m sure the feeling is mutual. I’m smiling just thinking about your homecoming and reunion.

Good Morning all. Went to bed not long after dinner (Olive Garden) and slept until nearly 7am so feeling better today albeit my nose is still stuffy. Watching Top Gun: Maverick while awaiting breakfast. Should be a quiet day, have already filled my gas tank and bought lottery tickets (hey, $1.7 billion is worth a shot). Might go to church with the family but probably not. Usually do the gift exchange today but we’ll see what the work schedule for the nephews is Still due to reach nearly 70F today, so pretty good December weather.

Trying to keep up with everyone but doing responses on my cellphone is beyond my limited capabilities. If I don’t get back with you have a safe and Merry Christmas.

Is your goddaughter old enough to be part of the pageant?

Up, caffeinating (finally, a decent cuppa joe), breakfasted and listening to jazz/swing xmas music. I set a goal for progress today and am halfway to meeting it. Sis stepped out for a few minutes but will be back before I get into too much trouble. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dog pile! Enjoy being home (not your home, but Nelson’s there, so that’s almost home) for the holidays.

This morning I went to the gym for a personal training session. Not many people there, which isn’t much of a surprise. Most Swiss celebrate Christmas on the 24th, so everything closes around 4 or 5 pm. Christmas Day is for skiing, sledding, visiting friends, since the main family thing is already over.

We had decided to rearrange the room that used to be a guest room. We were going to do it Friday, but hubby started on it today. So that’s done, except for some minor details.

As it’s only the two of us, no big plans this evening. Now that we’ve got our appointments done, we have nothing else that we have to do until Monday January 5th. Time to practice our slothing skills. :sloth:
Happy Christmas!
