Hi to you early risers.
My apt floor is waxed and beautiful.
I am off to have the lady help me sign the job offer, Harri ( the job site) isnt cooperating.
This is the one thats 4 hours a day and 15 dollars.
Lots of healing vibes wafting to FCGrandMooom.
We went out to dinner last night at a classy Italian joint called Amici. I suppose that means “friends,” or to folks my parents’ age, “telephone.” That’s an obscure pun.
The local NPR station has launched into its fall fund drive, meshing nicely with the government shutdown.
Nellie’s son-in-law’s name must be Jack, with those 11.5-foot cornstalks. Let’s see if he comes up with a magic harp, a golden goose, and a dead giant.
It’s time for breakfast. I’ll turn off the SAD lamp and move to another room. Bye, now.
Hey all! Just trying to keep it all together. So busy.
I just had an online class tonight and had computer problems. Nothing more frustrating than that.
More tomorrow
Ours just finished. Last time, I did the sign-up-for-monthly-donation. $10 a month is hardly noticed and I feel all superior when they ask for money!
Found out a former coworker doesn’t agree with my politics (or he doesn’t like Otis) on FB. He accepted my friend request 2 days ago, and last night, I was unfriended. I have to say, I’m disappointed in him. Oh well, haven’t seen him in over 20 years, so no big loss.
FCD has headed to the boat to get some measurement - he’s going to make up some fuel lines this afternoon. I’m about to go shower and I’m wondering if Otis will take up a post on the bathroom rug like he did for FCD the other day. Higgs used to do that, but she was easy to step over.
Has anyone seen my motivation - it seems to be missing…
Good morning all. Slept in until after 7am, I do wish I could understand my bladder, some days it is not massively safe to be away from a receptable more than two hours and others days I only have to micturate 4-5 times. I drink about the same amount of the same things daily, so it is a puzzlement. Nothing much on the schedule until the 5:30pm soccer practice with the littles, and no shopping excursions planned, so might just hang around the house for once. We’ll see how much energy I generate.
Holy Moley!
Aah, that makes sense, in a Zen-Robber Baron way, I guess.
Coppertone, I usually have high BP when at the doc’s; it is a common occurrence I hear. Concur with your remedy for it. And best wishes with the job.
flyboy, almost wonder if it’s some AI bot that is indeed ‘triggered’ to respond that way…then again, given the level of general ignorance…
boo fae, out all night and up early for work; ah, to be young again…
Sticky Buns, hope the meeting goes well, along with Music Man’s appointment.
FCM, sounds like a good day for a nap…but given a new dog, grandkids, and a hyperactive husband along with your own impressive work ethic, I doubt you’ll get one. Take care.
And been long enough since pill-taking that I can break fast with a Big Bowl Cheerio’s and an apple, so take care all and have a great Thorsday.
Full-sized ones? Whole? I was thinking about this in the shower, and then I thought peanut butter fondue should be a thing. It seems it is. I think I’d just simplify and gently heat up a mixture of peanut butter and honey, which is also good between two pieces of bread. I like marshmallows, but prefer honey.
The Pickup truck with the Jack o’Lantern is tempting me. Link. It’s probably good that I can’t just go to a store and buy it. On the other hand, there were some Christmas kits last year that looked tempting online, but I didn’t like them when I saw them in person. There are a few stores in the area which actually have some of the other new kits, so I should stop by. Eventually I’ll succumb to temptation.
That’s amazing!
Went to the mall where they have normal stairs, which I need for getting my back to feel better. All the stairs in our building are spiral, which are not good for going up and down for exercise.
Found a pair of black cords which I can wear on Monday when I go into the office. My abdomen is about the normal size, but I still have bandages, so having looser clothing is more comfortable. Was lazy, so I didn’t get going to early. That meant I had to cut my visit short, so I could meet hubby at home for lunch. He made latte macchiatos after lunch, and now that everything’s settled, I should go out for another walk. Hopefully it’s warmed up a bit - this morning’s 4°C/40°F was a bit chilly.
Those are impressively cute baby kittens! Skritches and kisses from way, way far away.
If I may be so nosy - what pills require you not eat soon after? I’ve heard of those you’re not supposed to take on an empty stomach, but not the other way. At least not and I’ve had to take.
OK, for sure now I’m off to shower. Really!!
In my and metal mouse’s case, this is a Levothyroxine or thyroid replacement pill taken every morning on an empty stomach and waiting 45 minutes or an hour to eat.
Good morning!
It’s dark, 53°F, and mostly cloudy outside. Today will be generally cloudy, with a high of 71°F, and a chance of a rainshower or two.
Thanks for the welcome back greetings.
Nellie, what an annoying day! I hope today is much better.
Pilot, I’m glad your trip was so good. I’ve never flown first or even business class. I’ve almost always had economy seats, but I sprung for preferred seating for this latest trip so I could at least choose my seat. I was sitting in 10F on the way out and 11F on the way back. I preferred 11F because it had the whole window. 10F had the unusual window, positioned slightly in front and behind on a Boeing 737-9 MAX. The flight out was overly full, but on the return flight, the seat between me and the aisle seat was empty, which was nice.
While we were waiting to board our flight home, we noticed a lot of police and with lights flashing on the tarmac, and lots of people lined up. Everyone was kind of joking that it was probably for Taylor Swift, but as it turned out, they were waiting for an American flag-draped coffin to be unloaded. This was for a service member whose helicopter had crashed on a training mission in Washington state. Four service members were lost in that crash, not far from Nellie.
While I was in Missouri, an old friend texted me wanting to meet up for a meal, and also to set a date for mushroom foraging. I’m not sure I want to forage with her, because last time she wanted to leave after an hour, and it was a two-hour drive to get there. I’ll probably contact her next week.
Sticky, I hope both the meeting and the appointment go well.
FCM, I hate living so far from the grands. Adam didn’t reallly remember me anymore. He was just under three the last time I saw him.
I suppose I’ll probably have to do some laundry today. I haven’t even unpacked my suitcase and those clothes need washing. I’ll probably run the rollsuck, too. I didn’t do anything yesterday except catch up on some trash TV shows I missed while away, and I watched all eight episodes of a new series on Netflix that also came out while I was away. That was a lot of slothing. But Buster was loving it; he spent hours lying on my lap, at least as much of him as would fit.
I’ll probably have to get out and deal with some fall gardening things if the rain stays away, too.
Alright, it’s time to get on with the day. Please take care of yourselves.
Happy Thursday!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to get sheveled to head to Sis’. We should have a fun day ahead.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Exactly.

so they resort to childish behaviour.
Next time I should just say, ‘I know you are, but what am I?’

I’m here! I’m here!

thyroid replacement pill
Interesting. I think MIL was on some kind of thyroid meds but I don’t recall the no-eating part. Wonder if we were doing in wrong??

Have you ever done video chats with them? When we were on vacation, we called (via FB Messenger) and talked to the kids, which was fun. Across the ocean and we still could see each other!
A very nice surprise after I got out of the shower - Otis was in his crate! So he recognizes it as his space - yay! Then I took him out to the yard and he wandered around sniffing till he decided to pee (when do boy dogs learn to lift a leg instead of squatting?) And when I said “Let’s go inside” he ran to the door. He’s a smart critter. We just need to teach him not to jump up on people.

You mentioned often that she was cold, which is a cardinal sign of being low thyroid, so it is very likely. Plus in the elderly being low thyroid is much more common than being hyperthyroid. You said she was a free-lancer with her and FIL meds so she might have just ignored those instructions (or couldn’t read the fine print on the prescription label to take on an empty stomach in the morning and not eat for X minutes).

At the risk of jinxing myself, work seems like it’ll be on the quiet side today (except for continuing to unravel some of the new-FY-related stuff). I only have one meeting – which isn’t until 3pm – and so far I’m on top of everything on my “to do” list. We’ll see how the day shapes up!
Being in the house alone is still kind of hard, so I’m still coming to the office every Thursday, but I’ll admit that part of me is looking forward to working from home tomorrow even though I know there will be some sad moments. Tomorrow will be three weeks since I said goodbye to Bailey; I’m slowly adjusting to my new reality. I’ll keep coming to the office four days a week* for a while, but it’s good to have at least one commute-less day – and a day when it’s easier to make phone calls and I don’t have to wear headphones during Teams meetings – every week. Plus, tomorrow is an “off” Friday for a lot of the folks on the program (including my boss and 4/5 of my direct reports) so this place will be a ghost town anyway.
*One more than required. Only while the weather is good, though: I figure in another month it won’t sting as much to be home alone, and I’ll revert to my Mon-Wed in-office schedule just before it gets seriously cold.
Last night I did some very basic home maintenance: I replaced a toilet seat for the second time in my life. The hinges in the old one had completely broken, so I ordered a replacement from Amazon (an upgrade, even: this time I went for a wood seat). Removing the old lid’s screws was a little challenging, especially since the space around the toilet is tight and it took some contortioning to be able to grab what I needed to with a wrench, but eventually I got them out. Probably one of the simplest tasks someone can do, but I still felt a sense of pride/accomplishment.
Once all of the old parts were removed, the new seat’s assembly was super easy. The new lid is heavier than the old one (because of being wood vs plastic), which somehow feels nicer/better.

Back in Ye Olde Dayes she’d been a ticket counter agent for both Eastern & later Delta.
It’s so cool that you both have experience with the airlines, even if it’s from different angles.

That is definitely very cute! But it’s similar enough to the Halloween Pumpkin gift with purchase (GWP) I got last year that I don’t feel the need to get it. My little light-up pumpkin has been disassembled and in a Ziploc bag since November, but I plan to bring it to work on Monday and reassemble it: it’ll be desktop Halloween decor, along with the Luminous Ghost GWP I’m getting because of yesterday’s order.

Hello.
Do you add these timing messages, or are they added automatically ?
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I add them manually.
I started doing it a while ago: I no longer remember why, but now I find that I like providing that context/info. I have the “template” in a notepad file, so I just copy and paste and fill in the times…but only at the top of my first post of the day.
Sang happy birthday to the wife this morning.
Canceled the Costco trip, as I’m not full of energy today. It’s probably because I took a couple of Aleve last night for this nagging hitch in my giddy-up. It always leaves me tired, even after a night’s sleep.
Went on the vehicle registration site only to find that I did indeed renew it. But I have no idea where the new plate stickers are. Guess I’ll have to (shudder) call them and try to get replacements.
Started on the green chili stew. I always forget how much waste there is on a pork shoulder. I managed to get 1.5 pounds out of a 2 pound boneless roast. It’ll have to do. Now I have to wait for the cleaning person to do the apartment before I can continue.
I met Birch yesterday. Birch is a black female cat that belongs to a guy in the building. He says she showed up at his window one day and he took her in. Very friendly little gal who doesn’t mind being on a halter/leash. Any time I’ve ever tried to do that with a cat, you’d think I had imposed a death sentence or subjected them to the horrors of the Inquisition.
Top White 100 again today. They were testing the RFID stuff. Middle Green got slammed and backed up, which meant the stuff was on the metro belt, which meant dragging irregs down the belt. I had 12 tires. Plus some yahoo used us instead of a moving company, so the car with the tires also had 23 18"x18" boxes to stuff in it. The drivers left late, of course. I did my Senior Day shopping, now it’s nap time.

They certainly are - there are pics on FB if you can get onto that.

ike a responsible adult.
That’s crazy talk!

Hey all!
< waves >

I no longer remember why,
It helps you keep track how long you got distracted by Legos.

Yeah, Spot wouldn’t go for that. Not that he’s a fan of outdoors anyways.
