(Old) Marching along in the MMP

Bok choi is better than Napa cabbage in recipes. (It was still good, though.)

I did not go to the protests today. I feel slack, but the thought of being among a throng of strangers without my social crutch Mrs Magill makes me feel nauseated, so I stayed home. Laundry is finished and I’ve pruned the raspberry bushes. There were quite a few dead straws that I’d cut off, and I wove the live ones back on the trellis. I loaded the cut straws into the trunk of Squeaky’s car to take to the convenience center and found out they’re still not taking yard waste. The next stop was to be the car wash, because that boy’s car is dirty. However, everyone else in town had the same idea, so I said, “Screw that,” only I didn’t say screw.

metalmouse UAH didn’t feed them, so Mrs Magill and Squeaky hit the Ikea up for lunch. She was unimpressed. In fact, she compared it unfavorably with the one in Memphis. That’s… not good.

Flyboy Cherokee Purple tomatoes and god’s gift to BLTs and tomato sandwiches. Enjoy!

Since two-thirds of the Magill household spent multiple hours in the car today Mrs Magill has determined that we will play hooky on Palm Sunday and she will sleep in.

Going to do my late-night final just after 9pm here, because the day is really catching up with me. Having the last calories of the day and will probably head out to watching basketball after typing this until Slumberland enfolds me. Down to 50F but still pretty comfortable inside.

JtC, how nice of Hubs to earn his brownie points… And with dogs now living at both my next-doors, it ain’t possum poop I’m worried about.

Mollie, if they come back for a revisit, have them try Cheddar’s or the Ol’Heidleburg Cafe or Phil Sandoval’s which are in the same plaza as the Ikea, they are pretty good.

And that’s all he wrote…catch y’all tomorrow when my brain resumes it’s proper operation.

Are you the one who torches the palms for next year’s Ash Wednesday?

How much do you all hate Amazon delivery? My new shoes are now in limbo. My current steel toes are starting to show wear…i.e. the steel is showing through the leather. Looks kinda bad ass, but not the best look for a children’s museum.

I ordered copies of my novel to put on commission at my local bookstore and take to a conference. They divided them into two boxes. One box arrived on time, while the other vanished early on. I was then given a date 5 more days out, which would have been the 31st. This afternoon, the very taped-up box arrived with no notice.

May your shoes arrive soon.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. The usual morning cleaning and afternoon sloth are on tap for today. It’s currently 31 degrees Ferret Height(-0.556 Centipedes out). Brrr.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. Yawn ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 70 and cloudy. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have Chalice duty. Should be upper 50s by the time we march around wavin’ palms, so that’s not too bad. Church will be long this mornin’ cause we also get the Passion Gospel which is long. Thus beginneth Holy Week. We will get stoner food for lunch. The afternoon will be devoted to nappage and general sloth.

red sometimes I get to be the burner of palms. Fun! That is usually done on Shrove Tuesday as part of the pancake festivities. The kids are invited to take part. They get a kick out of it.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all! A Blessed Palm Sunday and Holy Week to all who observe.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/44f with a predicted high of 10c/50f and rain showers. Weather app says “Well, fuck a doodle do. It’s fucking raining.”

For hygiene stuff, I would think more smaller sizes so that your intended budget will go a bit further?

I get that with ‘im indoors sometimes. He doesn’t always want to come into town with me on a Saturday (often because he’s already done whatever he needs to do during the week) but if I say I need cat litter and that means parking near Jack’s Café, he can be bribed with the promise of lunchtime curry.

I am so glad your protest went well and you had a decent turnout, even if it wasn’t massive. Sounds like the counter-protest idiots may be starting to realise what they’ve done, and are feeling sufficiently uncomfortable that they’re not willing to make themselves so obvious to you.

Sensei I am sorry to hear about your mother and the ER visit. It’s a shame they couldn’t have kept her a little longer just so that you could all get some sleep.

That sounds like a very positive kind of day then - especially as there weren’t any problems and you had bonus musical professionals in there!

You needed a proper coat to go over the gold lamé boob tube and hotpants, haven’t we told you that before?

I am not surprised, all that fresh air and exercise is good for the body but it does wear you out!

I had a very busy but productive Saturday - went to the gym, did an errand (unsuccessfully), went to the supermarket for dinner makings, tended to the needs of cats, changed the bedding and put that in the laundry, and made said dinner. I also treated myself to a couple of glasses of wine while I watched some of “The Other Bennett Sister”.

Today I had a nice lie-in and have crossed a few things off my list. I’ve put some fresh colour on my hair, and I’m running a bath with some muscle therapy stuff in it as I’m aching after yesterday’s gym exertions. Yesterday’s unsuccessful errand has been completed via an online order for a spare bit for the rollsuck, and I have ordered a new pair of spare specs from an online place recommended by a co-irker. This is the weekend we change our clocks over here, so I’ve done my alarm clock and wristwatch, and the cooker display. The only one left to do is the car and I’ll do that tomorrow when I am ready to go out and about.

Now it’s time to go and soak my aching muscles, drink more tea and contemplate what to have for lunch. Today’s food will largely be leftovers from yesterday. I roasted a chicken so that was last night’s dinner. The girls weren’t interested in any of it, but Muffin was very keen on some of the meat and a bit of the crispy skin. Lunch will most likely be a chicken and stuffing sandwich. I think for dinner, I’ll put some of the chicken in a casserole dish with some gravy and warm that up in the oven along with some of the leftover roast potatoes, and cook some veggies to go with it. Just like my mum used to do! Other than that, my day involves nothing more than slothage.

I’ve got to say, they’ve been mostly pretty reliable for me, altho getting a text rather than a ding-dong from the doorbell is a minor irritation, since I don’t carry my phone on my person all the time. Tho yesterday’s delivery of canned dog food was announced by Otis barking at the strange vehicle in the driveway,

Today has started at 27 freekin’cold Ferrets! The low was forecast to be 33, so, well, dammit!! Theoretically, it’ll reach 60 Ferrets today. Place your bets…I really do miss the pellet stove - as soon as Superior’s chimney cleaning sale starts, I’ll book both chimneys to be cleaned plus the stove to be repaired. Then when R&D has their pellet sale, I’ll be ordering 3 tons - I hope that’ll be enough for next winter. We don’t have space for a 4th ton if we’re to park both vehicles in the garage. So we’ll see.

Yesterday, someone was supposed to come for the TV I listed on Marketplace. She never responded to my texts so its status went from Pending to Available. I do have someone coming today to (I hope) buy the aquarium that’s been sitting in the garage for lo these many years. I’ll be doing assorted chores at home all day, so it’s no great sacrifice to wait for him.

Main chore is to finish the hatch cover - I keep forgetting about it. Not sure what else needs doing. FCD will be working in his shop on the mount/shelf for the water system components (water heater, accumulator tank, pump, filter, associated plumbing.) That should all be installed this week. Then we get to pull water lines. He also wants to clean the bilge, and I need to clean and prep the aft cabin, then paint. We’re also going to try to get the windows to open. So much boat fun ahead.

Today will be what it will be.

Happy Sunday, with or without palms!

Well, the Purdue Boilermakers lost to the Arizona Wildcats last night in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. We have some family connections to Purdue, so our interest in the tourney has fallen off considerably. Oh, well, Congrats to the 'Cats.

Morning all. Slept (with a couple excursions to the W.C.) until after 7am and have acquired the Sunday NY Times, so my morning chore is done. Nothing much doing for a couple hours until I head out to Sunday Dinner and then maybe a gym session. Did a 3-hour water check yesterday evening and still nothing leaking (I’m still paranoid about it).

Most of my Amazon deliveries come via US Mail to my door, and so far it has been dependable…so far.

doggio, 53F here heading to 70F today, so not to bad.

swampy, I can remember as a kid dreading Church during the Hoiy Week; Palm Sunday readings, Stations of the Cross, Easter Sunday…hard times for a 7 year old, especially as it was still in Latin…

boo fae, happy clock changing. Enjoy the leftovers, which sound yummy.

FCM, best wishes on the entrepreneurship, and I mean, what else is there left to do to that boat that you two haven’t done?

Knots, from the modest amount I have watched, the Arizona team looks like the most complete team left, so Purdue did well to hang with them.

And need to do the Sunday internettin’ and You Tubin’ so off I go. Have a good Sunday all.

Good morning.

It’s 39F and cloudy outside. The morning clouds will bring afternoon rain and a daytime high of 47F.

Amazon Prime has been reliable for the most part, but more and more, packages are not arriving when expected. It’s pretty annoying, actually. Also, I hate when USPS delivers an Amazon package because it means a one-block walk to the mailbox. Yes, it’s not that far, but really, isn’t Prime delivery all about it being delivered to your door? I mean, that’s what I’m paying for. I realize it’s not Amazon’s fault, it’s the shipper, but I really feel like you should get to see up front who is delivering your package.

We tried out the new mower yesterday. It works very, very nicely. We really like it. Best of all no more messing with having to purchase gas or oil. Now we just need to get rid of the gas in the garage, so I’ll have to find a dumping station.

I was happy to see that the demonstrations some of you participated in went well. It seems it was the same here.

I washed the bedding and towels yesterday, too. However, if I had been smart, I would have waited until Wednesday, because Thursday is hubby’s cataract surgery. Instructions state he must sleep on clean bedding the night before, sans animals. Oh well. We’ve decided he’ll sleep in the spare room on Wednesday because the dogs can’t get through that door. I’ll wash the bedding that day and keep the door shut so they don’t jump on the bed either.

Well, I suppose I should get the day started. I don’t have plans, so I guess I’ll see how it goes.

Please take care of yourselves.

With a dog, you really don’t need a doorbell or knock to alert you that someone is there.

I barely remember Latin mass. Depending upon the priest, sometimes it wasn’t that understandable, even in English.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Sending the tax docs in is just about all that’s on the agenda, which is good, given that I need to keep the sore toe elevated.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

And the Fighting Illini made it to the Final Four! I’m sure my hollering at them from my living room motivated them…

I cleaned dusted and vacuumed. I had to go buy a new battery for Dora The Explorer, because her old one was pinin’ for the fjords. I also had to buy a new vermin feeder because wither Maintenance tossed the old one because Onan trashed it, or Onan dragged it off to his nest. 50/50. Watching the Japanese GP.

Flapjacks and arson? I’d be down for that, too.

Happy Metric Daylight Saving Time!

Yeah, boxes of books or reams of paper and belt systems don’t mix well.

-Glinda The Good Witch

Have dined and treated myself to cookies from The Cookie Fix so at the gym doing sweaty penance. Need to send out 1-2 more emails to the soccer coaches and then hopefully won’t have any issues before I go travelling. About 65F outside so not a bad day at all.

Well, I visited the dangerously cheap garden centre the next town over and escaped with only 3 plants, some shallot bulbs and the bamboo canes I went in for. Then went to the nice but not cheap one, with a plan to go to the cafe (last time they had probably the best slice of apple pie I’ve ever had) but the weather had turned to hail, all the grannies had scuttled in ahead of me, and the queue was too long, so I didn’t get any cake- or plants, though I was tempted by a few; they have nice stuff, just not cheap.

Then finally ticked off the last of the major jobs I was supposed to do for the weekend, and gave the ratties a proper cleanout. I didn’t get the laundry done, but I’ll be at home at least one day this week I think, so that’s fine. There’s not too much.

Metalmouse I’m not actually doing much; if you want to feel exhausted on someone else’s behalf, my parents have been left with my small nieces- the smaller of whom has a cold and never sleeps much at the best of times- while my brother and his wife have gone on honeymoon. Heh. Such a shame I live too far away to help out.

Ours are also brought by UPS or the USPS, though I do occasionally see an Amazon truck wandering around.

I’m beginning to think that by the time they finish, it will be time to start over.

We have 45 Ferrets now, up from 29 at 0800 (but still two short of the predicted high), and a Special Weather Statement about an elevated fire risk. They’re predicting 66 for Wednesday, but then back down into the high 40s the next couple of days.

Tomorrow afternoon I go to a dental surgeon to have what’s left of my teeth removed. Dental hygiene has never been my forte – more than half of them are already gone, and several of the remainder are in bad shape. At least I’m ~40 years older than my sister was when she had this done. And then Thursday will be PT again. This getting old is becoming quite tiresome.

RDOS!
RDOS!
Rah, rah, rah!

61F so far today. I made cornmeal pancakes for breakfast. Honestly, these things are so good they practically make you swoon. Ruined me for regular cakes, they have.

We did an early tour of the gardening opportunities here at The Home. Lots to be done this year. We’ll likely stick with planting the herb garden, our tomatoes, and some amount of flowers. They had to do some repair work on the second floor patio last year because of leaks, and it eliminated quite a lot of shrubs and planting areas, but other areas somehow got larger. En-ee-wayyyy…

Got some necessary grocerying done. $90 for two bags. Nap time, I think.

Here’s a smile for you. Wouldn’t you like to try to scratch my belly?
