Old Mobile Phones Can Fetch Thousands

Remember those old, clunky mobile phones? Well, if you still have one squirreled away somewhere, it’s pretty valuable. Story here.

Myself, I still don’t have a cellphone, never have, but I do remember those things.

Most Motorola brick phones are still $50-100 on ebay , and that's assuming they're in great shape. I sold mine last year for around 80 to a Canadian collector.

How interesting. What’s old is…well, it’s still old, but it’s collectible.

You don’t have a cell phone?
What are you, Amish?

All our four children have cell phones. (They are all grown up, so they can make those crazy life choices by themselves.) But my wife and I have never had a cell phone.

Now get off my lawn.

No cellphone, or “mobile” as they call them here. No car. It’s a wonderful sense of freedom. I know one Kiwi in particular whose quality of life vastly improved once he turned his phone off, stuck it in a drawer and never touched it again.

The wife carries one, though.
