Old news: Picard Facepalm New: Picard Middle Finger

Awesome story with an awesome picture.

I find it funny that this article, noting that they made a mistake and claimed that Kirk was in command of the Enterprise E, gives “NNC-1701-E” as its designation.

I think they’re probably taking the piss with that part.

It’s not the only error in it - they also say the Enterprise-E was 2 Enterprises after Kirk’s retirement (his last captaincy was of the Enterprise-B), and that it was a Galaxy Class (it’s Sovereign-Class)…the fact that it’s referred to as ‘one of the first two Galaxy Class’ could be another error (the first two Galaxy Class ships are the Galaxy (obviously) and…well, judging by non-recycled registry numbers, either the Enterprise-D or Challenger), or just weird phrasing. There’s probably a couple I’m not geeky enough to catch.

That the correction could, itself, be so error-ridden suggests…the errors are jokes. Especially when coupled with the ‘also, we apologise for any errors in this correction’.

Kirk wasn’t Captain of the Enterprise B, was he? He was “killed” by the nexus on the Enterprise B and I always thought it was an Excelsior-class ship.

Oops. You’re right. Kirk was only the 1701 and 1701-A. The B was John Harriman’s ship. That, of course, does add another level between Kirk and the E - making the E the 4th ship that Kirk didn’t captain, though still, technically, only the third since his ‘retirement’.

And, while we’re at it, Rachel Garret has the Enterprise-C, and surely you who know the captain Enterprise-D and -E were., (The Enterprise-J was captained by William Riker, but that was an alternate timeline.)

In fact, it seems that only the original Enterprise had more than one captain–Four onscreen: Robert April, Christopher Pike, James Kirk, and (Harold) Spock.

If Star Trek: Countdown is to be considered, Data is the current captain of the Enterprise-E. After reading Countdown, I think it would have made a better movie than STXI.

I can’t believe they left “Defiant” class off the poll.

because it sucked.

DO we know for a fact the B and C had only 1 captain?

That Deckard guy was the Captain in the first movie, at least until then-Admiral Kirk muscled in. April counts if the animated series does, and for many people it does not.

Technically we saw two Captains of the Enterprise-C. Castille took over after Garret was killed.

Would that count though? Riker took over when the Borg got Picard. He even got the extra pip for the official rank.

Deckard never captained the ship while it was moving so I don’t think he counts.

Let’s see…
Kirk never captained the B or the C.

Are these mistakes on purpose or did they just listen to the worst Star Trek Fan ever?

This surely has to be the best new site troll ever. It’s a thing of beauty.

Deckard? Wasn’t that Blade Runner? Don’t you mean this guy?

I think they’ve expanded the ‘correction’ since I looked before - I’m sure the A, B, and C weren’t mentioned before.

Not only are they trolling, they’re making their troll bigger.

Meh, Decker, Deckard… they both got horny for hot fembots…

I’d dare them to try that with a sports story. First mention in passing that David Beckham was a cricket player. Then later “apologize” and mention how he played for Liverpool. Then “apologize” again…

I figure they’ll get the same flood of corrections and in short order, threats of violence.
