Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 30 degrees Ferret Height(-1.111 Centipedes). Spot had Screaming Tuxedo Zoomies earlier, and is now passed out on the kitchen tile.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 39 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 68 and cloudy. TWPTB predict rain tomorrow. We shall see. I will be a bzzy bear today. First up will be to get Tom Turkey in the oven. Then I will go over to the church house to deal with candle duty and hole diggin’. Then back to da cave to finish up what needs to be done for the feast. JDD and Partner will show up around noon and we’ll have champagne. Feastin’ and the makin’ of merry will then ensue. I might not be able to squeeze it nappage. Imagine that!
JtC no cherries for the cheesecake, but we do have macerated strawberries and real whipped cream.
Coppertone glad the pain is lessened. Did you yell SCORE! when the ice cream landed in the garbage pail?
MetalMouse hope the refereein’ and coachin’ don’t wear you out too much.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I will make myself look somewhat reasonable. I think sweatshirt, sweatpants and sneaks will suffice for the tasks at hand this mornin’.
Happy Sattidy and VD Y’all!
Same here, but better than snow… Today starts at 21 Ferrets and mid-50s are promised as our high. In fact, many days in the 50s in the week ahead.
When Tobias and I were playing “basketball” he insisted I yell SCORE every time I got the ball into the box (the 2’X3’ box) So mostly I passed to him and let him slam dunk. ![]()
Plan for the day - we’re going over to the boat (can you imagine??) so FCD can install the sacrificial anodes and I can verify that the nav board covers fit before we install the snaps. Theoretically it’ll be a quick stop. Splashdown still on for Moanday.
No other plans at the moment. I will try to check the heating oil level. I’ve mostly not done it because the tank is on the shady side of the house, so still snowy and slippery over there. Plus I looked out a window on that end of the house and there are several very large branches that will need to be moved. Here’s hoping my boots keep me from slipping and falling.
Oh, yeah, rude awakening today. I stepped in something wet on my way to the terlit. I didn’t hear Ziva horking overnight, but I was sleeping pretty hard. Once FCD is up and about, I need to figure out what I stepped in and clean it up. So I have that to look forward to. Rah.
Happy Saturday and Happy
day for those who bother with it. (Yesterday, Food Lion was full of menfolk grabbing bunches of flowers from the huge display as you entered.)
Concert 1 in the books (what’s weird about these film projects is that from our perspective we’re doing a concert, while from the audience’s perspective there watching a movie). Overall it went well. Conductor maybe had a little trouble staying with the on-film soloists during the Magic Flute scene.
This morning is dress rehearsal, then concert 2 tonight. Probably a nap tonight. Mass tomorrow morning, then concert 3 (different group) tomorrow afternoon.
Morning all. Had an earache so didn’t sleep all that well, will get some eardrops today to deal with it (I hope). Dressed for soccer, soon as I finish this message I’ll get my stuff together and take off for the gym. It’s 38F heading to 63F and dry for the day but due to get wet tonight and tomorrow.
JtC, not that picky on colors, but do have rooms painted with different colors (great room and spare rooms are brown, kitchen is yellow, master bedroom is blue and bathrooms are green). Hope the cats enjoy.
Sleep well, shoe; you’ve earned it.
Enjoy feast and friends day, swampy.
FCM, happy cleaning and boat-tripping.
Pavo, take care and enjoy (if possible) a busy weekend.
And I’m out until I’m not. Have a good Sattiday all.
Cat hork was kibbles that apparently disagreed with her. Easy enough to clean up for all that it was unpleasant on my bare foot.
I’m showered and dressed and we’ll be leaving shortly for the boat.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 3c/36f with a predicted high of 4c/38f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Partly fucking cloudy? More like partly cloudy fucking bullshit.” That would explain the appearance of the Bright Yellow Thing in the sky, right?
I’m glad it went well, I hope they find an opening for you. Sounds like Nexus should be avoided at all costs, it would not be worth seeing those ugly mugs every day and feeling dirty.
He did, sort of. He eventualy messaged and apologised for the delay, and said he would come today. No sign of him yet, he messaged just before 10am saying his car wouldn’t start and he was getting new spark plugs. We’ll see if he turns up. Currently, we just feel like we (and the house) are cursed).
: Challenge accepted!
Pavo I hope everything goes well with the concerts, and the insurance people get their act together!

We had fun last night, after stuffing ourselves with my homemade chicken curry, we strolled up to the Chindit Inn where a friend of ours and his band were performing. We had a good time, there was a decent crowd and it was good to catch up with him and his partner. We had a chat on the way out with a couple who both insisted on a hug before we left. Walked back home and was in bed by midnight.
I was up early this morning to get the cats fed and litter trays cleaned, then got myself ready to go out. I left ‘im indoors snoozing while he waited for the roofer. I had things to do, so I drove up to the little retail park and walked down into town to go to the toiletries shop for toothpaste and mouthwash, then back via the rustic bakery for a loaf of fresh (still warm out of the oven) sourdough, then called in at the pet store for cat litter.
After that, I went to the gym for a consultation with Amrit. I’m booking a 3-month block of sessions with him as he can help with some hip and back pains I’ve been having. Turns out all the exercises I really like are the ones that aren’t good for me. We will be working on strengthening exercises and flexibility, and deep stretches, all of which should help. He is qualified as a personal trainer and physiotherapist so I get the best of both worlds.
Back home again, time to feed the cats and get myself some lunch. Beans on toast, with my yummy sourdough!
Perzactly! I once painted our kitchen a cheerful, bright yellow. It looked great in the afternoon and was fine after dark, but under the bright, unforgiving morning light it was horrible.
I’m glad you survived your long night and hope that today isn’t horrible. How’s Monkey and are you going to tell us whats wrong so we can properly worry or what?
I saw plenty of flowers leaving the hardware store too! I usually buy Hubs a box of chocolates for valentines day (hey…we forgot our anniversary on the 12th. Dangit!) but he’s so scared of another gout attack he wouldn’t really enjoy them. He would eat them because they are chocolate and in the house and he has no control, but he wouldn’t really want them.
Not a lot planned for today. When Jolene gets up, I’ll change the sheets and get the used ones sloshing. I should probably do a load of towels and I need to sweep my room but other than that, stitching will probably rule my day.
Or Diablo II. They put out a new expansion pack with a new character class (warlock) and more content. I read they expanded the endgame as well.
I’m not the gamer Hubs is, but I do like all six of the Diablo versions. I liked II better than III and Hellfire more than the OG game, but they all run on the same basic engine and follow the same storyline, just at different times in the universe.
It’s hard to decide which is worse, stepping on fresh warm catpuke or cold, lumpy catpuke. Either way, it isn’t fun!
Happy Heart Day!
It’s 40F and cloudy right now. It’ll remain generally cloudy all day, and our daytime high will only be around 48F.
FCM, be careful out there. With as much ice and snow you’ve dealt with lately, perhaps a trekking pole would not be amiss.
Metal Mouse, I hope you start feeling better.
I, too, use silicone spatulas and spoons. Have for years, but I had to buy a whole new set recently. My favorite mixing spatula finally gave up the ghost after probably 15 years of use. The plastic handle snapped right at the base. It was the perfect thickness for scraping bowls, and it was firm. One too many rounds in the dishwasher, I suppose. At any rate, I like my Oxo silicone stuff. The new set has metal handles (for the spoons and cooking spatulas).
VanGo, I’m sorry about the car. I’m happy to read you found a less expensive option, and hope everything is up and running tout de suite.
Since today is both Big Heart Day and a weekend, things will be mad at stores and restaurants. We’ll stay home. Hubby already gave me roses and bought stuff for a nice meal. He’s not much of a sweets guy, and he’s already bought himself a new game from Steam, calling it his present. That’s how we do things around here.
I buy him stuff (shirts, shoes, pants, or other things I know he needs or wants) when I’m out and about all the time. He tends to do the same, so presents on a special day are not really needed.
Alrighty, time to finish my coffee and enjoy a just a little more quiet time. You all take care.
Yeah, we’re getting rain on and off all day today, so’s y’all east of us will be getting it with the next couple of days.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Simmering a pot of veggie broth is on the agenda today along with the usual houseirk. I’m beginning to get my broth stash built back up in the freezer.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Good morning. Sorry for car woes and whatever else I haven’t remembered. JtC, I keep meaning to compliment the latest piece you posted.
We went for our Valentine’s dinner on Thursday (Greek–I had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for a souvlaki gyro). We’ll exchange cards this morning.
We’re hoping for mountain snow over the next few days.
The kittens were a PITA last night, because they’re kittens.
I have some tasks to accomplish today. Will report back if any prove to be mildly interesting.
presents on a special day are not really needed.
That’s us. I can’t recall the last time either of us got the other a gift.
FCD installed the anodes. I fitted the covers and saw a small problem that will likely require a problematic alteration (problematic because of where it has to be done. Dammit.) I need to stare at the pieces and think about it before starting. I have an idea or two, but I’m not doing anything till I’ve done the entire process mentally. He’s gone back to the boat to do some electrical magic and if he’s not back here by 1230, I’ll be taking Otis to training myself.
Meanwhile, I’m running the ice maker thru its cleaning cycle. No dustage has occurred yet.
At the gym awaiting my team for the 11am game. Got some ear drops in, we’ll see if they can help. Lunch was a bag of Cheetos Puffs so don’t say I don’t eat fancy. Hopefully will be done by 2pm and then decide if any more activity is called for or sloth will rule the balance of the day. Everyone take care and more later.
How’s Monkey and are you going to tell us whats wrong so we can properly worry or what?
He has a wound on his hip that he wouldn’t stop messing with. Best guess is he fell asleep next to a heating vent, got a little irritated spot, and proceeded to make things worse.
But he still had his cone on when I came home to check on him during my break, and wore it all through last night, so hopefully it has had a chance to start healing. I don’t wanna mess with it too much and start it itching & him getting motivated to get out of the cone again.
He’s also prescribed 2x liquid antibiotics, plus a silver based ointment for the wound, so that’s been … fun.
Our niece sent us a small boo-ket of flowers for the day’s sake. She always goes overboard. Meeting my eldest and family for lunch in about an hour.
small boo-ket of flowers
Pretty! Those lilies will be stunning as they open up.
Tired after Long Night, as per the usual. Well, off I go anyway.
Those are very pretty, but you might want to think about removing the lilies. Some of them are super bad for cats (like kidney failure causing bad).
I got all of my stuff done for the day while fuzzbutts enjoyed the sun.
It looks like the pot o’ grass isn’t the best idea after all. It has made Jolene puke twice, if it happens again out it will go.
Well, off I go anyway.
I hope you have an easy night!
And dang about your handsome boy, I hope he is all healed up soon. Cats have such thin skin, it tears so easily ![]()
He’s also prescribed 2x liquid antibiotics, plus a silver based ointment for the wound, so that’s been … fun.
Poor Monkey! (poor shoe having to pill and apply gunk).
It looks like the pot o’ grass isn’t the best idea after all. It has made Jolene puke twice, if it happens again out it will go.
Poor Jolene!
I got the usual houseirk done this morning, straightened up the linen closet and there’s a pot of veggie broth cooling to strain later and put in cartons for the freezer. I’ll take Nelson out shortly, then hem PJs.
It was going too easy. I had the 100 and 200 Slides clean most of the morning. Because the 300 Slide was slammed, and it was just C down there clerking. So I got sent over at 7. We got things cleared up at 10, mainly because in addition to the usual Next Day Air urine samples that needed data entry, CVS sent out a metric butt ton of meds and didn’t transmit the consignee data so we had to manually do those. Then I got to deal with the unidentified bits and damages from unload. Including the usual shattered porcelain tile box from Home Depot. Why the HD shipping department(which has the collective IQ of old potato salad) thinks that a 24x12x3 62lbs. box can be tossed into a 26x26x7 box with 2 pieces of craft paper and make it to its destination is beyond belief. Also one dude didn’t just order flowers, he added a teddy bear, box of candy, mini heart balloon(don’t tell DHS) and a glass jar candle. All of which were loose in the box. Needless to say the thin wall vase and roses were toast, along with that guy’s chance of getting lucky tonight. It was 60 degrees Ferret height when I got out at 1. But laundry is in the dryer, soup is in me, and I’m sipping on a gin&tonic, since my scurvy flared up.
but we do have macerated strawberries
If you macerate too much, you’ll go blind.
It’s hard to decide which is worse, stepping on fresh warm catpuke or cold, lumpy catpuke. Either way, it isn’t fun!
Cold is worse.
while fuzzbutts enjoyed the sun.
Spot was attacking a sunbeam earlier. Til the Might Hunting God got a nail stuck in the curtain and needed assistance.
He’s also prescribed 2x liquid antibiotics, plus a silver based ointment for the wound, so that’s been … fun.
Hope it works quick.
Howdy Y’all! I have lost some of my RDOS cred today. The stuff got done over to the church house. I think the azaleas will look great at Easter. I really hope they are in bloom as Easter is earlyish this year. OYKW took care of cookin’ stuff while I was gone and I took over to get the gravy done, rolls baked and collards and beans heated up. JDD and Partner showed up and we drank champagne and got silly as we are all wont to do. Lunch was great if’n I do say so myself. We were all stuffded so no one wanted cheesecake. We sent them home with a pile of leftovers and cheesecake. Now dishwasher is doin’ it’s thang and chillage ensues. I intend to go to bed with Ty to get ahead of any soreness after the diggin’ and plantin’ this mornin’. Now I feel the call of cheesecake and All Creatures Great and Small.
shoe hope Monkey is better soonest, poor feller.
MetalMouse hope your ear feels better soonest.
