Morning, mumpers! Well, the sap is definitely rising over here, it’s warmer today and there are signs of spring. Also, it was light enough at 7am to walk through the park on my way to the railway station. I have to go the slightly longer way round the outside of the park (it’s round, not exactly a hardship for distance) in winter because it’s deserted and pitch black inside the park, and the gates aren’t always open when I am going that way.
It’s Moanday, there’s nothing in my inboxes at irk that I want to get involved with and I wish I was back at home with my comfy slippers on.
Spring? heck with that! here in the high desert were skipping straight to summer as it was almost 90 here today which isn’t really unusual but it hasn’t done that in a while …
OK, enough of that nonsense. No, I don’t do VD. But boy, the Amish around here were trying to cash in - several of them had bouquets of roses and other flowers set up in roadside stands. I think FCD gave me “flowers” once - he brought me a potted mum when I was hospitalized. For all I know, it’s still alive in the garden where I planted it.
A brisk 23° this morning, but on Thursday, we’re supposed to see 70°. That’s too weird to even comment upon. I’ll be heading out around 8 to watch Toby while SIL has his Dr appt, then off to Lowe’s and WalMart and maybe Aldi for assorted stuff - hope I get home by noon. Eye appt at 4:20 for new specs. All in all, a really exciting day ahead.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 30 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 64 and N.O.S. for the day. I have Liturgy Committee meetin’ at one-thirty this afternoon. That is the big activity of the day. Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread. Sloth skills shall be honed.
So, it’s Valentine’s Day. Rah. The big celebration is tomorrow which will be a cheap chawklit day. But, since ‘tis the day, I shall send y’all my annual greetin’,
I’m sending my nose to Arizona. I’m sending my liver to Peru. I’m sending my kidney to Sydney, But, I’m sending my heart to you!!!
Romantic ain’t it!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah,
Mornin, all. The sap is decidedly not rising here, tis a rousing 6 degrees, heading for a high of 15 today. But I think this’ll be the last really cold snap. Up, sheveled, and off to build the stupid musical.
It’s cold outside. Only three people were at the park, and we didn’t stay long.
Ripple is being a brat. He didn’t walk with me to the truck. I had to keep calling him and wait for him, so it’s back on the leash for him. He loves the cold, and it makes him a bit frisky.
Two poems I remember:
I think about you all the time You set my heart afire I won’t say I’m a poet But boy am I a liar
I love your style I love your grace I love your smile It’s you I hate
Today is a day of minor annoyances.
We have to try to get the unemployment stuff done. The website is still down, although I think it’s not really down, just really busy. I’m getting in further this morning than I did last night.
Then I have to hunt down my electric bill and pay it. For whatever reason, the city decided to change their website and now I have to create a new account. For that I need information off the bill.
I have to order groceries online to pick up tomorrow. I hope they have everything this time, but I doubt it. Finish the laundry. Everything is washed, just waiting to be dried. I have a ton of paperirk that needs to be gone through, and my brain doesn’t want to go that way today.
Best of luck, sari. They sure don’t make unemployment easy.
We don’t generally do anything for Valentine’s Day, either - it’s hard enough for the two of us to remember our anniversary!
Hopefully we’ll be seeing the crocuses come up soon; I’d started seeing them a teeny tiny bit in December due to the unusually warm weather, which worried me a bit. Hopefully they’re okay despite having poked their heads out a little earlier than they were supposed to. The temperature in the afternoon has been a little consistently warmer, which is welcome, and it sure is nice to wake up and see some light sooner! I’ll be sad when we spring forward and it’s dark all over again but that’ll last just a month or two and we’ll be back in business.
My entire upper body is stiff. I went swimming with the girl yesterday and she put me through about an hour-long swim practice. It was really good for me, but I can definitely feel my shoulders today. I forgot how many muscles swimming uses. I have spin class tonight; so I guess I’ll push my lower half today. There will be a weight segment after, but I have a feeling I’ll be using the light ones today.
Morning all. Stayed in until almost 8am today while sleeping on the other side of the bed (just for variety-saves me flopping the ^&%^$ king sized mattress around…). It’s heading for 55F here today and 65F tomorrow and we’ll see 70’s before the end of the month, so looks like winter may have retired for good (famous last words). Nedd to do my usual shop-n-sammich routine and then get my swimmin’ laps in (going for 500 yards today) at the gym, outside of that not much on the agenda.
Never was big on Valentine’s Day even in my youth.
OK, need too start the day early (for me). All y’all take care.
Well, as I said in the last thread I dragged myself out of bed just before 5:30. so I could watch Cleopatra (Claudette Colbert version) on TCM. And then realized it started at 5:15. Darn. Watched it anyway, as you can’t beat Cecil B. DeMille for lavish production and sexy outfits. Yawn.
Morning, all. Was a quite warm weekend here in SoCal, but we have rain in the forecast for tomorrow.
Last week was a study in karmic balancing. Wednesday I got a check from a credit card company for $1100. Overpayment because I got sloppy and hadn’t checked the balance on a card I don’t use but had a debt on. Whee! Which was nice, because between 4 new tires on Saturday and plumbers having to replace my water cut-off valve and pressure regulator Sunday, I spent $1200. Thus does the Universe maintain balance and harmony. Ooooom.
But it’s a lovely day outside, I have the day off from school and I’m meeting a buddy for beers this afternoon. Things could be worse.
Fly low, stay safe and hang on until Spring Training starts!
I called the repair shop this morning. They’re waiting on an email from USAA’s repair services agent. I called them and let them know. They said the claim is in their estimates department, and I emphasised that they need to send the shop an email. I also replied to the agent’s text message.
The shop says they get their deliveries on Wednesdays. They have a technician out this week; but if they get the email from Premier Services and can then send the estimate, they’ll try to get my car done this week. I emailed work to let them know I’ll be telecommuting until I get my car back. (I do have the Jeep, but it only gets about a third of the miles per gallon that the Prius does. Driving the Jeep to work would cost over $60/day.)
Not a lot of work in smalls. But since the senior clerk still has her arm in a sling, I got to be a reasonable accommodation today. Which is good, because there was no one clerking the 100 slide, and Orange belt mangled a great many packages. He had the ring
He had the flat
She felt his chin
And that was that BURMA SHAVE
Boofae, it was 30 degrees this morning. Ferret Height, not that Celsius stuff the rest of the universe uses.
Well, there are antibiotics now, so you don’t have to.
The sap is not rising here yet, I’ve got the maple syruping gear ready to roll when it does, though. I need some daytime temps at least in the upper 30s while it goes below 30 at night before I’ll put some test taps in. 12 degrees F this AM.
Shopping is done and sammich consumed. Got a call from Purple Heart about picking up stuff tomorrow (one reason I donate to them is that they always call the day before to remind me about the pickup). So now have a big note in front of me so I put the stuff out in the driveway tomorrow.
quietly, always nice when you get surprise money. I got my federal tax return Firday and one of my Annunities paid me about $70 more than they have been…may need to check that out, hope they just didn’t make an error. Need to take my lawn mower in for servicing this week, so the extra cash will come in handy.
Ok, need to get ready for swimmin’. Take care all.
Cupcakes, hope you enjoyed the movie; can’t think of the last time I got up way early to watch a movie.
