(Old) Thwarted Plans in the MMP

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/47f with a predicted high of 14c/56f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Fix your fucking attitude. It’s going to be cloudy all fucking day.” Quite right, it’s cloudy out there today!

My plan for this morning was to drop 'im indoors at the station to get his train and then stop off at the petrol station near home to put some air in the tyres as the pressure warning light was on yesterday. Got to the petrol station, and the air machine is broken! Thwarted plans…now I have to go somewhere else to do that job.

It’s a bank holiday here so no work for me ('im indoors is working for…reasons…), I’ll go out again later to a different petrol station to sort out the tyres, then I am planning on grocery shopping and exercise of some sort later, possibly the gym, maybe something at home.

Hijack away!

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 54 Amurrkin (BRR!) out and clear with a predicted high of 80 and N.O.S. Bug will be here around nine this mornin’ to do the monthly keep the bugs away thang. That’s the big excitatement of the day. We will hone our RDOS skills as is our wont. Sup will be beastloaf, peas ‘n carrots, mac & cheese and rolls. Not imaginative but tasty and fillin’.

BooFae how tragic! No doubt you will need to lie upon the sofa and drink tea to restore yourself after the horrible ordeal of needin’ to go to more than one place just to air up your tires. You deserve it after all that effort.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Moanday Y’all! Happy Cinco de Mayo! May the margaritas be with you!

Around here, places that sell tires (or tyres) will air you up for free - is that a service available to you thereabouts?

Chances of rain thru Firday - some chances higher than others. Which means when we finally get a chance to mow, it’ll be hip high!!! Glad we have a new mower to deal with it. And today, at least, FCD and I will attack the boat cushion covers. I’ll have him cut out the correct sizes while I stitch them up. Maybe we’ll get it all done today. Maybe.

Two of my sisters have birthdays this week - one turning 60, the other 70. I sent off e-cards this morning to be delivered on the appropriate days. All 3 of my sisters have birthdays between Apr 29 and May 9, altho the last one was actually supposed to be a July baby. She showed up on Mother’s Day instead.

Speaking of birthdays, my older grand-nephew turns 7 today. His and Roxy’s birthdays are easy to remember - tax day and Cinco de Mayo of 2018. I’ll take any memory device I can get.

And so it begins. Happy Moanday!

I’ve never bothered going in to ask  I went to one of the supermarkets instead, their machine was working and only cost me a third of the price at my usual place so that was a valuable lesson in the end.

swampy I am home with a cup of tea, I haven’t got much else planned for the day so an afternoon of recovery on the sofa sounds very likely!

For those of you who are working in transmission factories in Mexico, Happy Synchro De Mayo!

I’m sure that I am not awake yet. I’m hearing news stories that can’t possibly be true. I need coffee. I’ll check back with you later.

Morning all. up at 6am, thanks to the long nap Sunday I didn’t need as much sleep and am feeling refreshed and ready for the week. Big event for the week is my annual medical checkup on Wednesday, blood will be drawn, places will be probed, and my body will be irradiated, so lots of fun to look forward too. Rain is gone for at least a few days, will try to get mowage in, they pick up clippings on Monday so no rush but lawn may look like FCM’s by the time I can get to it. Weather is nice and bright, 50F heading to 68F, so a good spring day.

Like FCM, the places near me will fill your tires on request (Tire Discounters is the one I go to). Heck, I can still remember the hacylon days of ‘free air’ at almost any gas(petrol) station…

No plans have been thwarted this week so far, the boys have not been able to play Saturday soccer for two weeks in a row due to rain, so I am hoping things stay dry this week. Been trying to contact the other coaches about getting together to play, but so far with no success.

And just about time to have the morning banana and add some liquid nourishment to the body after two large micturations early this morning. Have a good week all.

I’ve found that even when you pay for it, the units can’t be relied upon. Lucky for us, FCD has a big-ass compressor in his shop, so all we have to do is pull into the back yard and we’re good.

It’s raining at the moment. We’ll be heading to the marina in a bit. I’m going to make a to-do list and it’ll be easier if I’m standing there looking at stuff that needs to be done. Then I’ll try to prioritize the list. We’ve talked about doing this for eons - guess I should get to it.

So cushions have been moved to tomorrow.

The notebook I’m going to use is the one I used to track MIL’s weight in her last months. It was also the one she used to keep track of everyone’s birthdays. I went down the list and scratched off the ones who have died, which is most of the list. I think there are 9 left - she never did add SIL and Tobias to the list. It was mostly her siblings and their spouses.

Just heard a thunderboomer. According to accuweather, this mess will hang around on and off till noon tomorrow, then we might see sun. That is, till they change the forecast.

Continued from last week…

Wouldn’t have mattered anyway, as our season is also over and we won’t be back to the same venue next year anyway.

Funny little story about our time there: The arena also, of course, hosts concerts and other events when there aren’t games on. Last year they hosted Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Gaffigan. At the same time we were singing a concert version of the opera
Cavelleria Rusticana conducted by James Gaffigan.

Apparently the two know each other slightly, starting from an incident when Jim Gaffigan thought that James Gaffigan had stolen his identify to buy a cell phone and called him. They talk on the phone every once in a while but have never met in person. I believe this may have been the first time they were in (technically) the same building.

They tried to get Jim Gaffigan to make an appearance at the concert, but apparently couldn’t work it out.

Anyway, the craziness is almost over. A free hours of makeup lessons today, then normal Monday rehearsal. Tomorrow is juries at University 2.

Then I have to figure out how to make money over the summer.

A quick google reveals:

The three most in-demand jobs overall — software engineer, nurse, and salesperson — remained the same this quarter, though nurse and salesperson swapped places.

You’re welcome!

Catching up with last week:

I dislike not having pockets or, as you say, usable ones as I don’t like to carry a purse. I buy my pants from outdoor garment makers, particularly ones geared to backpacking, climbing, as they have a lot of pockets. REI makes pants with good pockets as well as Outdoor Research. Go on the REI website and check out both options.

She’ll likely overtax herself next Sunday.

doggio perhaps aptly named as he is the patron saint of bachelors. did you scroll away or make a donation?

I’m sheveled and had my morning beverage. Also wearing long underwear bottoms under my pants, merino wool socks, T-shirt, long sleeve shirt, and a sweatshirt. About to put on a jacket for my walk to work. It’s low 50’s so might be overdoing it but I don’t want to feel the slightest bit cold.

Enjoy your day. Happy Cinco de Mayo! :mexico:

Theres mayo in the sink?
Amazingly foggy this morning.
I went to the good foot dr.
She said for my pincer toenail, you can remove the sides. Of course, it will grow back the same in 6 months. Or you can do that, then chemically burn the starting points so the sides never grow back.
She claimed the healing could be painful, messy, and lengthy.
Trying to decide.
A day to get groceries, check the libraries.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that, it’s doing a bit of adulting re the absence / disability thing. It’s too wet to take Nelson to the dog park, but it’s cool enough to take him with me to Fiesta for some spices at a reasonable price, then to get gas.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Good morning.

It’s 46°F and sunny outside. We’re supposed to have plenty of sunshine and a high temperature of 72°F. I’ll probably work outside some more, especially since the yard waste bin goes down to the curb tonight for disposal of contents.

I had another restless night, but attempted to stay in bed until a little after seven. My last hours of sleep were filled with unpleasant dreams, which I can barely remember. All I remember is that I was scared and felt like I was in danger.

Before I get started on my yardwork, I’m going to finish my coffee. Here’s hoping you all have a pleasant day.

:open_mouth:

Welcome to the New Reality :trade_mark:.

I need a margarita to get over that one.

And that one!

{ adds tequila and limes to grocery list }

I’m starting to think maybe this whole “uninsured/never see a doctor/no healthcare” thing might be workin’ out for me.

/s … kinda

ZOOOOOOOMIES!!

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere.

Whoever was in charge of printing brochures and stuff musta had to triple check.

Sheesh, I’m not that far from you. I feel … underdressed.

There’s the start of a poem there, somewhere.

I have those a lot. Sucks to wake up feeling like you’re being hunted by … ??? unidentified things ??

Your life is in flux, and change can feel (and be) scary & dangerous.
It’s no wonder your subconscious is workin’ through some shit.

As for me?
Damn, y’all, I had an un·ac·cus·tomed great night.
Sorry/not sorry to brag, these don’t happen often.

I guess that rainbow broke whatever funk I was in .. okay, that, and getting home early enough to let Monks out while I sat on my steps and watched the last of the sunset behind the majestic oak across the street.
@JaneDoe42 you would love the skeleton branches of this guy, it’s really enormous.

Decompressed enough to eat, which felt lovely, got some minor household stuff done, which put me in the mood to do more eatin’ and accomplishin’ … and then, y’all I SLEPT … even slept right through the rattle-bang of the early morning trash truck.

So I awoke to a non-blurfy tummy (yay, food!) and a living room that … well, FCM might still be appalled, but it’s a zillion times better than it was.

Plus now it’s cool and overcast, with a smidgen possibility of rain, which I know isn’t some of all y’alls favorite but it does good things for me.

And back from the boat with a to-do list broken down by areas. Time to organize it by priorities and order of tasks.

We met our new boat neighbors - the trick now is to remember their names - Mike and Tamara(?) I know Mike is right, I think I got her name right, too. And there’s a sign at the marina - every Tuesday, they do a potluck. Bring your protein and something to share. Maybe next nice Tuesday, we’ll go.

Still dreary out there. I’m going to (eventually) tidy and organize the basement this afternoon so tomorrow we can do the cushions. I pulled some chickie out of the freezer to make for supper - not sure how I’ll prepare it, but I’ll figure out something.

What I want to do is veg. Dreary days are lazy days. As opposed to warm, sunny days which are… drowsy days? Let’s go with that.

Went to exercise alone, as the wife woke up with the dizzies again. I’m encouraging her to make an appointment, as the cause can be anything from ear wax to clogged artery. Whether or not she listens to me is anyone’s guess.

Ordered more bagels from New Yorker Bagels. Damn, but they’re good, and free two-day shipping.

Another warm, sunny day. Gotta get off my butt and take a stroll.

Happy Moanday all - I am enjoying a lazy morning as I took vacation for today. Work has been bananapants for the last month, so a break was much needed. Alas, I must return to work tomorrow.

One of the cats swatted my AirPod case off the table last night and knocked both earbuds out of the case. One has been slightly damaged and the other was no where to be found. Until Jax got the zoomies and was running through the house carrying a mysteriously shaped white object in his mouth… So second earbud has been found, also slightly damaged. I’m charging them to see if they still work.

I need to run some errands this afternoon but I may pretend to be an RDOS instead (and not the busy kind like FCM. I swear you do more in a day than anyone I know!).

The usual short handed heaving, clerking, and damages. I did a quick Aldi run after work, eggs were down to $3.94. Thanks, Obama!

An air pump at the grocery store?

Hope that’s “x-ray irradiated” and not “lick the yummy fuel rods” irradiated.

That’s a pun that’s geared more toward UAW members.

Just scrolled.

Supermarket has a petrol station, silly! Not all of our supermarkets do, the one I actually shop at doesn’t have one (its bigger branch in sunny Bilston does, although I’m not driving all the way over there just for the sake of it). The other two (Sainsbury’s and Asda) both have a petrol station, and Sainsers is closer to home.
