I guess I’m up early this morning. Which is exceedingly rare.
January is half over. Where does the time go?
No topic. But, hijack away.
I’ll start. Woke with no pain. Cripped three houses up with Buddy and he did his business like a good boy. The stairs are the killer in the boot. Must take them one at a time. This is one of the reasons I’m leaving paradise for the real world.
Great football yesterday. Except for my nap during the first one I hung in there and still up stupid early.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 37 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 53 and N.O.S. for the day. The biggest item on the agenda right now is to haul the biiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup. I shall wait upon daylight and the caffeine kickin’ in before doin’ so. Other than that we shall home our sloth skills. Tonight is men’s night over to the church house, so we shall be there. Matter of fact, we shall head over around fiveish to do some prep stuff. This is also my last week of bein’ church janitor Junior Warden.
Butters glad you woke up sans pain. Are you still lookin’ at Perry as your place to relocate?
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, well, the biiiiiiiiiiiig trash can is not goin’ to haul itself, so I shall.
Good morning everyone. Up and on second cuppa (coffee). Sadly it must be black this morning as the medicants wish to obtain a sample of my blood in a few hours. Afterward I’ll treat myself to a big breakfast. Day’s plans are to replace the clothesdryer failed last night, and obtain an air fryer. I have no idea what that is, but the missus has decided we need one, so off we go.
Weather service claims it’s 34F outside, and to expect sun, wind, and 60s later. Good enough.
There was a nasty, probably-weather-related accident right at the corner of our neighborhood and the main drag - my guess is a pickup going to fast couldn’t handle the (very gentle) curve and smacked into a pole. It also apparently smacked into whatever magical component feeds the intrarwebz to our little corner of paradise, and we’ve been without broadband (and TV) since yesterday afternoon!! I got a lot of crocheting done but FCD was pissed because he missed football. It just came back on at 7 this AM, so here I am!!!
We got maybe an inch or so of snow yesterday before it turned to rain, and overnight, it was some serious rain! Or maybe frozen rain mixed in, based on the sounds on our bedroom windows. Now it’s still rainy and blowing like crazy, but it’s supposed to stay above freezing. FCD has therapy at 11:30, then to the Dr at 1:45 to have his zip-tie suture removed. In between, we’ll go to lunch. So that’s today’s exciting plans. I thawed a small meatloaf yesterday and with appropriate sides, that’ll be tonight’s supper. I guess my day is mapped out.
I’m just glad we’ve got our intrarwebz back - FCD was going thru withdrawals!!! He’s not much for reading, and since he’s still recuperating, futzing in his shop isn’t an option. I, on the other hand, started on the afghan for my niece’s impending spawn - he’s due in about a month. There was something else I felt compelled to share, but I’ve brain-farted, so maybe it’ll come back to me later.
My sonny boy is insistent that I live near him on the Space coast so he can “take care of me”. Rolleyes. Thus I have an offer in for a house in Palm Bay. I should know today whether I will get it or not. Perry is in my back pocket though. I have it if I decide to do it. I already have an inspectors name and a very nice agent to help with logistics etc. I am more than ready to get settled somewhere, even though this one does not close until Feb 24. Buyer asked and got two extra days as he will be traveling. The delay is good for me though as I, as yet, have nowhere to go.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 8C/45F outside, cloudy with occasional glimpses of sun. Busy day today, I got a negative LFT today so am in the campus office along with one other person. Various other members of staff are working at home or off sick so we are covering the basics but that’s about all. Luckily I had one meeting this morning and that was blissfully short.
From last week’s MMP:
VanGo I was so sorry to read about Cinnamon, but you made the best decision you could. It’s awful to be in that position, even when you know you’re doing the right thing to avoid Cinnamon suffering. Still leaves a big hole behind.
shoe just 'cos. I hope you’re doing ok, picking up your pieces. Please come back and tell us you’re surviving.
Moooom how did you manage to survive so long without interwebz and TV? I would have been fine with books but 'im indoors would have been climbing the walls! Or just insisting we go to the pub instead.
Butters good luck with the house stuff, I hope you get the one you really want!
The vet rang earlier to say that Ophelia’s medication is ready to collect today, it was meant to be ready on Friday but by the time I got to the surgery, they’d given the sole bottle of stuff to another person. Not a massive problem, Ophie’s heart problem isn’t life-threatening although it’s putting pressure on her liver/kidneys which accounts for her weight loss. Once we can get that stabilised, she should be a happy little sausage again. Thus I am off to the vet’s surgery on my way home tonight.
Weekend was busy, it seemed to go by in a flash. Next weekend will do the same as we’re at a music festival in Leicester so I’m taking the following Monday off to get home again. Then on Friday I’m working half a day then driving us to sunny Lancashire to visit a couple of friends. One half of the couple has been having chemo for bowel cancer and is now waiting for surgery after the success of the chemo. Provided we test negative a couple of days beforehand, we’ll be off to visit.
Mornin’, all. I’m still here. Looks like we got about 9 inches of snow over night. I prolly ought to go shovel the “thing at the end of the driveway.” But I donwanna. I think I’ve made the decision that I’m not going out today.
I’ve just finished my second cup of strong tea. That means I’ll be peeing from now until about 7:30 a.m. I used to drink coffee, but coffee never made me go this much. I like to say that even though I sucked at algebra in high school, I’m a master of this equation: T = P
Happy MLK day, everybody. Do you have the day off? I do, and I took the rest of the week off, too. I think I’ll mask up and go to a Macy’s to see about their extra-firm side sleeper pillows. Bed Bath & Beyond stopped carrying a brand that we love, and we need new pillows. Macy’s side sleepers look promising and I’d like to get a couple if they are firm and well-made.
And what’s up with Bed Bath & Beyond? Are they bankrupt or what? The last time I visited one, all their shelves were half-empty. Are they going the way of K-Mart?
Hopefully, they’re just having the usual 2020s round of supply issues and will recover.
What brands of side-sleeper pillows have worked well for you? That’s an ongoing challenge for me.
We both seem to have randomized as far as sleep, so I did a Winco run at about 0330. If one doesn’t mind maneuvering around stock crew, not a bad time to shop, really
I remembered what I wanted to share - BIL update. He’s off a ventilator and probably will be moved from ICU today. Apparently part of the problems included the pain meds he was taking at home - I don’t know if he was dosing wrong or SIL didn’t have all the info the doc needed or what. But as of last night, he seems to be past the worst of it and he’s mostly sedated and resting comfortably. So it looks like the VAX helped him survive covid.
Daughter just called - her heat crapped out. The company that does our work can’t get to her till tomorrow, so she’s trying to find someone. I’m holding back a big “told you so” when I’d advised her to get a maintenance contract with a company… That gets you repair priority. She’ll learn. Meanwhile, they may be coming over here.
I guess it’s good that there is an improvement for your BiL, FCM. Seems like the ornery ones make it, right? Sorry to hear about your daughter’s heat woes. I hope she finds someone soon.
Another restless night, made worse by the husband’s restlessness. He went to bed at 7:40 last night. I told him that was a bad idea, but he did it and was awake at midnight. He came back downstairs, making all kinds of racket, while gaming and picking up his desk area, as well as making snacks. He went back to bed around 4:30 this morning, which was about when I gave up sleeping and got up. The good news is that I’m off work today, so I can catch a nap if want. I highly doubt I will nap, but there is an opportunity.
Today is a three-cup coffee day, so once I finish this one, I’ll tidy up the kitchen. I’m also going to get some fuel in me and head over to the park once daylight breaks.
Good morning all. Slept well last night, so am ready to face the week (or at least Moanday). Shop-n-Sammich run in a little bit, the temperature is 33F and street outside looks clear, so shouldn’t be a problem driving.
For the week’s duties, I need to visit Target and look into the Consumer Cellular product and maybe visit a gym or two in the area and get info from them in case I do decide to exercise. Also have only 5 pills left on my subscription and no refills, so need to check in with the Drs. office if I need to keep taking them or not. Also a soccer meeting on Tuesday night. So that will keep me sorta busy for the week.
Butters, happy that you foot seems to be doing better. And as for housing, go where YOU think you’ll be most comfortable for the next 20-30 years–no guarantee Sonny Boy will stay in your area.
FCM, I don’t think we realize just how much we depend on the Net’ anymore–until it is gone for a little while. I managed fine while my TV was out for a couple weeks, but cut me off from the internet world… And remember, we’re the ‘old folks’, who didn’t grow up with being connected like this; young people would really be bereft if they lost contact.
And hope the heat gets fixed for daughter; do they have any space heaters?
Boo fae, enjoy the weekends and best wishes to your friend.
lucky, re: MLK day; I’m retired, so everyday is a day off.
OK, need to check the rest of my morning internet and then onward into the day. All y’all have a great week now.
My doxie Mauser was happy this morning because it was pill day. It’s really simple, put the pill in a spoonful of peanut butter and he slurps it down, licking the spoon and wanting more.
It was glorious sunshine here today (the sun has just set- the pretty orange is just fading from the sky), with the first tiny hints of spring- wee burdies singing, snowdrops peeping through the grass… so of course I was sat inside almost all day, on the most mindbogglingly dull and irrelevant series of lectures I have yet encountered.
I wasn’t expecting this topic to be the most thrilling, based on the course title- it’s a core module, so no option not to do it- but I thought the person who told me the main lecture topic was kidding, because it made so little sense. They weren’t. They’ve given me the assessment though, and I think I can just not watch the pre-recorded lectures, which are so far off from my interests the James Webb telescope won’t be able to see 'em even if everything goes perfect.
Anyway- I need to go buy some milk and maybe some other shopping, because I think this week is going to require an awful lot of coffee and food self-bribes. I shall take the opportunity to go to the fish 'n chip shop next door while I’m there- I’ve been craving chips for a week, but they don’t deliver out this far.
Thanks baker, I’m doing OK, all things considered. The house seems big and empty, though. I’ve packed up all Cin’s old toys and things, so they’re not around to remind me all the time. I saved the nice ones, cuz dammit I’m gonna get another dog sometime in the spring. Just so I can get my heart broken in another 15 years.
Morning, all. Low 50s and raining here in SoCal. Luckily I wasn’t planning on doing much today anyway, because it it the perfect day for just laying around in sweats doing absolutely nothing of consequence. Bloody Mary for breakfast, cats on chest just watching it rain outside. Life could be worse.
Cooked a meatloaf yesterday, so I’m set for sandwiches and such for the week. The birds outside are treating the feeder like it’s the last open Piggly Wiggly and there’s a hurricane on the way. I wonder if they know something…
