Conversation with my two tends toward “Why are you licking my computer?”, “Who didn’t bury the stinky properly?”, “Leave your brother/sister alone!”, etc.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 4c/40f with a predicted high of 9c/49f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Imagine if you were riding a fucking horse, and all that horse wanted to do was fucking eat grass? That’s what this fucking weather is like. Boring.” I’ll take boring over anything else this week.
Couple of things from last week’s MMP…
The girls have been here for 18 months and everything still seems to scare them. He’s ok with the job, he was a bit uncomfortable with the idea of the company being involved in defence contracts but once he found out what the work was, he was ok with it.
I have one that came from my grandmother - it’s a mushroom though, not an egg or a chicken leg
I was up early this morning, and had to vacuum round the litter tray area in my home office as Cherry decided burying her poo required quite an excavation. Blossom used the litter tray in the bathroom and launched her poo right to the back (where’s she’d already scraped all the litter away) so that one needed a full clean out. The one downstairs in the Room of Doom had been well-used overnight but that meant Shadow didn’t want to get in there (and wasn’t keen on walking to litter tray a few feet away in the hall) so he had a poo on the puppy pad at one end of the tray, and then had a wee on the puppy pad at the other side. Yes, all our litter trays except the bathroom one sit on an island of puppy pads and newspaper!
So I’ve been out already, I’ll have to go out again at lunchtime to do the grocery run so that means I need to work out what I’m eating for the week. I took some chicken out of the freezer for tonight, I’ll decide what I’m making with that in case I need anything specific from the supermarket. Then I need to decide what I’m doing for campus lunches so that can go on my list.
Got a busy irk day too, we have to publish our module preference pages for continuing students this week and I’ve still got quite a lot of work to do on them. Better get on with that then…
Annie and I are just sitting here hanging out. She’s actually surprisingly not trying to lick my elbow this morning. I’m contemplating what to do next.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 44 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 74 and N.O.S. We shall be RDOS as is our wont. Sup will be baked ham, baked beans, N.O.T. sallit and garlic bread. The beans and N.O.T. sallit will require effort so that counts as productivity I suppose.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Annie and I are now avoiding work. I have many phone calls to make today and am psyching myself up to avoid those. I’m also chickening out on going to the laundromat to wash the bedspreads and larger items. There’s been lots of activity here regarding a certain (most likely) illegal group of people around here and tensions are escalating due to some weekend events. And, it just so happens that when I go to the laundromat, that 99.9% of the people there are from that group. I doubt that anything would happen, but I just don’t know. And, I don’t really need to go right now, so I decided not to take any chances. I’d also like to clarify that I have zero issues with the group of people themselves, it’s all the wack jobs who are mean and hateful that might want to prove some kind of point or continue an argument that someone else started over the weekend.
I feel like I’m a big chicken because of this, but I don’t need any drama and there’s no need to put myself unnecessarily in a situation where I don’t feel comfortable just for extra clean laundry.
/paranoid rant
For reasons I absolutely don’t understand, Ziva refuses to bury her, um, deposits. When Taz was still alive, he’d often tidy up after her, but since he’s gone, her turds are in full view, and full smell. Higgs found them irresistible if we’d forget to close the door to the landing, and Trevor has helped himself at least once. Animals - what are you going to do??
OK. OK, you can all relax - I’m here and I’m fine. I decided to run to Food Lion first thing, so that’s done. It’s about 30°, but nice and sun-shiny and we’re supposed to hit 60°, ahead of the snow that’s forecast for Weds… Anyway, I didn’t need a lot of groceries, but I didn’t want to wait till the rest of the county woke up.
However, I did get there in time for the apparent party in the cereal aisle! There were at least half a dozen guys there bringing all the stock forward on the shelves and laughing about something. Glad they enjoy their work!
Not sure what today will bring - hope I can get our taxes done. And I should clean the basement fireplace and dump the ashes. So I could be productive.
Today is just laundry and the bi-annual changing of the bedsheets (JK - I change 'em about every other week).
While Bed, Bath & Beyond was still a thing, they carried a brand of sheets called Wamsutta Dream Zones. They were spendy, but man were they worth it. They were tight-woven, smooth and slightly glossy, heavy lovely sheets. They lasted a long, long time because they were so well made, and they never pilled up. Then B-cubed AND Wamsutta went under, and these sheets are nowhere to be found. Our last Dream Zones are finally wearing out after years of use and some replacements that I found (PimaCotts from Costco - they bought Wamsutta) are okay, but nowhere near as wonderful. First world problem, right? But I was thinking of it today because I’m putting the PimaCotts on my bed and noticed that they’re pilling up even though we’ve only had them three months or so.
Then it’s on to America’s Tire to see why one of our tires isn’t keeping its pressure. If it’s a faulty tire they’ll replace it, but we’ll see.
According to my phone, it is a N.O.S. 31, feels like 31, degrees outside. According to my window, it’s cloudy. According to the dogs’ backs, it’s cold. It’s supposed to get up to the mid 50s today.
We shall see.
The snow that was predicted for Hump Day has been changed to rain.
The only thing I say to these dogs that I never said before is, ‘CLOSE THE DOOR!’
They like to stick their heads out to see what is going on, and Rayleigh has a bad habbit of only going so far and the door will rest on his rump.
It’s too cold for that.
I overslept, which isn’t really a problem in terms of what I have to do. Except I feel blurfy and grumpy when I do.
There are a number of things I have to do, that I have been putting off because I don’t want to deal with people. It’s down to the wire and they have to be done.
Today is Subscribe and Save day. I hope everything arrives somewhat early as the dogs are down to two treats each. Then I’ll have cardboard to cut up, and stuff to put away.
There will definitely be a dump run this week as the recycling was not picked up.
I hope to get taxes done without getting an extension this year. They should be fairly simple. I’ll still pay to have them done, I don’t want the headache.
My son just brought me breakfast.
Time to eat and then start the day.
Of course you’re not - there are a bunch of nutters out there who may well be intent on causing trouble just because they can. They won’t care who gets caught up in it, and even if you have no problem with the group they’re targetting, the nutters won’t see it that way. Absolutely no point putting yourself into a stressful situation when you don’t need to.
Cherry digs halfway to Australia to bury hers, then she manages to get most of the litter scattered around the tray too. Blossom buries nothing, she’s obviously proud of her creations! Shadow is a bit of both, he doesn’t always get into the tray to deposit anything so I’ll find it sitting beside the tray (hence the newspaper/puppy pads). If he does use the tray, he’ll half-bury it so that he can say he’s made an effort.
I have a couple of things like that, not so much the dealing with people bit, but definitely the “it needs to be done today because you’ve ignored it for too long”.
Here in Elkhart, it’s 38F, heading to a high of 52F! Mrs. Nott is muttering, trying to get her phone to talk to the printer No success so far. Ah, there it goes, grinding out a shipping label. She must have sold something.
I knew it would be almost 50 today and its so enjoyable to be out in, but of course I can’t totally enjoy because of back pain.
If I lean foward or recline to the side its okay.
I am moving slow, which helps and am keeping it in motion to maybe stretch the muscle a little.
No appetite but am having a pb sandwich for protein.
May go to urgent care and have them check out my back.
Good morning all. I actually slept a full evening without my bladder waking me upat 4am and I am not urinating quite as much as I was last week, so hopefully that will continue. Am trying to drink water and Gatorade (and milk) only the next few days to see if that makes a difference from my usual steady intake of Pepsi products. 56F now and heading to 73F according to the weather wizards, so an early harbringer of Spring. Will shortly get dressed and do the shop (apples and paper) and sammich (Jersey Mike’s #3) run as is my usual Moanday routine. Tomorrow is see the surgeon day and hopefully the report will be good.
Never had a pet on my own, either was in a small apartment or traveled to work and never got the habit (I just manage to take care of myself…). Reading your adventures, especially with the cats and their bathroom habits, probably best I never did. Still offer up scritches whenever the opportunity arises.
Sticky Buns, I think you are being wise, things are in a state of flux right now, and ‘innocent bystander’ is a real thing. Be aware.
lucky, happy sheet-washing. Hope the tire fix is simple and not too pricey.
piper, yikes, that is cold…
wet one, hopefully good reports from the MRI.
Coppertone, take care and do get the back checked out if problems remain.
And that’s all for Moanday morning. Y’all have a good one.
VBC was too fat to jump on the counters so she never taught GG to do it and he never thought to do it himself. Jolene was raised by cat-loving shelter workers who encouraged the cats to get on their desks and counters for socialization. She taught GG and now they both think they are entitled to jump on the kitchen island while Hubs is dishing out gooshy fud.
We’ve had a number of workers in our home for various things. The one thing they all notice and comment on is our Litter Robot, most of them knew what it was and were wondering if such a thing was worth the money. Our answer is YES.
Poor lil girls. Sometimes they never really settle down.
I do that a lot. Currently I’m not calling my money guy about some sales I asked him to do over the weekend.
I think you are smart to not chance it. Are there any other laundromats in the area you can use? I think you are about five hours away from us, if worse comes to worse, we have high capacity machines. Of course we would be sure to lock GG up before you got here, I wouldn’t want to risk him thinking that Annie is a battery operated squeek toy.
Used cat fud, YUM!
Well, I’ve got class tonight so I’d best get working on my homework so I can continue to not make my phone calls. Procrastination is a speciality of mine.
