Grab a leaf rake in the MMP!

First, from last time:

Dos the B-W Parkway not work for you? I find it’s usually a pleasanter drive than I-95. But it depends on what part of Baltimore you’re headed to…

And moving forward - it’s a new, leaf-covered week here at FairyChatEstates, and probably for many of you, too. Or it will be soon. Or not - whatevah… For me, it means hitching the mulcher/vac to ol’ John Deere to clear the worst of the fallen leafage. But I still have to go old-school with a rake to clear the flower beds and certain areas where John won’t fit. And I need to make a path to a proper dump site somewhere in our woods.

Since last autumn, a tree and several large branches have fallen along the path thru our woods. I’ll need to get FCD and his chain saw to help clear the way. At least I don’t have to bag the leavin’s - we let Mama Nature break them down where we dump them. But I need to get on that pretty quick - the front lawn is pretty well covered as is much of the back. So I have that to look forward to.

Today, I’m going with FCD and his fambly to MVA to help BIL get his MD license. He’s got just a tad of social anxiety (as in he freaks out in unfamiliar situations) so FCD wants me to be with his bro. The in-laws have to get their car title changed to MD before they can gift the car to BIL, since they couldn’t be bothered to turn it over to him before leaving FL. So much bureaucracy! But that’s my big fun for the day.

It rained overnight and it’s supposedly done, but we probably won’t see any sun today. Just another day in paradise.

Happy Moanday!!

This is sooooo appropriate to this group!!

First! It’s good to be juvenile!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out with a DENSE FOG ADVISORY in effect and a predicted high of 82 and N.O.S.ish for the day. Tonight is men’s night over to the church house, thus steaks are marinatin’ and beer is chillin’. Outside of goin’ over early to do prep stuff, we shall experience high sloth.

MOOOOOOM “never use effort when sloth will do” is worthy of bein’ embroidered on a throw pillow.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Except it would require effort - what a dilemma!!!

Good morning, everyone. Just downed my large mug of tea and will play Wordle once the (tiny amount of) caffeine kicks in.

I spent yesterday cleaning out the big master bedroom closet as part of the ongoing process of getting rid of anything we don’t want to have to pack up when we move next year. I dumped a lot of knick knacks which have been packed away in boxes since our last move - of twenty-three years ago! The list of what I kept is short:

A couple of old original Barbies and their clothes
Love letters and a lock of my husband’s hair from about 1977 (thick and brown!)
My dad’s Navy ring
My four bicuspids, pulled when I was 12 before I got braces
A baby ring given me by my grandparents when I was born
Several pen and ink drawings of pugs which I did back in the 1990s

All of the jettisoned stuff filled three big laundry baskets. Some went to Goodwill, a lot went into the trash. Then the big emptied closet shelf was vacuumed of years of dust. Phew!

Mornin’ all. Up and in the shop. My brother is on his merry way to Ohio, after a night at my house. It was nice to catch up with him, but we really don’t have that much in common anymore. Such is life.

Time to start drawings for my newest project, then I can run numbers and get a price to the client. And I gots to check in with another client to see what the status of a museum job is.

But I got a case of the donwannas.

Stay safe and have a great week, y’all.

Morning all. Up at 6:30am again, my sleep-in button must be broken or something. Nice fall day, 57F heading for 64F, so need to break out the jacket. Some shopping and sammich and swimmin’ and sauna and soccer are all planned for today; fairly active for one used to sloth. May run the dishwasher this afternoon (or maybe tomorrow) if I have an extra burst of energy.

VanGo, know the feeling with Brother, I’d give him a kidney if he needed it, but we don;t have a lot in common with our lives these days. Still going up to see him for Thanksgiving.

lucky, I think you chose wisely on what you kept; doubt I have as much to go through, but most of it is nicely hidden away. Out of sight, out of mind I always say…

FCM, when I bought my house in 1997 (hardly seems like 25 years is coming up), they put in 4 small trees, two in front and two in back. Within a year or so I had them removed, they would have eaten up most of the yard and the leaves…these days I only have to worry about any blowing over from neighbors and the forest area several houses down. The way the weather is going, no telling when they’ll start falling.

Hope things go well with the FCD side of the family.

OK, need to make myself presentable and do the shopping and sammich part of the routine. Take care all.

Just out of curiosity - why would you save these? Seems an odd memento…

I’ve got the truck loaded for a run to the convenience center. Then I’ll wait for a call from FCD to help with BIL’s license. Luckily, it’s just a 3 or 4 mile drive from here. I’m thinking I’ll thaw a couple of cod fillets for supper. That’s as far as today’s planning has progressed. Frankly, I think getting the truck loaded with trash and recycling is quite an accomplishment on a soggy Moanday.

I don’t know. They’re so perfect and pearly white, which you’d expect of a twelve-year-old’s teeth. And getting rid of them feels like disposing of a part of me, which is just what it is.

Next up in readying our house: replacing the plantation shutter in the master bedroom’s window, which has several broken slats. The shutter person will be here tomorrow.

Trash and recycling have been dispatched. And I found the letter from the electric co-op about the in-laws’ electric service, which is on my account so they didn’t have to pay a deposit. I just set it up for auto-pay. But I will verify that it’s paid on 11/4 because it wasn’t clear when the payment would go thru.

Speaking of payment, I need to check one of mine now. Onward!

I need exercise every day (except Tuesdays), but I just wasn’t motivated yesterday so I compromised. I needed some Shake 'N Bake, so I decided to walk to the corner market ⅔ mile away. They didn’t have any pork S&B, but at least I got 1⅓ mile of walking in.

I’m confused now. I just got my electric and gas bill for the shop. It’s shockingly high, but that’s a different rant. What I want to know is how do they have a meter reading from 7/25/22 to 8/24/22 when today is 10/17/22?

Towels are chugging away in the washer. I need to do a deeper cleaning of the kitchen since yesterday’s baking. With all the prep, you’d think a VIP was coming to lunch today–and you’d be right! Oo, can’t forget to set out water bowls for the four-footed contingent.

Cool! And probably worth some :moneybag:, not that you would or should sell them.

swampy, I love fog. I always feel like I’m in a Sherlock Holmes story, that is, when I’m walking or looking out the window. In my driving days, it just made me a tad nervous.

flyboy, what would happen if you used, say, chicken Shake 'N Bake on pork? Exploding ovens? World shifting its axis? Four Horseman galloping toward the PNW?

VanGo, yikes on the bill. Re: date, I’d guess they’re running late getting them out? Short-staffed?

MetalMouse, my house in Wyoming had no trees (which made me sad), but I had as many leaves on my lawn as if I did because neighbors to the east had a fence and those to the west did not, so leaves from trees from there to Idaho stopped on my lawn. Ditto tumbleweeds. I think the record for those was 24.

The usual Monday heave.

Voodoo? :man_mage:

VanGo I also have the donwannas, which isn’t great as I’m moving in a week.

I feel utterly ill - bad migraine - and I’ve got so much to do. I will finish my coffee and then see if I can get much done today or not.

Take care everyone.

Happy Moonday!

And a Happy Day it is!
My son got his learner’s permit!

I’m thrilled, he isn’t.
I am surprised that he only has to practice for 14 hours, 3 at night. He does have to take drivers ed again, so he’ll get more than 14.

We got there before the MVA opened, we got in and out before 9.

I just found out! He doesn’t have to go to driving school because he already went and the certificate is on file.

Which btw FCM, I don’t know about the one down your way, but up here you need an appointment for everything. You might want to check before going.

Yesterday was a pretty nice day, if a bit confusing.
NIece1 hubby said she moved out, so I thought since she is at my mother’s house all the time, that is where she is staying. But she loaded some furniture in her suv, so, I don’t know where she is staying.

Niece1 filled me in on some more estate stuff. Nobody knows what is going on with the one account. They won’t tell anybody anything. My nieces think there is no beneficiary, but I can’t believe my mother would do that. I think the Trust may be the beneficiary. The company says they sent out paperwork but nobody has gotten anything. Unless she left it to a charity, but I find that hard to believe too. I could see her leaving a small amount to a charity, but not that much money.

Niece2 looks bad. It’s bad enough to be grieving, but my sister is playing games. First, she is buying the house and my niece can stay, then she isn’t buying the house and my niece has to move, then she is buying the house and my niece can stay but only under certain conditions, then she isn’t buying the house and my niece has to move.

The same kind of shit my mother pulled. One time my sister needed to borrow some money and mom said she’d lend it to her. She wouldn’t give my sister the money right away, but every time my sister asked, my mother would say it’s not due yet but I’ll lend you the money.
Then at the last minute, my mother said okay, I have the money for you, but if you want it you have to do x, y, and z for me.
Always with the bullshit, both of them.

Niece2 told me she is working with my sister to make my sister a better person.
Good luck to that.

I’m afraid sloth has become a way of life for me. However, I have too much to do and am getting more and more behind. I need another week’s vacation, I think.

I’m not sure Cerby/Turbo is a sure thing yet. I should know something today.

We got the dogs off to daycare this morning. Ripple will not get out of the truck for my son, but once I get him out, he will trot off happily with my son. He is being weird.

Barky and Humpy went today, and since there were so few there, they went on the small side with the others. I heard it wasn’t bad, no barking and no humping.

As far as gentleman callers
A friend of mine (several years ago) was saying to me that she thought her bf was just using her for sex. I didnt say this part out loud, but I thought Girl, you are 55 years old, you look good for 55, but if a man us looking for sex, he’s going to be looking for a 35. I said out loud, I think any man who just fixed your leaky pipes, fixed your stuck door, and cooks dinner for you on the weekends isn’t using you for sex.
Really I thought get over your fool self, you’re not all that.
I think the idea of being used for sex is a weird one anyway after a certain age. If you are enjoying it, then what’s the problem? If you’re not enjoying it, they why are you seeing him?
Life is too short for bad sex.

I was telling another friend about this (not gossiping because those two friends will never meet) and she was as baffled as I was at the idea.
The one I was telling though is a bit… innocent I guess. She married the second man she ever dated, and she only went out with the first guy a few times. In her mind, you meet somebody you like, you go out for a bit, like turns to love, you get married, have children, buy a house, and life is good. No conflict, no games, no bullshit, it’s easy.
She’s a widow now.
So I was saying to her, it’s not like the guy is screwing her and leaving, then you know you are being used for sex.
She says wait, wait wait wait, you mean I could have a man come over, and we could have sex, and he would leave afterwards. I said yes, some men will do that.
She says, so we can have sex, and he will leave, right? I said yes.
She says, so he’s not going to hog the remote, I don’t have to share the blanket, I don’t have to cook him breakfast, or ever do his laundry.
I said Nope.
She said, and women complain about this? I don’t see the problem. Sounds like a good arrangement.
I said yeah, if you’re looking for that kind of thing. Of course if they leave some money on the nightstand, that is a whole other kind of arrangement.
I could get paid! I wonder how long before I could get a new roof.

I said at our age we aren’t worried about being used for sex, we’re hoping to be used for sex.

Oh, he sounds perfect. Send 'im over.

As if we didn’t know my cats are furry weirdos :), turns out Buddy has as little interest in paper grocery bags as Allie does. Most cats I’ve known found them of interest, but my two just ignore them. Buddy has picked up Allie’s quirk of considering peeing a social event. Whichever cat is in the bathroom with me when I’m using the one with their box in it is likely to hop into the box and use it while I’m similarly occupied.

Frustrated with maintenance right now. Not the manager’s fault so far as I can tell, but I put in a request on Wednesday when I noticed the dryer was taking multiple tries to get a load dry. I STILL have not seen a maintenance person here to deal with it. From what the manager tells me, he’s having problems with absentees and with a particular piece of equipment they’ll need to deal with my situation (he says what the tech thinks is needed is to blow out the vent starting at the back of the dryer going to outside).

The manager’s a nice guy, is one of Buddy’s alternate humans, and has two pleasant dogs. I like the building manager, and I do concede that when they’re short-handed, triage is needed. I can get my laundry dry, it just takes longer and probably isn’t doing my power bill any good (thankfully, I have the level-billing “budget” plan), so this isn’t as bad as plumbing or heating issues.

As for alternates, lugging to a laundromat or the complex laundry room (with zero seating and I don’t trust my neighbors enough to leave my stuff unattended) is problematic around my back issues and cargo space in the car (usually full of DH’s toolboxes). (grumble mumble)

Afternoon everyone. Began entering my standard MMP stuff, but found myself faced with a serious emergency. As I was typing, I heard a horrible cry from mizPullin in the kitchen. Racing down the hall to her rescue, I discovered the source of her horror: The coffee maker had failed.

I’m sure everyone understands the serious nature of this, I volunteered to head into the morning rush hour on my mission to secure a replacement. Having returned and saved my damsel in distress, I got busy with other chores, and forgot to return here to wish everyone good morning and good week.

Hope everyone has a good week. And working coffee makers!

That’s fantastic!

Looking forward to more pics of Turbo after he joins the family.

I also enjoyed the gentleman caller stories.

This is a very good reason for having alternative methods for making coffee. We have both a cone and a french press. Plus there’s two bakeries within 10 minutes of walking. And a cafe!

Monday is mostly done here. Sun’s already gone down and it’s cooling off after a high of 21 C / 71 F. Because it’s been so warm we still have mosquitoes. I would gladly exchange mosquitoes for cold weather. I even got a bite on my ankle.

Lunch was spaghetti bolonese, as I realized the sauce I made in 2021 is getting close to being in the freezer for a year. Makes for a quick lunch, so I made Morning Glory Breakfast Cake for tomorrow’s breakfast. Hope it tastes okay.

As it is Monday, I cleaned the bathroom sinks, the kitchen and then did 2 loads of laundry. And we even went for a walk. And I worked.

Not sure I got this sloth thing down right.

Stay safe!
